CHAPTER ONE
(Lillie x Ash, based on anime lore/story)
(mini one shot)
(inspired by Harvey by Alex G)
“Lillie, I can’t just—be—perfect—all the time!” Ash stressed, putting his hands to his forehead and pacing around her room. Lillie noticed his voice cracked at the end of his sentence, and she put her hand out towards him, to place on his shoulder.
“Ash, I—“
“No, Lillie, you don’t…you just don’t understand! I…I…” Ash couldn’t finish his sentence. His hands dropped and he snuck to the floor at the foot of Lillie’s bed. His lay his head on his knees, hugging his legs close to his chest and breathing shakily. Lillie’s eyes started brimming with tears that she attempted to blink away while also holding back her trembling bottom lip.
Without thinking, she reached forwards, wrapping her arms around Ash, which came as a surprise to him. His heavy, wet eyes went wide with astonishment as Lillie silently, softly cried into his shoulder. He looked down again as she sat next to him and placed his head on her shoulder, holding it still.
Her hands were tremulous, and she felt as if she couldn’t control them at all, but somehow she managed to ground her hands and sift them, gently, through Ash’s short, black, fluffy hair. She tried to center her breathing, closing her eyes and taking deeper breaths—in through her nose, out her mouth. Her fingers kept a steady motion of brushing through Ash’s hair. Ash himself didn’t mind at this point—his eyes were barely able to stay open, his mind was still foggy with all these loud feelings, but Lillie…she was like a vacuum, sucking up the clouds and fog and mists and leaving his mind calm, quiet, clear. Well, at least that’s how he understood these complex things—Ash was never one for creating metaphors, much less ones that were good. He smirked a little and closed his eyes.
“Ash.” Lillie’s voice was barely a whisper. “…I…love you, and I don’t care…I don’t care if you’re not perfect. I still...” she choked on her words, but Ash knew what she meant.
Ash’s eyes spilled over with tears one final time before he gave a small sniffle, and went to sleep.
