Two Bodies Swapped, and a Shared Love

Summary:

Boxten woke up from exhaustion, only to find out that he’s swapped bodies with Finn. The two then try to get back to their regular bodies.

Notes:

Hi
I accidentally uploaded this draft, silly me. If so saw it, no you didn’t. I’m a bit exhausted after writing this, but I’m glad either way.

Sorry for not uploading for long. My mental health has been draining, my whole body feels exhausting, my country got involved in a fucking war (perks of being Arab), and I got a draft from months ago deleted.
Hope it makes up for it. Enjoy :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“WAIT! I- Ah…”
Boxten has woken up from a nightmare, as of every morning. His eyes felt so traumatized after seeing things he was never meant to see. “Well.. it’s as usual, I suppose…” But before Boxten could get up from “his” bed, he took a look down at his hands, as they began trembling. He felt a bit of shock, his hands looked a lot more of a.. clear blue color? “Woah! Getting a, little trippy now? Really?”

Boxten tried not to think so much about it, convincing himself that he’s still in a dream. As the anxious “music box” began rubbing his eyes, he realized that he isn’t in his room. He decided to get off from the bed, and take a closer look at his surroundings. The room was tidied up with a spotless floor, and with many fishing rods hung on a wall. Next to the rod collection was a desk, with tackle boxes and multiple books on it. Boxten couldn’t believe it, and as he looked to the right of the room, he saw the same aquarium he’s once seen before on another floor.

“I’M IN FINN’S ROOM!! WHY ON EARTH AM I IN HIS ROOM?!” Boxten screamed. He felt his heart beat rapidly from his chest, and he slowly collapsed to the floor. “Why am I in his room anyway? Did we- No… we couldn’t be sleeping together. Hold on…” That’s when a thought clicked into his mind. Boxten observed the room again, and noticed a mirror near a corner. He slowly picked himself up, and walked up to the mirror.

He looked at himself, and noticed how his face was so similar to someone he loves. Wearing a tank top and black shorts, with mismatched socks and a comically large cork on his head. “No way this is real… no way this is real…” Boxten hugged himself, trying to reassure himself that nothing will go wrong. But then he thought, if he really is in Finn’s body, then what does that have to say about… oh dear. He immediately rushed to get dressed and ran out Finn’s room, he has to see if he’s noticed it too.

At the lobby, Finn (in Boxten’s body) was having a small chat with Poppy. “That’s actually hilarious! Never knew you and Finn get along so well, I thought it’d be hard for you guys to clash together.” She giggled, looking at the music box with a smile. “Hah.. yeah! It’s really not so-“ but as Finn got interrupted, he heard someone.

”BOOOOOOXTEEEENNNNNNNN! BOXTEEENNNNNNNNN!” It was Boxten, running so fast to the point he could crash into someone. He panicked, but as he tried to stop, he accidentally crashed into Finn, and they both fell into the ground. “Geez, talk about clashing together. I’m gonna go talk to Scraps, see ya!” Poppy said as she walked out of the scene.

Boxten looked up, and noticed how Finn was quick to catch him. “If your body wasn’t so tall, you would’ve been in sea history with two tooth gaps!” Finn laughed, but then carefully cleared his throat. “Jokes aside, are you alright? You seem to be in a rush!” Boxten slowly got up, and wiped his life jacket. “Uhm, yeah..” He sighed in relief. “So, aha.. I guess we did switch bodies! Seems pretty cool” Finn got up, and tried not to fall. He’s to turn the mood a bit lighter, cause he knew Boxten’s probably freaking out. “Yeah, yeah… wait, Finn, try standing still.” Boxten moved closer to Finn, as he noticed that he didn’t tie the bandana around his neck. “I don’t REEL-y think it’s necessary to tie it, no?” Finn softly asked, slightly blushing. “No.. I just thought it’d be best to do so, I hope.” Boxten responded, as he carefully fixes the bandana, making sure it doesn’t slip off his neck.

”I think we should just… go to my room and talk this whole thing out.” Boxten insisted. The two carefully walked over to the elevator. Finn pressed the button to one of the toon rooms, and leaned towards a wall. The elevator door opened, and they walked out and went to Boxten’s room. As they entered his room, Boxten slowly sat on his desk, while Finn laid on his bed.

