The scent of lilacs filled shiners nose. The scent followed her wherever she went, and sometimes she would see vines and lilacs grow on her clothes.
They spiraled uncontrollably. The scent was intoxicating —dizzying, and shiners felt like passing out whenever she had caught a whiff of that once-so-pleasant smell.
The flowers were everywhere.
Lilacs, lavenders, violas, fuschias.
It seemed as if they were all blending into one.
A splash of color. It was beautiful to shiners.
The vines covered everything. Flowers seemed to sprout everywhere, even in the most barren conditions. Shiners could not stop smiling. She felt as if her mind was blooming, as if it wanted to open up to everybody, and show the beauty within.
Shiners was in pain. But she did not mind it.
The vines had quickly covered the wound and the flowers had covered the wound. It burned. It hurt. But shiners was happy. She smiled, she almost laughed due to how happy she was in this moment—the flowers cared for her, and she cared for them.
She would continue to provide nutrients for them.
Shiners entire arm felt warm. Something was dripping off of them. A red crimson. She wondered, what type of flower will bloom this time?
She could faintly see the pulsing of her flesh underneath, and she had seen some blood squirt out of the wound. She did not feel anything. Until the vines restricted around her arms, and flowers bloomed there.
Poppies, spider lilies, peonies..
She had felt the pain. She wanted to scream, but the scent of the flowers calmed her down. She would be okay as long as the flowers were here.
So, she dozed off.
Shiners lost a friend today.
She was saddened. She did not want to leave him, but she had no other choice. It seemed like the flowers agreed with her. In her bedroom, which was now completely overridden with vines and every type of flower, she had lamented.
She had held out her wrist, and the vines constricted against them once more. The types of flowers that bloomed intrigued her.
Magnolias, roses, zinnias.
Shiners could not help but notice how the flowers appeared to all be pink. She closed her eyes, and cried until she couldn't anymore.
Flowers.
All types were beautiful, and shiners wanted to be completely taken over by them.
It did not matter if..
Lily of the valley, angels trumpet, oleander—
Or if..
Ghost orchid, corpse flower, jade vine.
Shiners appreciated every type of flower. The ones that could kill, and the ones that you could not find in any normal place even if you tried—it did not matter. Shiner would cherish every type of flower. And she would let herself be taken over completely.
Shiners laughed, it was unknown if it was purely out of joy, or maybe one out of fear, or neither—but there was one thing that was clear.
Shiners would become the most beautiful flower there is. The vines constricted once more, and an audible crack could be heard.
And the flowers bloomed once more.
