Izuku awakes in the hospital. The room is quiet, and the sound of machines humming in the background can be heard . Izuku can’t move his body as he is lying down in a hospital bed, unable to toss or turn. Izuku just stays there for a moment. The war itself has finally been won, Shigaraki is no more, and the world can lead to peace.
“Not everything is alright, though I still failed to save shigaraki,” Izuku thinks to himself as he sighs at not having been able to save him . Izuku knows deep down that doing so would be an impossible task, but he thought to himself.
“With will alone, I should have been able to help”, but it wasn’t enough; he knew that Shigaraki still needed to be stopped, that saving him didn’t mean he would be able to walk away freely.
That’s when Izuku hears breathing coming from the other side of the room. He turns his head around to see All Might lying next to him in a hospital bed.
“So you’re finally awake “,All Might says as he turns to face Izuku.
“All Might!” Izuku says loudly.
“Settle down, young Midoriya. “
“So they put us in the same room together?”
“There aren’t enough hospital rooms to go around, plus it makes guarding us easier”
“r-right hows everyone doing? Did anyone get seriously injured”
“They are all being treated at different hospitals “
“So, Uraraka, is she going to be okay?”
“While I don’t know about her condition im sure she’s going to be alright”
“Yeah, she has to be”
All Might could feel something resonating from Izuku, the familiar feeling of one for all. All Might let out a gasp.
“You kept it, didn’t you?”
Izuku suddenly froze as he thought about what this means that All Might somehow figured it out.
“How did you know All Might?”
“I can still feel one for all within you, Izuku.”
Izuku suddenly felt relief that he didn’t have to keep this a secret from All Might that he could be open and honest with him.
“Yes, All Might… I was able to keep one for all “
“how did you mange too?”
“During the fight against Shigaraki, his regeneration, it uh, stopped working, and so I was able to attack him without him regenerating. I had thought about transferring the power to him to defeat him in the vestige realm, but I couldn’t risk it. If the plan failed, then he would have been unstoppable. ”
All Might felt shock flow through him as he heard Izuku's explanation. He thought back to when he had One for All. How carrying the power alone broke him down and led him on a lonesome path, but he still wouldn’t give it up if it meant he could save others, then he would still go through with it.
All Might took a moment to think to himself.
“That was reckless… but it still saved lives”
All Might then speak aloud
“What you did was brave, Izuku, keeping one for all and using it to defeat Shigaraki.”
Bakugo stands at the door to Izuku and All-Might's hospital room, having overheard the whole conversation. He pushes forward and opens the door.
He stares at Izuku as thoughts from their childhood together flood his mind of how Izuku was when he got One for All and how he acted during his time away from UA, fighting alone.
“Deku… so you think you’re better than us, huh!?” Bakugo shouts as he then says
“You still have one for all. So you think that means you get to be better than me”
Bakugo pauses for a second and says, “If you think that I’m gonna let you do this all on your own, think again, Deku!”
“kachan! No, that isn’t at all what I think you see im not better than you just because I have one, for all you can still surpass me! Uh, what I meant by that was you can still be better than me, not that im saying that I’m better than you!”
Izuku pauses for a moment as he realises that Bakugo isn’t mad that he has one for all, but rather is mad that he could go down a dark path again.
“Well, I don’t think I should go it alone. In fact, I was wondering if when we’re pros, we could team up, and I was gonna ask a few of our classmates this too, because if we work together, we can ensure that this doesn’t happen again!
“Heh, me team up with you? So you want to be my sidekick? Well, I approve if this means you won't be acting alone again.”
“Well, I was thinking in terms of being hero partners!”
“Isn’t that just another way of saying, sidekick?”
“n-not necessarily “
“Fine, just don’t get in my way!”
“Right!”
“Look at you two teaming up and working together, you're both gonna make fine heroes one day”
“Of course, we will All Might I’m still gonna surpass you!”
