Chapter Text
The fluorescent lights buzz softly overhead as the strange man lowers his sunglasses slightly.
"My name is Satoru Gojo," he says.
"And I'd like you to join Tokyo Jujutsu High."
What?
This weird man shows up out of nowhere and asks you to join a school you've never even heard of?
Did he seriously expect you to go with him?
"Now, before you refuse, let me explain," he says.
"Can we meet up for coffee later? I'll give you my number."
You hesitate before nodding, your curiosity getting the better of you as he scribbles his number onto a piece of paper.
"Let's meet this evening. Does that sound okay?" he asks.
Still incapable of finding the right words, you nod again.
"I'll see you then."
And just like that, he leaves.
What the fuck did you just get yourself into?
You stop in front of the café you and Gojo had agreed to meet at.
It looks calm and peaceful, which somehow makes you feel even more certain that the conversation you're about to have will be neither.
Taking a deep breath, you step inside.
Unsurprisingly, it isn't difficult to find him.
He stands out.
And as much as you don't want to have this conversation—and as much as you resent him for dragging you into it—you can't deny that he's ridiculously attractive.
You walk over to his table.
He notices you immediately.
"Didn't think you'd actually come," he says, sounding genuinely surprised.
"Who do you think I am? A chicken?" you retort, already annoyed by his attitude.
A laugh escapes him.
"A feisty one. I like it."
"Alright, straight to the point."
His expression grows slightly more serious.
"The things you've been seeing are real. They're called curses, and they're exorcised by people known as jujutsu sorcerers."
You stay silent.
Part of you wants to walk away.
The other part wants to hear more.
"But only people with cursed energy can exorcise them. And as you've probably guessed by now, you possess an absurd amount of cursed energy."
His gaze remains fixed on you.
"If you can't control it, you'll continue attracting more and more curses. That's why you see them so often."
You visibly flinch at the word curses.
Gojo notices.
Of course he does.
"So here's my offer."
He leans back in his chair.
"Come to Tokyo Jujutsu High. We'll teach you how to control your cursed energy, how to fight curses, and how to use your cursed technique."
"My cursed technique?" you repeat.
"Most jujutsu sorcerers are born with one," Gojo explains.
Then he smiles.
"So."
He rests his chin in his hand.
"Will you join?"
You hesitate.
Obviously.
Nothing he's saying should sound believable.
You should say no.
Every rational part of your brain is screaming at you to say no.
But then you remember.
That night.
The blood.
The fear.
The helplessness.
Your family.
If there was even the slightest chance you could stop that from happening to someone else...
You would take it.
No matter what.
You lift your head.
"...Okay."
Gojo's smile widens.
"I'll join."
"Great! Pack your stuff—we're leaving tomorrow!" he says far too cheerfully for someone who just changed the course of your entire life.
You stare at him.
Well.
I guess this is fate.
