Chapter Text
It was a stormy day, thunderclouds and all. The wind wasn’t holding back and the rain was even worse.
Katsuki walked up to his front door of his house, drenched in the rain from head to toe. His whole hero suit was dripping with sweat, blood and rainwater as he fumbled to get his keys out of his pocket.
His hands were shivering which made this whole process worse, everybody knew Katsuki hated the rain and being cold.
Stumbling into his house, Katsuki leaned against the door to ground himself. He had a wound on his side after a fight today and didn’t have the time or energy to patch it up.
He didn’t have much of it nowadays after giving Izuku his suit. Izuku, the guy he bullied, the guy all might chose to be his successor and the guy Katsuki had died for. After 8 years, he finally was able to give Izuku the suit, seeing the boy he loved back in the air again made Katsuki feel warm, as if all his other problems faded away.
Sure, Katsuki was glad that Izuku finally got the suit he was saving up for but because he spent majority of his money on the suit, he didn’t have enough for his tiny 2 story house, hero agency and other necessities. This meant that he couldn’t stop taking extra shifts because he needed the money, so that’s what he’s been doing.
Taking long morning and night shifts on the weekdays and then only taking night shifts on the weekends to try and atleast give him some time to reset and rest . Although he was mostly caught up in paperwork, which only made his life ten times more annoying.
This eventually meant that Katsuki didn’t have anytime to work on himself, he hasn’t had any proper sleep in a good while, hasn’t had a proper meal instead of cheap cup noodles in AGES and his house is a mess with junk all over! The very small two story house is composed of a small entrance, then the living room with a open view into the kitchen, the stairs to the left of the front entrance leading up to the bathroom and 2 rooms , a small storage room and Katsukis bedroom .
Carefully shuffling to hold onto the wall on the right to the door, Katsuki looked up as his so called living room. It was a massive mess, paper everywhere, carbon boxes still with things in the from when he had moved a few years ago, a few dishes in the sink from when he rarely ate actual meals. He knew his fridge had barely anything in it, as well as his pantry.
“Dammit…” Katsuki softly says. He was going to be hungry, in pain and ultimately going to have to write the report for the mission he just had. Although it isn’t all that bad, he’s done this before. Because of his busy schedule, he never really had the time to eat much anyways, if he did it’d be one of those FUCKING CUP NOODLES.
It got to the point where people started questioning him about it. First , it was best jeanist and edgeshot.
“Bakugou-kun, could you come here for a second?” Jeanist asked before Katsuki went home for the night.
“Yeah what denim head?” Katsuki blurted. They’ve become pretty close now so the nicknames don’t really have any bite to them anymore.
“Me and Edgeshot have noticed that you’ve been taking quite a lot of night shifts, as well are your normal morning shifts, you’re going to wear yourself out.” Jeanist stated. “I’ll be fine.” Katsuki spat. He’d be fine, he always was wasn’t he? Well that’s a lie but who would even know. “Are you taking care of yourself though?” “DUH! Who do you think I am?!” Katsuki yelled. “With the amount of shifts you are doing, it seems like you won’t be getting that much time outside of hero life, if i'm correct, you’re doing this for Midoriya-kun right? The money is for his hero suit, Don’t work yourself out, remember you’ve got people to back you up, got it?” Jeanist said. “Yeah okay, thanks and goodnight” Katsuki blunted said. “I’m serious.” “I am too…”
As Katsuki remembered the memory, he was taken out of his trance as he felt his phone ring. And guess who it was, none other than Midoriya Izuku. The man he loved more than his life, yet he couldn’t do anything about it because let’s be real. Izuku doesn’t love him back, he never will.
It hurt a lot to move his body so that he could take his phone out of his back pocket. It’s had better days but isn’t that the same with all hero’s phones? Hand still leaning on the wall for support, Katsuki shifted so that his back was now on the right wall of his entrance to his house. Looking to the door to see blood on it, yikes he’ll have to clean that up later, if he has the time…
“…Hello?” He rasps on the phone. His voice horse and dry from dehydration. “Kacchan? Kacchan! Hey, oh my all might it’s pouring cats and dogs am I right aha!” Izuku chirps. “Izuku what’s up?” Katsuki says, cutting straight to the point.
