Work Text:

Jaden always said he wasn’t the clingy type.

Then he met Wemmbu.

And suddenly, his bank account, schedule, and entire personality revolved around one guy.

“Jaden, my love,” Wemmbu said one afternoon, sprawled across Jaden’s couch, “I’m bored.”

Jaden looked up from his phone immediately. “Okay. What do you want to do?”

“I dunno.” Wemmbu kicked his feet lazily. “Maybe I need to go out."

That was all it took.

Thirty minutes later, they were in the car heading to the biggest mall in the city while Jaden drove with one hand on the wheel and the other holding Wemmbu’s thigh like his life depended on it.

“You know,” Wemmbu teased, “normal people would tell me to save money.”

“I am not normal people,” Jaden replied instantly.

Wemmbu laughed.

“I’m serious.” Jaden glanced at him. “You see something you like, I’m buying it.”

And he meant it.

By the second store, Wemmbu had three hoodies draped over his arm, two pairs of shoes waiting at checkout, and Jaden following him around like a personal assistant carrying shopping bags.

“You don’t have to keep buying me stuff,” Wemmbu laughed.

Jaden frowned like the suggestion offended him. “Yes I do.”

“No you don’t.”

“Yes. I. Do.”

Wemmbu snorted. “Why?”

Jaden shrugged casually. “Because seeing you happy makes me happy.”

That shut Wemmbu up for a solid five seconds.

“Ew,” he muttered, hiding a smile. “That was disgustingly sweet.”

Jaden only grinned wider.

It got worse after shopping.

Wemmbu mentioned once — once — that he liked those fancy little strawberry cakes from an expensive café downtown.

The next day, Jaden showed up with three of them.

“Jaden,” Wemmbu stared at the box. “Why are there three?”

“In case one wasn’t enough.”

“I can’t even finish eating three.”

“Then I’ll help.”

And somehow that turned into Jaden feeding him bites while Wemmbu sat on the kitchen counter kicking his legs.

Their friends were sick of them.

“Bro,” one of them complained in a Discord call, “you literally bought him a keyboard because he said the RGB lights looked pretty.”

Jaden didn’t even hesitate. “Yeah?”

“Bro.”

Meanwhile Wemmbu sat there smugly sipping his drink. “Skill issue honestly.”

The princess treatment was not limited to just spending money on him—it extended to actions too.

Jaden opened doors for him automatically.

Pulled his chair out for him at restaurants.

Kept hair ties around his wrist “just in case.”

Ordered food for him because “I know what you like.”

And every single time Wemmbu complained about wanting something, Jaden somehow had it in his hands within 24 hours.

One rainy evening, they were walking back to Jaden’s apartment when Wemmbu stopped suddenly in front of a jewelry store window.

Inside was a silver necklace with a tiny star charm.

“Oh that’s cute,” Wemmbu said absentmindedly before continuing to walk.

Jaden stayed behind for two seconds too long.

“Jaden?”

"Coming!”

The next morning, Wemmbu woke up to a small velvet box sitting on his desk.

Inside was the necklace.

He immediately called Jaden.

“You’re ridiculous,” were the first words out of his mouth.

“You like it?”

“That’s not the point!”

“But do you like it?”

Wemmbu sighed dramatically. “...yes.”

Jaden sounded unbearably pleased with himself. “Good.”

There was a pause before Wemmbu spoke again, quieter this time.

“You know you don’t have to buy me things all the time, right?”

“I know.”

“Then why do you?”

Jaden answered so naturally it almost hurt.

“Because I love taking care of you. Because I love you."

Silence.

Then—

“You’re actually insane.”

“But you love me.”

“…Unfortunately.”

And despite the sarcasm, Wemmbu never took the necklace off.
