“Let me go, Faerie, I have to get back-” Salt of Solidarity tried to get Elder Faerie to loosen his grip on the knight, to no avail.
“No, stay…” Elder Faerie mumbled into his shoulder. “Don’t leave me…”
Salt ran a hand over Elder Faerie’s back. “I’ll only be gone for two weeks.”
“Two weeks is too long,” Elder Faerie looked up at Salt.
“It’ll be fine, the babies aren’t due for another two months, I’ll be back well before then.”
“It’s not that,” Elder Faerie sat up, crossing his arms over his chest. “I want you to stay HERE.”
“I know, but I have duties I need to attend to,” Salt of Solidarity smiled at his lover.
“But you said you’d stay!”
“I said I’d stay for the last month,” Salt corrected. “Right now, I need to go back, okay?”
Elder Faerie clung to his arm. “Please stay…”
“It’ll only be a few days, darling,” Salt kissed his lover’s forehead. “I swear, I’ll be back so soon you won’t even notice I’m gone.”
Elder Faerie pouted, letting go of Salt of Solidarity’s arm.
“Thank you, darling,” Salt took a step back. “I’ll be back.”
Elder Faerie nodded, looking away.
The sadness that set over Elder Faerie at the lack of his mate cleared up almost instantly when he heard the familiar sound of his lover’s footsteps. The moment the door swung open he flung himself at Salt of Solidarity.
“Darling!” Salt chuckled as he caught Elder Faerie. “I told you I’d be back.”
“I missed you…” Elder Faerie mumbled.
“I know, I’m sorry,” Salt kissed Elder Faerie’s forehead. “But, I’m here now. How have you been doing?”
“Better now that you’re here,” Elder Faerie purred.
“And the babies?”
“They’re doing great,” Elder Faerie smiled. “They’ve been moving around so much.”
“Have you been tired much?” Salt nuzzled into his lover’s neck.
“Mm, I suppose I’ve been a little tired…” Elder Faerie replied.
Salt of Solidarity sat down next to his lover. “Would you like to take a nap?”
Elder Faerie nodded, leaning against his mate. “I could do with one.”
Salt chuckled, shifting them both to be lying down on the bed and lifting the blanket to cover them both.
Elder Faerie hummed, burying his face into the crook of Salt’s neck.
Salt gently kissed Elder Faerie’s forehead, one hand coming down to rest over the slight swell of his abdomen.
“How many do you think there are?” He whispered, as if any noise would break the gentle peace of the moment.
“I think… five,” Elder Faerie replied. “My line is incredibly fertile, after all.”
“Mm… I think there’s two,” Salt of Solidarity smiled. “Two perfect little ones.”
Elder Faerie smiled. “What should we name them?”
“Hmm…” Salt thought for a moment. “Maybe… Silverbell? Like the flower.”
“Oh, that would be adorable,” Elder Faerie chuckled. “I think… Hyacinth would be sweet.”
“We’re sticking with the flower names, hm?”
“I’d like to, they’re just so precious,” Elder Faerie leaned up to kiss Salt’s cheek.
“Mm…” Salt smiled, leaning down to press a kiss to the corner of his lover’s mouth. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Elder Faerie replied, his arms wrapping tighter around the other.