“Haha well…I may have stayed in a little to late at UA grading papers and I may or may not be running in the rain now.” Izuku said. “IZUKU WHAT? ITS RAINING HARD AS BALLS AND YOURE PRANCING IN THE RAIN?” Katsuki screamed. “What kacchan no! I forgot it was going to rain plus I got sidetracked grading the papers! Also, since it’s pretty late at night, there’s isn’t any trains or buses running because of the weather!” “WHA-?”
“KACCHANCANICOMETOYOURPLACE????”
“What? Huh, where are you nerd!” Katsuki bellowed, this absolute idiot, instead of idk staying at UA, even though it’s probably an annoying decision, he really thought he could try and go home! There’s a fucking weather warning as well for fucks sake! “I SEE A BUILDING THAT I REMEMBER IS NEAR YOUR HOUSE, PLEASE CAN I STAY FOR LIKE 5 SECONDS SO THAT MY STUDENTS PAPERS DONT GET SOAKED! THEY WORKED REALLY HARD ON THEIR ESSAYS AND I HAVENT PHOTOCOPIED THEM YET, IF YOU WANT I DONT HAVE TO STAY AND YOU CAN JUST LOOK AFTER THE PAPERS-“
“OH MY ALLMIGHT SHUT THE FUCK UP IZUKU, WHERE ARE YOU RIGHT NOW” Katsuki yells as he slowly reaches for his combat boots, still muddy and bloody. “IM PRETTY CLOSE NOW, I SEE YOUR STREET AND I SHOULD BE THERE IN 5 ”
Sighing, Katsuki puts his boots back down, guess he won’t be running to his lover in the rain this time around. That’ll probably be a good thing because of his wound.
“Mkay, get here quickly nerd!” And with that Katsuki ended the call. This is when Katsuki realised he’s still in his bloodied hero uniform, his place is a full on horror show and his love of his life is going to see it all.
FUCK!
This wasn’t meant to happen! Katsuki is now full on panicking, this isn’t what he’s known for?! He’s known for being clean, organised, responsible! Not the complete opposite! Katsuki isn’t able to move, he wants to try and move and clean or atleast make the living room somewhat more comfortable and presentable but he just can’t. All the thoughts of what Izuku would think of him keeps swirling in his head, there’s a reason he doesn’t allow anyone to come into his place for the past few years. His mind is going 100mph with these thoughts in his brain until a sound takes him out of it. It’s izuku, softly knocking on his door, taking him out of his trance.
“Kacchan! It’s me Izuku! “ Izuku softly says. “(Fuck, fuck, fuck, what do I do?!)” Katsuki thinks. “Oh wait you’ve left the keys in the door! Thanks Kacchan, you’re so thoughtful!”
Wait what? Did he forget to take the keys out of his door? Is he really that out of it…? so he just closed the door and that’s it…then that means izuku can cow through the door any minute! At this point, Katsuki gives up. He slides down the wall, leaving a trail of blood on it. He has so much cleaning up to do now doesn’t he?
As he reaches the floor, the door opens revealing izuku, drenched just as bad as him. Izuku quickly enters and then shuts the door, emerald eyes flicking towards the blood on the door. With a confused expression, he turns around and his eyes stare at Katsuki. Katsuki can’t even look at him, he has tears welling up in his eyes as he feels shame. He’s clearly so dirty from his hero work, with a STILL open wound in his side, don’t even get him started on his house. Izuku is shocked to say the least but not because of the house, or Katsukis muddied combat boots, or bloodied door, it’s because of how Katsuki is against a wall with blood on it.
“KACCHAN?? Oh kacchan what happened, did a villain attack you on the way here, is the blood dried up? Is the wound taken care of?” Izuku asks question after questions trying to understand as he bends down to Katsuki.
“I’m fine Izuku, I-it’s just a little scratch.” Katsuki whispers. “Kacchan no! Let me help you, I’ve got some supplies in my bag, you know UA students, doing the absolute most am I right?” Izuku chuckles as he gets the bandages, cleaning wipes and pain medication from his bag. “W-why would you want you help me? Aren’t you disgusted by the state my living condition is? My house is a mess, there’s basically blood everywhere and I’m disgusting looking!” Katsuki questions, his voice cracking as he starts to cry a little.
“Kacchan, I didn’t even notice your house yet, I’m more concerned about you! Why would I look at your house when I’ve got a bleeding Kacchan in pain infront of me?!” Izuku states as he opens the medical wipe. Izuku rips the hero suit a little more to show the wound and it’s bad, a nasty gash on katsuki side.
“Kacchan! This looks so painful, why didn’t you get it taken care of!”
