Alphys has a problem, well she has many problems, but the one on focus today is her taste in people. One of Alphys' favourite pastimes is to develop crushes on people way out of her league,which most of the time isn't a problem, because the crushes tend to fade out as fast as they develop. But this time around it's different
"Trust me Alex, this time it's different!"-Alphys says,to her brother. The reason for this exclamation is an argument, Alphys and her brother Alex are no strangers to disagreements,debates, arguments and vocal skirmishes,this time 'round the topic of the argument is one that has been fought over time and time again, Alphys' love life
"You said the same thing the last five times, Alphys"-her brother Alex said-"Why should i trust you this time?" Alex knows all too well that in no time Alphys would be back to talking about her favourite F1 team fucking up their strategy as always¹ or about the latest anime she's watching. But for right now he knows that he has to, at the very least, get her to answer his question
"I know, but Undyne's lesbian!" Alphys replies.
"Just because she's lesbian doesn't mean that you should get together at the first opportunity, you don't have the money to buy a U-Haul." Alex says calmly.
"I never said that i wanted to get together immediately!"-Alphys yells back-"You're always such a prick when i try to open up to you!"
"Please just stop yelling, it's hurting my ears."-Alex tells Alphys.-"And, I'm not being a prick, I'm being realistic,I swear to Angel, Alphys, every fucking time that you develop a crush on someone you always take it way too fast and mope and whine about how you got rejected and that "I thought it was gonna work out this time around" and i have to put up with your bullshit! It will never "work out this time" unless you slow down and don't go running around the diamond before the ball has even been thrown!" Alex tells her.
Alphys sighs, "You're right, it won't work out, but that doesn't mean that i should give up on my cru-"
"THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THAT FUCKING MEANS!" Alex interrupts.
"Don't fucking interrupt me!"Alphys is at the brink of breaking down, tears welling up in her eyes
"Or what? Is Undyne gonna come and write me up for it?" Alex gesticulates mockingly.
Alphys can't take it anymore, she tells Alex to fuck off and lays down on her bed to cry her eyes out into her pillow.

Pathetic, you're so fucking pathetic. Crying because you can't face the fact that Alex is right, Undyne doesn't like you, no one does, the only reason people stay in your life is because they pity you. You will never find love, you'll die alone like the sad piece of shit you are and will always will be

15 minutes of negative self talk and crying into a pillow later, Alphys hears a knock on her door. It's Alex, who else would it be?
