“Another one?” Val snapped as the imp nanny ran. Like the others, she had only lasted a day. He glared at the whimpering three-month-old in her crib. “Mal bebe, you did it again!”
Fat Nuggets, who had been lying by the crib, stood up and bared all of his sharp teeth, which Val always forgot about. Val backed out of Bella's nursery.
“Nice piggy...tranquilo cerdito...”
Of course, poor Bella was not the problem, and the nanny made sure her agency knew it.
“No one else is available?” Val yelled into the phone. “How the fuck can you have no one else-”
The agency hung up, being the fourth Hellborn childcare agency to blacklist Valentino.
From the nursery, Angel and Cherri heard Val yelling on the phone, loud enough to be heard even through the closed door. Cherri had resorted to paying Val to let her see Angel and Bella for two hours. Val didn't like having Cherri here because, unlike with Val, Bella didn't cry when Cherri held her.
Cherri looked down at the calm baby in her arms, exchanged a look with Angel, and shook her head.
“Even bloody Mary Poppins would probably quit on Val,” Cherri remarked.
