Chapter Text
“Did I tell you to lower your hands?”
A sweet yet stern voice filled the room, making the tall man immediately straighten his posture. Facing the wall with his arms raised high, he let out a fake cough.
“What is it? Hm?”
The petite man placed the dish he had made onto the table before turning to stare at the father-and-daughter duo reflected in the glass window. He sighed as he watched his husband whisper to their daughter while trying to keep the little girl balanced on his shoulders.
“Papa, we’re sorry,” both of them said in unison.
The only response they received was a raised eyebrow.
Nani still couldn’t believe what he had witnessed earlier at the park. His lovely little princess had punched another child while Sky stood nearby with pride practically shining on his face.
He massaged his temple, wondering where exactly things had gone wrong.
“Love, it was my fault, okay?” Sky said with a defeated sigh, holding Neona’s legs to keep her steady.
“No! It’s Neona's fault!” the little girl protested loudly, gripping Sky’s hair as she nearly slipped from his shoulders.
“Easy there, munchkin.” Sky winced at the painful tug before carefully putting her down.
Meanwhile, Nani kept his expression firm as he watched the two of them.
“Papa Nii, I’m sorry.” Neona ran over and wrapped her tiny arms around his legs.
“I won’t hit my friend again. I’ll be a good girl.”
Tears welled up in her eyes, immediately softening Nani’s heart. With a sigh, he crouched down and pulled her into his arms.
“Why did Neona hit her friend, hm?” he asked gently, wiping her tears away.
“They hit Guin first! Guin is mixed, and he can’t speak!” she huffed, tiny fists clenched tightly as anger still lingered on her face.
“Guin?” Nani blinked in confusion before turning toward his husband. “He can’t speak?”
“Her new friend,” Sky explained.
“They had a playdate today. The kid’s mixed and barely speaks Thai.”
Neona nodded fiercely in agreement.
“Papa Nii, you should meet him! He’s a sweet nong!”
Nani smiled faintly as he placed her into her chair and handed her a snack.
“Sky, when did they meet? From daycare?”
“Yeah. He’s new around here. His parents just moved from America. You know that basketball athlete I told you about?”
Sky sat across from him at the dining table, happily stealing part of Nani’s snack while talking.
“They met at daycare while you were attending fashion week. They’ve been glued to each other for almost a week now.”
“I see.” Nani nodded slowly. “Then Papa Nii definitely has to meet this sweet little guy, doesn’t he?”
He wiped the cream from Neona’s mouth while eating his own snack. Finally, a peaceful moment before dinner.
“Luckily, she speaks English and immediately activated her jie-jie instincts,” Sky added proudly.
Nani shot him a look.
“And you. Why didn’t you stop her? That poor kid was already crying and apologizing.”
Sky crossed his arms over his chest and hummed.
“Nani, she did the right thing. That kid started it first. Guin didn’t even understand what was happening. She was protecting her friend.”
“Violence is never the answer, love,” Nani replied as he gently stroked Neona’s hair.
“But it is the solution!” Neona chimed in innocently.
Both parents froze.
“Nani, I—”
Sky immediately shut his mouth the moment he saw the dangerous smile forming on his husband’s face.
“This is exactly why I doubted your so-called ‘father and daughter bonding time,’” Nani muttered while massaging his forehead.
Honestly, this duo was hopeless.
Neona looked exactly like the princess Nani had always dreamed of raising. She loved pretty clothes, adored matching colors with him, and acted sweet most of the time.
Unfortunately, Sky had somehow turned her into a tiny thug.
“My sweet daisy,” Nani began patiently,
“violence is neither the answer nor the solution. You could’ve told them to stop instead, sweetheart.”
Neona furrowed her brows.
“No, Papa Ni. Fists speak faster, right, Dad?”
She raised both fists and threw tiny punches into the air.
Sky immediately turned pale.
“Nani, listen—”
“Skyyyyyy!”
The man flinched at his husband’s frustrated shout.
“Look, Neona,” Nani said firmly, crouching down in front of her,
“whatever Daddy or his friends taught you, don’t use violence again. Do you understand?”
Neona looked at Sky first. After seeing him nod obediently, she turned back toward Nani with the sweetest expression imaginable.
“Yes, Papa. Neona is sorry, and Neona won’t hit her friend again.”
She lifted both arms, asking for a hug.
Nani immediately pulled her into his embrace, relief washing over his face.
Meanwhile, father and daughter exchanged a secret look over his shoulder.
A look that clearly said:
I’m not sorry. I was right.
Nani remained blissfully unaware as he showered Neona’s cheeks with kisses, making the little girl giggle loudly.
“Now, let’s take a bath while your daddy washes the dishes and prepares dinner.”
“Yes!” Neona cheered.
“Papa Ni, can I play with bubbles in the tub?”
“Of course.”
“I’m shoo ready!”
She dashed toward the bathroom like lightning while Nani followed behind her with a helpless laugh.
“Oh, I almost forgot.”
Nani suddenly stopped mid-step and turned around.
“Khun Sky Wongravee Nateetorn.”
Sky immediately straightened.
“At your service, love.”
Cold sweat ran down his spine whenever Nani used his full name. It never ended well for him.
“I hope you’ll be on your best behavior for the next several months.”
Nani pulled something out of his pocket before tossing it toward him.
Sky caught it instinctively.
“What—”
“Thanks to you, handsome, we’re expecting another one.”
He smiled sweetly at the utterly frozen expression on Sky’s face.
“Papaaaa!”
“Coming, sweetheart!”
Nani walked away, leaving Sky staring blankly at the object in his hands.
A pregnancy test.
Two clear lines.
“Oh my God…”
A slow grin spread across his face.
“This family’s getting bigger.”
