Work Text:
Puddles ripple as dropplets fall into them, merging with the liquid, making it grow and spread just that tiny bit further. The pitter patter sound dances on the rooftops like a calming melody. Fluffy clouds cover the evening sky, colored in an array of purples, orange, and yellows as the sun begins to set behind them.
It starts off as a light shower, just gentle sprays of water onto the fields of upstate New York. Tiny slivers of light cutting through the thin layers of plush pillows above. They refresh the flowers and blades of green, giving them a shiny glaze that reflects off the light.
But eventually, some showers grow heavier, darker. But that's where the fun begins.
And you stand there, on the roof of Avengers Compound, waiting for just that.
You lean against the wet metal railing, an excited smile on your face as you wait for that moment to arrive. You never understood some people's dislike for rain, though you suppose everyone has their own preferences. But why wouldn't anyone at least enjoy a nice shower of rain? It's not like there's lightning, which some have a fear of. Understandable. Some people don't like getting wet. Also Understandable.
But the people that just don't like it just because? That still confuses you. But you can't change people's minds once they've made their mind.
Rain freshens the earth, liking mother nature's giving it a quick clean. Thunder and Lightning clear the air, ridding of the pollen that once drifted through the air and made people's noses red and itchy. It waters the crops, the flowers, forms puddles for kids to play in.
You wish some humans didn't take such things for granted. Some just can't see the beauty in small things like this, until it's taken away from them when they least expect it.
So you cherish every moment you have with it. You only get one life, so your gonna use it well.
As time goes, clouds darken as the sun sets behind. Not a star in sight as the rain grows from a gentle mist to a thrumming downpour. Thunder booms loudly in the darkness, echoing in the air like shockwaves you cannot feel on soild ground.
And then your favorite part. Lightning dances across the stormy sky, lighting up the night in bright flashes before disappearing seconds later, only to come back for an encore.
Your smile grows more as you watch, rain soaking your clothes that start to grow heavy and cling to your skin, yet you don't care. The flashes reflect off your blue eyes, dancing in an image just as stunning.
You know you might get sick, even as the wind tossles your slick hair. Yet you stand there and don't go back into the warm comforts of your shared bedroom. Too fixated on the light show above you.
Thunder claps through the air, loud crashes and bangs that would make some flinch. Lightning strikes ricochet from storm cloud to storm cloud. Both growing in sync as a powerful display of the chaos and beauty a storm can bring.
But your little light show it put on hold as a door clicks open through the display, but you don't turn around to see who it is. You already know.
Wanda makes her way over to you in slow strides, being careful not to slip on the wet surface. An umbrella overhead, water running off the end and keeping her dry.
Once she's in your bubble, she stands close, shifting the umbrella so it can shield you both. Though it won't do much now that your already wet.
"You should've at least wore a coat, you'll catch a cold," Wanda tuts, eyes flickering over your appearance. Your only in a thin long sleeve shirt and some sweats. Definitely not an appropriate attire for such conditions.
But you just give her a big grin, eyes sparkling in delight. "I know, but I couldn't miss it. Just look at how beautiful it is," You gleam, turning your attention back to the storm.
Wanda watches the storm along with you, but can't help taking a few glimpse at your smile. You've always been a lover for nature. She swears if mother nature was a real person, you'd be her number one fan. You love to garden, being outside, and going for walks.
Being with you has definitely changed Wanda's prospective on the world outside of society.
She then conjures up a jacket for you with her powers, already slipping your arms through the sleeves. And with a huff, your wrapped up in the jacket, water droplets sliding down the material like ice.
"I know you want to watch it baby, but im sure we can do it at the window," She murmurs, giving you a soft kiss on your cold cheek before pulling you by the arm back to the door.
She loves you, but she will not let you stand outside in the rain and get yourself sick. No matter how much you love the rain.
You pout as you both head inside into the warmth of the compound, bidding the storm farewell until you get to your room.
Wanda sets both steaming mugs of hot chocolate down on the coffee table before joining you at the windowsill. You haven't moved since she dragged you inside, yet no matter how much you love it from here, the pout still remains.
You feel warm lips against your, leaning in you deepen the kiss, your pout softening into a small smile. Wanda's hands wrap around your waist as she pulls you close. Your foreheads touch as you separate your lips, sucking in big breaths.
"Love you Wands," You whisper quietly, like it's a secret only meant for her and her only. She smiles, bringing you close until your flush with her. "I love you too, Detka," You bury your face into the crook of her neck as she gently sways you both side to side. The motion you found to be soothing.
She hums softly when you snuggle closer, placing a soft kiss on the top of your head as she combs through your hair with her nails. The repetitive feeling feels amazing as she massages your scelp.
Lightning continues to flicker and flash outside, thunder rumbling as rain pours, sheets of water falling from the roof like ribbons of clear liquid.
But your no longer focused on that. Because the most beautiful thing in the entire world is right here with you. And that's all you could ever ask for.
