Work Text:
It was an average day. The rain kept sprinkling as usual, and the entities kept bugging Collin.
That is, until he saw something in the distance, near his home.
He sprinted the rest of the way there. The last thing he needed today was somebody’s ARG attempt.
< collinlock16 > huh
< collinlock16 > whats this
He found a newfound chest, resting untouched in front of his wood house.
Inside the chest there was a book, surrounded by fresh roses. The flowery fragrance lingered in the air, intoxicating Collin’s already bad nose.
He wasted no time before opening the book, expecting to find some death threats, but instead…
“ H i coln
I; collin; want Yuo to
To
Wait in fromt of your houae houde hiuse tomorouw Ill be there
With mmore flower s
Colin “
…he was pleasantly surprised.
Collin doesn’t have a very nice relationship with most entities there, and he received every kind of letter
Doxxes, weird strings of numbers and letters, simple “kill yourself”s, youtube links…
But a love letter? That’s a first. The main thought he has in his head was “that’s 100% a trap”.
Like the ILOVEYOU virus, he assumed some of these weird dudes impersonated Clonelin and is just messing with Collin. But a part of him knew that only Clonelin is possible of such typos. Seriously, messing up “house” thrice?
Either way, he thought it was pretty cute.
The next day, the first thing he did was wait for him to come.
But no one did.
As he expected. Just one of the entities messing with him.
Impatiently, he went AFK to grab a quick snack. Some hot milk and chips, to be exact. It was very cold in real life.
When he came back, he noticed rows upon rows of flowers planted in front of him, each getting a different color. The roses all formed a big heart in the middle.
There was also a sign written in bold “For Collinlock16”, perfect spelling.
It felt like it was waiting for him to go AFK. I guess it knew him enough to know he wouldn’t be patient enough to wait..
But he really had no idea where Clonelin was. Not a single clue, nor trail, nor anything, it was almost as if it spawned the flowers and text out of thin air.
Collin didn’t take long, either! He spent 3 minutes max warming up the milk (he always warmed it in the stove. Don’t ask him why). Seems like there isn’t just one speedrunner in his world.
He went back inside, prepping his mining tools before diving right into the open cave.
He needed to find some iron. His pickaxe was as rusty as an old, used bike. One wrong hit and it would fall apart on his hands (that’d probably hurt!)
His mining was pretty alright, getting a few diamonds here and there. It took him way too long to find iron though. He had two stacks of coal before he had 40 iron. Funny how when he needed it, coal was as rare as finding Obama in your nearest grocery store.
In the corner of his eye, however, he could see slight, bright dots staring into him. When I say into, i mean it. The sight seemed to pass through this body, almost going to his soul.
He ignored it, because that’s just happens when you have seventeen types of demons living in your world, i guess. Some of them are probably going to be some horror film level shit.
Honestly, living a thriller plot would be better than mining. He really hated mining. It was way too boring.
His mind usually drifted to the most random things, trying to escape the mere act of slamming the pickaxe to the rocks.
For example, he was thinking about the Clonelin thing again. Maybe it was real and Colin was somehow into him. What would he even do? How would he reject the poor thing? Would he even reject it????
He should. Looking too long into Clonelin drove him a bit mad. Not in the way you’d imagine of, like a crush; but it was just so, so similar to him, besides a few, small things.
Rounder cheeks, shorter, narrow shoulders. Longer hair, eyelashes, and its coat resembled much more a dress than Collin’s, with laces and ribbons decorating the edges.
It reminded him too much of a life he almost had to live.
He should stop thinking about that. That is too much thought about a walking minecraft creepypasta. Honestly, at this point, he had forgotten about the thing watching him.
As he mined, his tool wore out more and more, and it became obvious it didn’t have very long left before it broke for real.
Time didn’t even allow space to finish the thought, before the loud “CRECK” of the metal splatter echoed in the cave.
< collinlock16 > are you serious
He lost his crafting table, and there was no wood in his inventory (much less around him..)
All he could go now is follow his torch trail, allowing to follow the path he made.
In the middle of his needed walk, he found another lost chest in front of the light.
“COLLIN, PLEASE TAKE” the sign said.
Inside, there was a brand new pickaxe; not only that, but a shovel, axe, and crafting table. He even noticed some pieces of diamonds in the corner.
Another book laid awaiting, with many pages full with ramblings. The most notable ones were
“COLLIN
YOU ARE VERYVVVERY COL
I QISH I WAS COOL AS YOU
COOL OOL COOL
COOL”
“I WISH I EAS LIKE YOOU
BE WIF ME
I WISH I EAS A PERSON LIERK
“I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
The exclamation marks filled the whole page. Collin was kind of shocked the confession came in this early; it usually took a few more dates. But it’s alright, the earlier the merrier, he supposed.
Plus, it’s been a while since he received any kind of “i love you”. His family has been quite distant the last few years after moving out. Finding partners is hard (but he won’t succumb to the impulsive thought and date the morally neutral skinwalker).
But now he just felt bad for the guy.
I mean, Collin could barely look at him without feeling genuinely ill. He wished he didn’t, but couldn’t Clonelin just redo his skin? Pretty please? He could do that, right? He had to. Collin did.
He snapped himself out of the thoughts, coming back to reality. He was tired of mining anyways, but he didn’t mind the gifts. They were nice.
The rays of sunlight burned Collin’s vision, after so long staying inside the dark cave.
A long day awaited him.
———————————————————————
He finally finished the barn he’s been working on for forever now. He carefully tagged every part of it for each animal, and each plant he’s growing.
He doesn’t have animals, nor plants yet, but he will have some soon enough. He was proud of it.
The two now roommates offered help, but he politely refused, knowing they weren’t the best in building anything.
Assimilation? Too slow, buildings always looked awful. Always either copying Andre or going out to find him.
Andre? Too fast, blocks are always scattered around, colors not matching at all. He’d often try to chat with Collin while building, but all he’d talk about was his new milestones on god-knows-what-now. Last time it was how he used -3 seconds on a parkour. Andre was pretty cute though, at least to Collin, so he got a pass.
Damn, and now he remembered the other guy. Colin, Clonelin, Collinlock19, whatever its name is. Does it have a name? It felt sad to Collin for it to live stuck under his shadow forever.
Speak of the devil, for the first time in what felt like days, he could find Clonelin creeping behind a tree, watching Collin’s farm.
When Collin visibly noticed it, it quickly hid away shyly, as if it wanted to say something.
What else was there to say? Another confession? That’d get boring pretty soon.
He examined it, waiting for it to pop out. It didn’t. However, he heard planting noises and animal cues behind him.
He turned around, met with his farm full, with a very proud doppelgänger in front of him.
< collinlock17 > Collin

< collinlock16 > sorry to break your digital monster heart but
< collinlock16 > just looking at you makes me sick
< collinlock16 > nothing against you it’s personal reasons
Silence filled the air; didn’t take long for the entity to leave Collin’s POV.
He probably could have worded that better. Ouch.
