Chance pulled Two Time's arm closer, slowly peeling off their cultist sleeves and fingerless gloves stained with dried blood, revealing the self inflicted scars. Some were old and healed, and some were newly cut with blue blood pooling at the slices.
He genuinely frowned for once in a long time, gently tracing his fingers along them as carefully as he ever treated anything. Two Time looked away in shame, resisting the urge to yank their arm away and never show him anything like this again, but then he lifted it up against his lips, softly kissing those scars like a prince charming greeting a princess.
“What.. are you doing..?”
Their head snapped back to look down at him, eyes wide and glossy. He didn't answer just yet, he just caressed their pale skin and kept kissing every little detail they had on themselves. It was cherishing and sweet, something Chance could very easily share with somebody he loved so dearly.
He hated how much they hurt themselves like this, way more than he liked to admit. but he also didn't wanna give them that stupid “dont hurt yourself, for me?” talk as if they'd stop right away or give up a harmful addiction under his command. So he just did what he knew best, and that was physical affection that didn't require a single word.
“You're really, really beautiful, timey. n' I don't want you to think these scars take that away from ya. If you'd let me, I'd kiss all over ya until my lipstick gave ya a new skin color.”
He chuckled, trying to bring some light to this situation, fortunately it made two time smile a bit. Then he took his kisses and traveled them up all the way to their shoulder, then their neck, wrapping his arms around their waist to anchor them just where he wanted them.
They squirmed a little, extending their neck to leave him more room to kiss and wrapping their own arms around his shoulders. He could tell they were starting to feel happier no thanks to their snitch of a tail.
“Y-You.. you do not have to do this for me, my daffodil. It is not your fault that you have to put up with my own issues alongside me, I should be able to handle this myself.. I am the spawn's disciple, and I am an adult..”
Their eyes avoided any eye contact once more, wanting to bury their head down in shame for even needing to utter that sentence, but a hand gently cupped their chin and lifted it up to fix their gaze back onto him.
"Y'know bein' an adult doesn't mean all that much right now, yeah? I mean sure, maybe I ain't the one who should be talkin' since.. ya know I don't take shit seriously, but hear me out, ‘kay?”
He made sure they were paying attention before he continued.
“We're trapped in this.. hellscape, you were born n' raised in a cult with no way to go out into the real world, n' you've been through a lot of shit. You're definitely not gonna always know what to do, despite how much of a smart person you are.. what I'm tryna say is that you're strugglin' and you need help just as much as everybody else here does. N' yes, that also goes for being “spawn's disciple.”
“So.. you're saying it's okay to ask for help? despite me thinking I do not deserve it?”
“Right on the money.” He smiled at them warmly, looking at his lover like he was the proudest of them for slowly figuring themselves out. Two Time froze for a few moments before pulling him into a kiss, their hands lifting up to hold his face.
His eyes widened at the sudden movement, but me melted faster than butter swirling around in a pan and kissed them back eagerly, feeling all of their passion pouring down onto himself. Their bodies pressed impossibly closer against each other, as if they could become one whole person.
Two Time pulled away first with a gasp, a string of saliva connecting the lips that were just smashed together a few moments ago being evidence of how much intimacy they shared. They laughed and stroked Chance's hair affectionately, lowering his head down to their chest just so he could hear their racing heartbeat. He giggled back, his grip on their waist just a bit tighter than usual as his eyes shut in bliss against them.
“Jeez, you could warn me the next time ya decide to make my heart stop beating..” He buried his face deep into the fabric of their spawn-etched cultist shirt, kissing the center of their chest as if he were kissing their heart.
Two Time's tail fluttered eagerly at his overwhelming touch, breath hitching like they could pass out if he told them he loved them one more time. They both sat in comfortable silence for a long time in their shared bed, before Two Time allowed themselves to break the quiet.
“I love you, chance. I love you so much. These words I speak right now will never compare to the amount of adoration I have for somebody like you.. t-thank you for everything.”
One tear started to spill from their eye, then another, and the teary eyed gates started to flood into full on sobbing of happiness. but they weren't the only one getting the waterworks, as chance rubbed his eyes underneath his shades and started to cry happily too.
“I love you too, angel face. you don't ever forget that in this life or the second one, ‘kay?”
Finally, their bodies fell down against the mattress in each other's touch, until they allowed themselves to sleep, and be prepared for whatever tomorrow brought.
Because even if they think they're dealing with things alone, even if they think that they don't need any help for whatever reason, having somebody like Chance who's willing to hold them through it all is all they could ever want.
All they could ever need.
