Work Text:
Shirakumo Oboro was not stupid. That was a fact.
It was nearly impossible to ignore the being that had used an erasure quirk on him earlier that day at the USJ. A quirk that should have died over a decade ago, alongside its user.
They had all assumed years ago that Aizawa Shouta's corpse going missing shortly before being cremated had been nothing short of an employee error. That a mishap had led to someone confusing him with someone else, and that his ashes were just out there somewhere in the world.
Oboro was starting to think that they were wrong.
Reaching for his phone led the Pro to groan softly from the pain in his ribs. Hizashi should be by soon, having promised Shuzenji-san that he wouldn't let him go home alone to ensure his friend didn't hurt himself further. The Youthful Heroine had done all that she could to help, but without the right amount of energy, he was left to nurse his bruised ribs on his own. Whatever that creature was, the nomu, as the boy had called it, had been too strong for him to properly handle. Even All Might seemed to have difficulty against it in battle.
He opened the device to see a new text from Hizashi.
Zashi: Just leaving the meeting brief for the remaining staff members. I'll be there asap
He sighed and dropped the phone into his lap, burying his head in his hands. How was he going to explain to his best friend that Shouta most likely wasn't dead? The kid had called him Kyomu, but even if the being didn't have a quirk similar to his friend's, the weapon he used was so like the capture scarf that Sho had that the coincidences were no longer looking like coincidences. But, he wasn't sure he could admit that he was terrified to know what truly happened to his friend. Whatever fate he earned...it seemed worse than death.
Kyomu's form had looked unnatural. At first, Oboro assumed it was part of the warping quirk he had, and how he wished that was the case. Most of his figure hadn't been solid, more like a strange, black mist surrounding him. But the wraps around his arms and throat that he used to attack had shown that there was something beneath.
He hoped it hadn't been painful, whatever had been done to his friend.
But Kyomu, Shouta, whoever he was now, seemed focused on protecting the kid. The same kid who had led the attack against the USJ. The kid who was seeking to end All Might.
Kyomu had called him both 'young master' and Shigaraki Itaru. For the most part, Shigaraki didn't engage directly in battle. He had Kyomu, the other villains, or even the nomu, attack anyone. What Oboro had noticed, however, was the way the boy had not once allowed the nomu to hurt anyone but All Might. When it had tried to grab him and presumably bash in his skull against the concrete, Shigaraki had stopped it. When All Might showed up, however? An entirely different story.
Shigaraki looked close in age to his students. Hell, most of them even looked older than he did. So it worried him that a kid so young seemed to be on the path to villainy. Oboro's just thankful that he seemed against hurting the students and that most harm was more emotional or mental rather than physical.
None of it was making sense to him. But thankfully, all of his students were now safe and accounted for, as things could have been far worse.
He's pulled from his thoughts by the door to the infirmary opening. Hizashi looked stressed when their eyes met. Oboro gave a tight, almost tired, smile to his friend. "Hey 'Zashi...how do you feel about grabbing takeout on the way back to my place?"