”So it seems that we just swapped bodies with no way to switch back,” Boxten went deep in thought as he continued to speak. He began to open his computer and search for any sort of article. But to Finn’s surprise, he’s opening an article about cartoon tropes. “Cartoon tropes? Seems fishy, don’t REEL-y get it.” He said, he was a bit confused but still eager to help his partner. “Well..we are toons after all, yeah? And from a lot of usual things that happened in the show could be reality. But really, who knows?” Boxten said, as he began scrolling through numerous search results.

Hours passed, and they still haven’t found anything as to why they swapped bodies. Boxten felt exhausted looking at his screen for a long time, so he closed his computer and started fidgeting with his fingers. “There’s no way we could really fix this.. there’s.. no way-“ “Hey, hey, try to CLAM down a little? Don’t want you to get too panicked about it.” Finn interrupted him, and put his hand on his shoulder to comfort him.

”Yeah.. I’ll… try to..” He walked over to his bed and laid down. He looked up and felt defeated. Then Finn came over and looked back at him. “If you want, I can keep this some sort of secret between the two of us.. just to avoid suspicion!” He said, with pureness in his eyes. He smiled lightly, and Boxten smiled back. “Hah, yeah. Luckily we’re off duty today so…” he carefully got up from his bed and looked back at Finn “We can hit the cafeteria, if you want.”

At the cafeteria, Finn and Boxten were having lunch. Boxten looked down at his hands, while Finn enjoyed his meal. “You know it’s actually nice you brought us out in time, the thought of food always slips out my mind!” Finn chuckled a little, as he continued to chew on his burger. “And how’s Barnaby doing?” “..Barnaby?” Boxten looked up, and realized that he hasn’t taken off the cork from his head for a while now. He carefully pulled it out, and tried reaching into his head. He managed to pull Finn’s lovely companion, Barnaby Wilikers, out of it. The purple wind-up toy fish is still in good condition, his key works well and his color’s not chipped off.

Boxten then put him back and put the cork on. “Seems good enough to me…” he said, then proceeded to take a few breaths. He began fidgeting with his jacket, and kept his head low. He still doesn’t really know how to feel about this situation, but knowing that panicking could worry Finn too much, he kept his mouth closed. “I’m.. gonna go to YOUR room, and.. do a bit of thinking.”

Boxten stood up from his seat, and began heading off. “Wait, WAIT!” He stopped and turned around, Finn tried reaching out to him. “I.. uhm..” he began struggling to put his words together, “Can we.. spend the night?” He gripped on his bandana nervously, unsure wether Boxten would agree on it.

Boxten looked back, nodded, then walk from the scene. “Your place though, I’m sure your bed’s bigger.” He said as he walked. Finn looked at him, and simply smiled. His smile turning to a larger smile. He began to squeal, but then walked his way back to the main lobby.

If you thought Finn was probably waiting somewhere else, you’re wrong.
Finn began waiting near the door of his own room, slowly leaning his body against it. He held a pillow in his hands, and each time he’d let it go and knock at the door. He was doing this because he felt impatient, and ready to risk it all. He began slowly leaning towards the door more and waited.

Then, the door opened, and Finn fell down to the floor. He then looked up, and saw Boxten. “So.. why were you waiting near the door for approximately 3 hours?” He lightly joked, and let out a small sigh. “Either way, I-I’m glad you got here,” he said. Boxten then held Finn’s hand and lifted him upwards.

The two of them laid down on Finn’s bed, wrapped warmly in a blanket. They weren’t asleep yet, and they looked at each other in the eyes. Boxten blinked, Finn blinked twice. They didn’t say a single word, just gazed deeply into one another. Finn then began wrapping his hands around Boxten’s body. “This is SEAL-riously stupid… hah..” he nervously said. “No, it’s fine. I don’t.. really mind” he responded back, putting his hand around Finn.

They kept getting closer, and closer. It’s gotten to a point where Finn begins to sink into Boxten’s arms, and embraced him with warmth. Their body temperature was so similar to this point, it was a love that felt so warm. He then slowly closed his eyes, and fell asleep. Boxten leaned closer to his forehead and gave him a kiss. “Goodnight, Finn.” He then tried to shut his eyes to sleep.

Boxten then woke up up in the middle of the night. He noticed that he was so close to someone, and decided to take a look up. It was Finn, back in his body, sleeping so gently. Boxten then warmly smiles, slowly leans his head towards Finn’s chest, and closes his eyes.

The end.
