Nerva left Windford Academy and walked down the pavement, they thought to themselves.
“You know what, instead of teleporting, I’ll walk instead”, they continued to walk down the pavement path, staring ahead at the street ahead of them, and let out a yawn.
They pulled out their headphones which were especially designed for elves since Nerva was an elf. They also pulled their phone from their bag. Nerva placed the headphones on their head and looked at their phone. They scrolled through Spotify, trying to find music that they would enjoy listening to right now. Nerva stumbled upon cave town and smirked a little as they put on " This is Home, intending to listen to that song.
Their attention was on the music rather than anything they were doing. Nerva was focused on the lyrics of the song, humming along and even tapping their right thumb against their right index finger to the beat of the song. Their movements were quicker than normal as they moved along without a care in the world.
Nerva crossed to a pedestrian traffic light crossing, they put their left foot forward, stepping onto the road. As Nerva made another step forward, they were walking along to the song still playing in their ear.
Suddenly, time seemed to slow down as they felt their heartbeat rise. They turned their head around and saw a car coming right towards them. Nerva was in the middle of the crossing and attempted to run out of the way, but it wasn’t enough.
there was a loud, deafening crash, and Nerva was hit. The moment seemed to last an eternity for them as pain flared all across their body. They tried keeping their eyes open, but soon they found themselves closing them and drifting into darkness.
Nerva's eyes instantly shot open, and they sat up right in bed, gasping for air. They sat there breathing rapidly, a hand over their chest, as they thought to themselves.
“What on earth was that?”
their breathing slowly slowed down as they took a moment to think.
“It must have been a dream”
a dream that was the only explanation that made sense to Nerva; otherwise, they would be in a hospital right now, and they clearly weren’t
Nerva let that sink in; that they weren’t in a hospital, they were not even in their bedroom. Nerva looked around and saw posters for support equipment lying on the walls, a desk in the room with a fancy computer on it. They saw blueprints on the walls, and they could also smell that the room reeked of oil.
“Have I been kidnapped!” they thought to themselves as they shot up from the bed and looked around some more
“Why would a kidnapper leave me alone in an unlocked room, though?” Nerva question themselves as they then took a moment to look at their hand and gasped.
Instead of their usual brown skin tone, their hands were white instead. Not only that, but their hands were covered in grease compared to before, when they weren’t.
They walked over to the bedroom door and opened it. Nerva decided to find a bathroom, but it took a few tries to do so because they didn’t know the layout of where they were. Yet when they finally reached the bathroom, they sighed in relief.
Nerva gasps upon seeing their reflection and says aloud.
“what the...”
The reflection staring back at them was not one they recognised straight away, yellow eyes with crosshairs instead of their usual green. Pink hair in dreadlocks instead of their usual brown hair covering their left eye, but what stood out the most to them were their ears. Instead of the elvish ears they were used to, they were staring at round ears like a human.
Nerva touched their face just to confirm it was theirs, and when they felt their right hand touch their right cheek, that confirmed it. They thought to themselves.
“This face, it looks familiar, where have I seen it before? “
Then they thought back to their sister drawings, and it suddenly clicked, and they continued to think.
“Wait a sec, I’m staring at Mei Hatsume” they recalled as Phoebe would draw her all the time they then paused
“What anime were they from?” They remembered Phoebe mentioning MHA, but knew that it stood for something “, My Hero Academia, that's it “
Then it suddenly hit them
“I... died”
Nerva said aloud.
“and was reincarnated as Mei Hatsume”
Nerva huffed and puffed as they made a fist with their right hand and punched at the mirror in front of them. What made this worse was the fact that they had no knowledge of MHA beyond Mei Hatsume. They knew it was Phoebe's favourite character and that she would constantly talk about her without explaining anything else to do with the plot.
“This isn’t fair, I had so many things I wanted to do!” Tears began to fall from Nerva’s face as they looked down into the bathroom sink. They realised they could never see their family again, their mother, their sister Phoebe, and they would even miss working at Hollow Stalls, the shop their mother owned.
Nerva wiped the tears from their eyes and said to themselves.
“Crying won't solve anything. I need to find more information”
Nerva soon walked out of the bathroom and headed to Mei hatsume bedroom.
Nerva enters the room and sees that it is a mess. They walk through until they noticed a phone on the beside table they turn it on and sigh in relief “no password good” Nerva turned the phone on and sees the date they then see the year and gasp its 2128 they are way into the future compared to the year 2026 that their time is in. phoebe had never mentioned that to Nerva that My hero academia takes place in the future.
“well I guess its my present now I just have to deal with it”
Nerva soon searches for things that they know about My Hero Academia. They remember Phoebe mentioning UA, and so that was the first thing they searched and found that it was 2 years before they could take the UA entrance exam.
“Okay, so I got two years before UA. That school would have the best resources for me in this world, so I should apply to the support course just like Mei did “
they then realised something, “I know nothing about engineering! I got 2 years to learn all that I can. In order to get into the support course”
Nerva nods their head.
“Right, that sounds doable”
