Chapter Text
“Ye got everythin'?” Tony asked. Jeff looked up at him. It was the time every boy yearned for. Summer holiday.
Jeff had gotten a note a few weeks prior, from his father of all people. It expressed how he wanted Jeff to come to the lab for summer holiday and do an apprenticeship. Jeff had gladly accepted.
So here he is now, standing in his dorm, checking his bag for the 500th time.
“Yeah, I think so.” He responded.
“Well I'm sure yer dad's waitin’ for ya.” Tony said, turning to face the other.
“You're probably right, but don't you want me to wait for you?”
Jeff did want to wait for Tony, half out of politeness, but he also just didn't want to face his dad alone. Everything was better with Tony in Jeff's opinion. Why? Well, that was something he could never figure out.
“You could, ya know I don't mind. But ‘e might.” Tony warned. He wasn't wrong, Dr. Andonuts wasn't the most patient of people.
“Fair, I best get going then.” Jeff sighed. He walked up and hugged his roommate, who graciously returned the gesture.
“You better remember to call me!” Tony reminded
“I'll call, don't worry.” Jeff reassured him.
“Ya gonna steal my cookies before you leave?” Tony laughed.
“We're not having this conversation again, goodbye.” Jeff deadpanned. He made his way to the door and almost made it out before realizing he forgot literally everything.
He turned around and grabbed his duffle bag from his bed, and then he was off.
The walk through the school felt longer than usual. The hallways were packed with people, parents and kids alike. Through this mess, Jeff had found one of his classmates who was also looking for their father. Lloyd Anderson.
Lloyd was a quiet kid, but quite smart. Him and Jeff were paired up a lot due to their last names being so similar. It was odd how they didn't end up roommates now that Jeff thought about it. Considering Tony's last name is McAllister. “Hey Lloyd.” Jeff greeted his classmate.
“Oh, hello Jeffrey.” Lloyd mumbled. “Are you waiting for Tony to go with him?” He asked.
“Not this year, I'm going to my dad's.” Jeff beamed.
“Interesting.” Lloyd nodded.
The two chatted for a bit before Lloyd said he needed to go. Jeff let him, they said goodbye and just like that, Jeff was alone again.
He scanned the room, trying to spot his dad in the sea of people. On paper, it's easy. Who else looks like Dr. Andonuts? It can't be that many.
Jeff decided he wouldn't get much farther if he just stood there like an idiot, so he began walking around.
Eventually, he spotted him. Everything lined up to how he remembered his dad from three years prior. The hair (or lack thereof on the top), the lab coat, the goggles and most notably: The big, bushy mustache. Yep, that was definitely his dad.
Jeff's eyes lit up the moment he spotted his dad. Filled with excitement, he picked up speed and headed toward his father. But as he got closer, he noticed something.
“You have become such an interesting young man, Jeff.” Dr Andonuts hummed. There, talking to Jeff's father was..... LLOYD!
What!? He mistook LLOYD for ME!? Jeff thought. This was not good.
“Did Dad forget about you again?” A voice laughed from behind Jeff. Oh great… Jack's here… Jeff didn't like his older brother that much.
Jack was around two years older than Jeff, and was sadly in the same grade as Maxwell. Jeff would never understand how Maxwell was friends with his brother. He is genuinely the worst.
“He didn't forget.” Jeff sneered.
“Then why'd he call the white-haird kid ‘Jeff'?” Jack rested his elbow on Jeff's head.
“I don't know.” Jeff swatted Jack away.
A few minutes of squabbling later, Dr Andonuts came over to the duo.
“Jack, stop harassing random 8th years.” He says.
“8th year!?” Jeff squeaks. “I'm an 11th year!”
“Whatever kid,” Jack pushes his younger brother to the side. “You ready to go, Dad?”
“Mhm, it seems everything is in order.” Dr. Andonuts smiles. “Let's go then”
