The Gravity Between Us | LenaMiu

Summary:

For as long as they could remember, Lena and Miu had belonged to each other in the simplest way possible-best friends since diapers, raised side by side until knowing each other became instinct. They knew every version of one another: every habit, every fear, every subtle change in expression. What they had was effortless, deep, and entirely platonic-or at least, that was what everyone believed.

Their friendship had always been enough.

Until someone walked into Lena's life.

A man with the same birthday, same hobbies, same interests-someone who mirrored Lena so perfectly that she began to wonder if soulmates were real after all. And for the first time, Miu finds herself standing at the edge of something unfamiliar.

Where does platonic love end when the thought of losing them begins to break your heart?

Chapter Text

AN:

Hello, everyone! ♡

We just came from a pretty heavy drama with the previous story, so this time, let's stay with a softer and lighter LenaMiu story (👀).

How are you guys doing?

Take care always, and I hope you enjoy this journey with Lena and Miu. ♡

Before people learned their individual names, they already knew them together.

Lena and Miu.

Like the words belonged side by side.

Their mothers met in the same hospital room twenty-two years ago.

Lena came first — loud, red-faced, screaming like she already had complaints about life.

Miu came three hours later, strangely quiet for a newborn, blinking at the world as if she was only observing it first before deciding whether she liked it.

There were stories their families loved telling during reunions.

How baby Lena would refuse to stop crying unless her crib was moved beside Miu's.

How toddler Miu bit another child for making Lena cry during daycare.

How they both got lost at a mall at age six because they wandered off hand in hand, convinced they could find the toy store themselves.

They grew up in each other's homes so much that both houses eventually stopped knocking before entering rooms.

Miu knew where Lena kept her spare pajamas.

Lena knew which drawer in Miu's kitchen had the medicine for headaches.

It was terrifying sometimes, how deeply they knew each other.

Not in the shallow way people knew birthdays or favorite colors.

Miu knew Lena hated papaya because her grandmother used to force her to eat it whenever she cried.

Lena knew Miu cleaned obsessively whenever she was anxious.

Miu knew Lena's left eye twitched whenever she lied.

Lena knew Miu went quiet—not angry quiet, but small quiet—whenever she felt abandoned.

They knew every version of each other.

And somehow, despite knowing too much, they stayed.

People often asked if they ever got tired of one another.

The answer was always no.

Because being together felt as natural as breathing.

They knew each other so well because they had spent almost every day of their lives side by side. Same schools. Same friend groups. Same habits formed over years and years of growing up together.

Lena knew Miu hated crowded places because too much noise overwhelmed her.

Miu knew Lena got nauseous when stressed even if she insisted she was fine.

Miu could tell Lena was upset just by the way she closed doors.

Lena knew Miu was exhausted whenever she started reorganizing random things at two in the morning.

None of it felt extraordinary to them.

That was just what happened when someone became part of your life for too long.

Now, at twenty-two, they shared a condo near their university because honestly, living apart would've been more inconvenient.

That was how they explained it to people.

"You guys are basically married," Ohm once joked after seeing Lena fold Miu's laundry while reminding her to take vitamins.

"We're just organized," Miu replied flatly.

"We are not organized," Lena corrected immediately while eating cereal straight from the box.

Their condo reflected exactly who they were.

Comfortable.

Lived in.

There were blankets thrown carelessly over the couch because Miu liked staying there during rainy days. Lena's sketchbooks occupied half the dining table. Their kitchen fridge was covered with sticky notes reminding each other about groceries, deadlines, and random thoughts.

buy toothpaste.

don't forget umbrella.

you looked sad earlier. u okay?

It never crossed their minds that the way they cared for each other might look unusual.

To them, it was normal.

Especially the sleeping arrangement.

Miu had struggled with sleep since childhood.

After years of growing up around constant fights at home, her body developed the habit of staying alert at night. Silence made her restless. Sudden sounds startled her awake. There were nights she stayed staring at the ceiling until sunrise because her chest simply refused to relax.

Lena accidentally became the solution to it when they were kids.

One night after a particularly bad argument between Miu's parents, Lena sneaked into her room through the window and sat beside her until morning, absentmindedly combing fingers through her hair while talking about random things.

Miu fell asleep midway through Lena's story about a stray cat they wanted to adopt.

After that, it became habit.

Lena combing through Miu's hair until she slept.

Years later, nothing changed.

It wasn't something either of them thought deeply about anymore.

It was simply routine.

If Lena came home late, she still stopped by Miu's room first.

If Miu had a stressful week, Lena automatically stayed beside her longer until she finally slept.

Sometimes they talked.

Sometimes they didn't.

Miu just slept easier when Lena was around.

That was all.

Friday nights were usually spent with friends crowding their condo unit.

Tonight was no different.

Music played softly from a speaker while takeout containers occupied most of the coffee table. Ohm was in the kitchen cooking something suspiciously smoky while Freen and Ling argued over what movie to play.

Meanwhile, Lena was sprawled across the sofa with her head resting comfortably on Miu's lap.

Miu was scrolling through her phone while absentmindedly running fingers through Lena's hair.

"Girl, I swear to God! Do you even know how to kiss?!" Ohm yelled from the kitchen.

Lena rolled her eyes dramatically. "You're acting as if I don't have an ex!"

"An ex you did not kiss!" Ohm shot back. "That was ages ago, girl. You're graduating!"

"Same with that girl in the pink shirt," Freen added, pointing at Miu. "Are you planning to even have a partner?"

"I'm just setting myself up for a headache," Miu answered dryly. "With Lena in my life, it's already too much. I can't afford another one."

Everyone laughed.

Lena looked offended. "Hey! You're mean."

"You know I'm right," Miu replied lazily.

"Seriously, though," Ling said while pouring drinks, "are you guys planning to stay single forever?"

Lena sat up slightly and shrugged. "I just think... it's not here yet."

Ohm burst out laughing. "Don't tell me you believe in soulmates."

"Why not?"

"How about you, Miu?" Freen asked. "Do you believe in soulmates?"

"I don't."

Lena immediately turned to glare at her.

Miu laughed. "What? Don't ask me that. I've never liked someone before."

"That's actually concerning," Ling muttered.

"It's true," Ohm added. "You literally never notice anyone."

Miu only shrugged.

Maybe because she genuinely never cared enough to.

Relationships always looked exhausting from afar. Too complicated. Too uncertain.

Meanwhile, she already had Lena.

Her best friend.

Her constant.

The one person who had stayed through every ugly, difficult, exhausting part of life without ever asking for anything in return.

At twenty-two years old, Miu genuinely believed that was enough.
