Sonic was casually walking down the road, blue quills swaying in the wind. He thought he was in the clear. He thought he'd put it all behind him. Even now, the thought made him quiver with irritation.
"Excuse me?"
He whipped around. "What -- wait, Superman?" he exclaimed, leaning back to look up at his ex-boyfriend. "Are you fucking serious? How dare you show your face to me after you left me."
"I wasn't ready," Superman cried out, "for a family! I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left you and the baby."
"Keep my family's name out of you mouth," Sonic sneered, readying his fist. A punch definitely wouldn't do anything to Superman of all people, but it would relieve his anger.

Superman bellowed, "I'm sorry it wasn't the right time, but.. You're my right person, Sonic."
"I've been collecting rings my whole life, the only one I could never get my hands on was *yours.* I'm done, Superman."
Sonic turned on his heel to leave and Superman could smell the familar burning rubber of his red sneakers, the smell of years long past.
There was a silence hanging in the air before it broke with supoermands heroic voice.
"The doctors told me it was terminal yesterday, Sonic" he spoke
