Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

It was their last game of their middle school season.

Sawamura really wanted to bring his team to Koshien but he needs to confront the thought that that would be impossible now. They nearly lose every game they play but his friends still encourage him; they are still there for him.

He needs only one out then everything would be over. Sure, they wouldn't win but at least they had fun. Just one out and that's where everything fell apart.

Sawamura put everything he had in this last pitch. His sweat, tears and love for the sport they're playing. The ball left his hand and he knew something bad would happen. The ball broke near the plate, the batter swinging at it but missing. It would've been awesome if not for the fact the ball broke in a way to smash right in his catcher's unprotected arm.

The stadium heard a crack before someone screamed in pain. Sawamura and his friends were shocked and the umpire called for the medics. Soon they brought the catcher on a stretcher away, getting him to the hospital. The first impression was that his arm was broken.

Their coach, an old teacher who mostly watched and didn't train them at all, knew that it was impossible for the team to come back from this. He called the game and with this Sawamura Eijun couldn't play baseball anymore.

He had the yips.
