“Well hello miss, how are you doing today?” Jack cheekily slid next to Katherine.
Katherine scoffed slightly, “A little worse now that you’re bothering me again.”
“Nice flirting,” Jack winked.
Crutchie awkwardly stood on the side fidgeting with his crutch, clearly nervous. Perhaps by the intimidating girl near him.
Katherine turned to him, “Crutchie, why bother yourself with this cocky boy?” She asked simply.
Jack laughed a little and wrapped an arm around Crutchie as to which he jumped a bit.
“Crutchie is my best friend! That’s why he hangs out with me, so don’t bother ‘im!”
Crutchie’s eyes went a little wider but quickly returned to normal.
Katherine rolled her eyes and began to walk away.
..
The thoughts shouldn’t have reached Jack too much. However, Katherine’s words didn’t get out of his head.
Why did Crutchie hang out with Jack so often? It concerned Jack the more he thought about it.
Being the bold man he is, Jack decided to ask why.
“Hey Crutchie, why do you hang out with me so much?”
Crutchie stared at him like a deer in headlights.
“What.. What makes you ask that?” Crutchie asked hesitantly.
“Well. What that reporter said-“
“What about it?” Crutchie quickly interrupted, his voice raising an octave higher.
“Hey! I was thinkin’ ‘bout it.” Jack defended himself.
“I hang out with you since you’re an amazing guy! You’re funny, cheeky, kind, and helpful.”
Jack blushed a tad bit.
“No matter what anyone says, I’ll always be with you!”
The light entered Jack’s eyes and he suddenly became very interested in the floor.
“T-that’s. Er. Real nice of ya..” Jack covered his face with his hat.
Crutchie who just realised what he said turned bright red and did the same gesture.
“Sorry…” Crutchie hesitantly said.
“It’s nothin’. For what it’s worth you’re great too.”