“I could’ve done it myself….”
“Well you clearly didn’t!”
Izuku slowly wipes the wound clean as Katsuki hisses. The wound isn’t deep enough to require stitches but it is long, going from the left bottom of his ribs to near his belly button.
After giving Katsuki the pain meds. The two just sit next to each other for a bit, then Izuku starts talking. “Kacchan you need to take a shower to wash the blood and dirt off yourself! I only wiped the wound to see how deep it was.” Izuku said. “Mhm.” Katsuki says, he managed to hold fire to his tears by not giving Izuku any words. “Where’s your bathroom kacchan? You haven’t allowed anyone in this house, including me so I have no clue hehe” Izuku softly says.
He’s right tho, since he started giving more money for Izuku’s suit, he had to move to a more smaller house so that he could afford to give more to the suit. He’s been to Izuku’s house a handful of times but Izuku hasn’t been to his, they only told each other the addresses of their house for emergency reasons. “Up the stairs, first door to the right.” Katsuki says, not wanting to argue. “You don’t have to take care of me, I can do it myself, you’ve probably had a worser day than me so I won’t hold you up.” Katsuki said, voice getting softer with every word.
“Kacchan it’s okay, I highly doubt my day has been worser than yours if you’ve got an injury and I don’t. Let me do this for you please? I want to help you for all the times you’ve helped me.” Izuku says. “(That’s just me trying to treat him better for all the years I’ve treated him so shitty, even if I know it doesn’t mean anything)” Katsuki thinks.
Izuku places his stuff near a small table in the living room, not really noticing the state it’s in and then comes back to Katsuki. He softly picks up Katsuki , placing his arms under Katsukis knees and torso pulling him close. Katsuki is just waiting for Izuku to outburst on him, waiting for Izuku to just leave up but he doesn’t. Who is he kidding, would Izuku really do that? The Izuku who worried more about his students essays than tripping in the raining because he was running.
As they enter the bathroom, Izuku notices the lack of things inside it. A 3 in 1 bottle with shampoo, conditioner and body wash, a hand soap on the sink next to a toothbrush and crumpled toothpaste , and an orange rug. Izuku places Katsuki on edge of the bathtub as he asks” Kacchan, I’ll let you get ready while I get you some clean clothes and a towel alright? Where is your room?”
“The room at the end of the hall, just get me whatever and choose some clothes for yourself too because you are taking a shower after me, no questions asked.” Katsuki says. “Okay kacchan!” Izuku smiles, leaving to go to the room as Katsuki shuts the door behind him, he peels his disgusting hero costume off and places it ontop of the dirty clothing bucket. Pulling the shower curtain closed, he starts to wash his hair, the water stinging his wound. A few moments later he hears izuku knocking on the door. “Kacchan is it okay if I come in? I picked out a towel and some warm clothes.” Izuku says, his voice laced with such care it’s comforting to Katsuki.
“Thanks, just leave it on the sink or something, or the floor I don’t mind.”
“Kacchan I am not leaving it on the floor!” Izuku states as Katsuki hears the door click closed.
A few minutes pass and Katsuki finds himself in his room, wearing a t shirt and sweats chosen by Izuku. Speaking of Izuku, he’s currently in the bathroom taking a shower.
Katsuki feels bad, having to deal with his 3-1 shampoo, conditioner and bodywash. Katsuki would’ve never thought he’d ever had to use 3 in 1, he had always made fun of it when he was younger, now he can’t even think about buying 3 separate bottles of product without thinking what else that money can go towards. “(Izuku’s going to smell like shitty 3 in 1 now.)” Katsuki thinks.
He’s sitting on the edge of his bed as he stares around his room, it’s so boring, bland and ugly. No personality whatsoever. He’s seen his past classmates rooms when he would visit their houses, they’re always so bright and reflect their owners so well. All Katsuki has is plain black covers, a small closet and desk with paper and a lamp on it.
As Katsuki continues to think about his life, the tears return to his eyes. He can’t believe the suituation he’s in, his entire house is painful to look at, his health is clearly deteriorating and his social life is just as bad. Katsukis life is just miserable and the thought of it finally pushes Katsuki over the edge as tears fall down his cheeks. He tries to wipe them away but more just spill over, soon enough he’s fully sobbing into his hands.
He doesn’t even realise a greenette dressed in his clothes had walked into his room after hearing his cries.
“Kacchan?!”
