"And finally, never go outside at night."
Her father's words repeated as she sneaked out.
Of course, Rei knew how dangerous it was. Vampires and predators lurked there. But curiosity won her over.

Rei walked through the forest with her flashlight. The forest was really beautiful yet eerie at night, "I can't believe I was missing out on this" she thought.
Suddenly, Rei heard a crack. She expected it to be anything but a girl her age. "Uhm- hi?" Rei blurted out. "What are you doing outside at night?" The girl asked. "I wanted to explore the forest. What about you?" Rei replied, still pretty freaked out. "Oh similar to me! I'm guessing you're from Vexholm? I came from Terahum. The village nearby." The girl gestured north where the village was.
Rei nodded, "It's pretty dangerous though.." Rei said. "Don't tell me you believe them?" The girl asked almost mockingly. "Believe who?" Rei frowned. "The people of the village. They always over exaggerate about predators at night" she reasoned.
"What's your name?" Rei finally asked.
"Jiwon"
"I'm Rei"

"My father is a vampire hunter!" Jiwon paused, "he is?" Jiwon asked as she threw another rock into the pond. Rei nodded innocently.
"Have you ever seen him like.. catch one?",
"Uhm no, but he does bring back something like teeth, accessories, etc."
"oh"

"Jiwon!" Rei called approaching Jiwon with her lantern.
Jiwon turned, "Yeah?"
"So like, I've started to read more about vampires." Rei said holding her notebook.
Now, Rei and Jiwon sat under the tree. "I wrote some notes about them in my notebook" Rei said as she flipped her notebook over.

"Some of these my father told me. He's a pro" Rei pointed out. Jiwon nodded, she subtly covered her ear with her blonde hair.
Rei failed to notice.
"Uh uhm so I came quickly to show you this and leave for dinner" Rei said closing her book abruptly.
"Bye bye!"

Jiwon walked through the forest looking for food.
2:35am
Jiwon spotted Rei in the distance. I mean, her bright lantern was hard to miss.
Jiwon didn't wanna raise suspicions or put the girl at risk. So she observed from far.
Rei sat by the tree, not too far from her home. Jiwon frowned, "shes out this late.. Isn't she afraid?" She thought.
A few minutes pass by.
Jiwon was walking in circles now.
She was wondering wether to risk it and bite Rei or suffer looking for a deer.
Jiwon gave in.
"Jiwon?" Rei looked up.
"Don't you think it's late?" Jiwon crouched to Rei's level.
Rei nodded, "Well the forest is much quieter and calmer at night" Rei said.
Jiwon slowly opened her mouth to reveal her teeth. Rei furrowed her eyebrows in confusion before she finally realised.
"Oh my- Jiwon y-you're a vampire" Rei covered her mouth in shock. Liz tapped her fingers impatiently waiting to tell Rei what she actually wanted.
"Rei.. I've been resisting the urge to bite you" Rei paused. Liz was now looking at Rei hopefully.
"Then do"
Jiwon's eyes widened, "you know that theres a chance you'd turn into a vampire too?" Jiwon warned.
"Yes, a chance. Not guaranteed. Plus, I owe you. I'm not scared." Rei said pushing down her collar revealing her collarbones. "C'mon"
With that, Jiwon couldn't resist.
Rei slightly winced at the pain but it eventually got bearable.
After what felt like a few minutes, Jiwon finally lifted her head. She licked her lips satisfied. "Ah you don't know much I needed this" Jiwon broke the silence.
Rei starred at the mark, "It's fine your father won't notice" Jiwon assured, "at least I hope" Jiwon added.
Rei giggled, "He won't" Rei said.

It was now the next day
"So you're not for Terahum you liar" Rei hit Jiwon playfully.
"Well, you wouldn't be my girlfriend if I told ya" Jiwon admitted casually.
Rei paused "huh, Girlfriend?"
"humans agreeing to be bitten is usually a sign of love.. at least with vampires" Jiwon shrugged as if it was already obvious.
Rei was still trying to process this, "so.. uhm.. ok baby?" Rei awkwardly held Jiwon's hand.
Jiwon raised an eyebrow, "You've never been in a relationship have you?" Jiwon said as she chuckled at Rei's awkwardness.
