Soulmate Fortnight Day 6

Summary:

“Even your shadow speaks to me”

Notes:

Connected to Soulmate Fortnight Day 5! I like these as a larger story, so I'm working on one!

Work Text:

Your eyebrows raised of their own accord at that. “Seriously? Does that line actually work on anyone?”

You thought yo usaw a flush darken his high cheekbones. “Yes?” It sounded like a question.

“You don’t seem too sure about that.”

“I think that’s the first time he’s tried that line,” Cassian stage-whispered to you.

“I can tell,” you shot right back. You were just trying to turn the male down in the least offensive (obvious) way possible. The whole encounter chafed at your very core for a reason you couldn’t identify. You blamed stupid fae physiology. You’d yet to get used to your new body, after all. You met Azriel’s gaze. “Let’s not do this,” you suggested calmly, directly. “You want Elain, not me, and I don’t settle for being second best.” Those last words left your lips lowly, trying to spare his dignity in the awkward situation.

That time, you were certain he blushed. “Understood.”

“Thanks, Az.” You were grateful for his easy acceptance. Humans, at least in your experience, would have put up more of a fuss in the face of your rejection. This male was your sister’s friend; you would hate to hurt their relationship over something so trivial. Maybe eventually, you could even learn what he’d done to earn such an important place in Feyre’s inner circle.
