Chapter 1: Ship name: KEllis

Chapter Text

Maddy and Claire prance out of class, flipping off a group of Socs that passed by with a grin.

Who cares.

Maddy nudges Claire as they converse deeply about something. They were interested in the new teachers. Okay, well, maybe being here for a few weeks isn’t too new, but still!

Emmet Ellis: Intelligent, slightly stern, and relatively nice. He’s only ever stern when people don’t pay attention in class.

KK: Hilarious, easygoing, and also nice, but pretty teasing. She’s a lot of the weird kid’s favorites, mostly because she’s so much like them.

Maddy and Claire had an idea.

An idea that involved the two teachers in a relationship.

Sure, it was unethical to imagine that a couple of teachers would be a good couple, but c’mon! It can’t be that bad!

Maddy and Claire make it to KK’s art class, fist bumping the surprisingly short teacher on the way in. This was KK’s off period, and Maddy and Claire’s as well.

“Hey, girls! Howzit doin’ today, eh?”

KK asks with a grin, Maddy and Claire grinning back. Maddy excitedly bounces, her brown hair rising and falling with each bounce.

“We’re doing great!! What’s the project this week? What is it? What is it?”

Claire jumps in, blonde locks puffing up.

“Are we doing that weaving thing we heard you talking about with the Principal?”

KK laughs, walking with Maddy and Claire after closing the door.

“Chill, chill, I haven’t even started talking!”

Maddy and Claire take seats on the bean bags set up near KK’s desk. KK sits down, doing some paperwork as she talks.

“You two sure are persistent. Reminds me of the kids on Phonobos.”

KK says casually, leaning back. KK talked about Phonobos all the time, though, Maddy and Claire were unsure if it was real or not. They didn’t really care. KK was awesome whether she was actually crazy or not.

“This week, I thought I’d do somethin’ special! Seeing as it’s the first month of school and all.”

KK says, setting the paperwork aside as she neatly aligns the papers. For such a messy personality, KK’s desk sure was clean.

“What is it?”

Maddy asks softly, Claire nodding with her. The two girls were simply adorable. Adorned in leather jackets and jean-skirts they made themselves, along with some heel-boots. Maddy had dark brown hair, round glasses and green eyes. Claire had platinum blonde hair and a pink bow in her hair, having brown eyes.

“Well, I went to the store, y’know, as one does, and had a bit of extra cash! So..”

KK bounces up, hopping over her desk and headed into the closet in the classroom, soon emerging with a huge, and I mean HUGE package with possibly 80 pounds worth of clay. It was a whole damn block! Maddy and Claire stare with wide eyes.

“I got a huge ass thing of clay! I’m thinking you guys can make whatever y’all want. There’s plenty for all.. whatsit, fifteen kids, to go around?”

Maddy and Claire look at the clay, KK, then eachother, and excitedly squeal.

“Oh my god- we’re gonna be working with CLAY?! That’s so awesome!!”

KK laughs a bit, smiling at the two girls.

“Oh, trust me, it’ll be amazing. I just hope the other kids use it correctly. I’d hate to have to take stuff away..”

KK says, while Claire and Maddy nod.

“Yeah.. especially those boys that keep ruining everything.”

Maddy says with crossed arms. Claire nods in agreement.

“Yeah! Why did they even take an art class? It can’t possibly be a free A.”

Claire states, KK sighing.

“I have no idea why they joined art. Some of them really enjoy it, but the others just think it’s an easy class. One time, that Josh kid said that drawing a cube was too hard. When ya simplify it, its easy peasy.”

KK says as the two girls nod with her.

“Exactly! God, the boys in this school are so stupid.”

Maddy comments, leaning back in her bean bag. That’s something the weird kids in KK’s art class like about KK: She allows them to talk shit about anyone they want, just as long as they aren't in the same room. KK has ALLLL the tea. Maddy and Claire look at each other for a moment, deciding to try something. Claire clears her throat a bit before speaking.

“Hey, KK, now that we think about it…”

She begins, gauging her teacher’s reaction. KK simply leans back, opening a can of Dr Pepper.

“Mhm?”

Claire grins at Maddy. The bait is caught.

“Well, we were wondering.. why do ya hang with Mr. Ellis so much?”

KK abruptly chokes on her drink. Emmet and KK usually hung out around the school when it was seventh period, since neither had a seventh period. Of course, the school had no idea if Emmet and KK were in a relationship, so the question felt all the more daunting. It was surprising seeing KK lose her composure over a simple question. Maddy and Claire expected Emmet to freak like that.

“Gah- damn! You kids sure like asking the hard hitting questions-!”

KK says, using a tissue to wipe her mouth after some Dr Pepper spilled from it. She clears her throat.

“Well, uh.. me and Ellis are good friends! He was apart of the space crew that saved me, ya know?”

KK says, leaning back. Maddy and Claire exchange glances.

“I guess that would explain it.”

Claire says sneakily.

“But that won’t explain why you guys are so touchy with each other..”

Maddy comments. KK chuckles.

“Ellis ain't touchy.”

She says, waving a hand. Maddy grins.

“But you are, teach.”

KK blinks.

“PFF- I ain't touchy! Besides, why’re you kids staring at me and Ellis in the hallways?”

She says, leaning forward. Maddy and Claire weren’t scared of KK, but they definitely didn't want to get her mad. They’ve only ever seen her, at the most, annoyed. She’s a laid back person. To see her angry would be like to see a serial killer and just KNOW they’re a serial killer. Like how your stomach drops when your caught doing something you’re not supposed to be doing. Especially by someone important. Sure, Maddy and Claire were greasers, but they didn't get in fights like greasers. The socs were weird about fighting girls. And other girls didn't want to fight. Pussies. Maddy shrugs, attempting to be calm, but Claire beside her, clutching Maddy’s arm out of habit was NOT helping.

“We just noticed. We ain’t starin’.”

She says, attempting to keep eye contact with KK. Thankfully, it only lasts a moment.

“You girls are weird. And don’t worry, not the bad kind of weird.”
