Chapter Text
“Can I still be a hero? Even without a quirk?” A four-year-old girl with curly dark green-almost black hair sat watching a video of the debut of the number one hero, sobbing. She’d found out that she was quirkless, a death sentence in the era of quirks nowadays.
“Anyone can be a hero,” The man who was beside her said. He turned the chair around to see the girl’s crying face. “Just let me help you, and you can be the greatest of heroes.” He raised his hand towards her face. Grabbing her face in one quick moveme-

“Ah!” Izumi jolted up from her lying form on her bed. She felt sweat all around her body. Her heart was pounding, threatening to burst out of her chest. She touched her face and noticed she was crying. She couldn’t see; it meant that she wasn’t dreaming anymore.
Just then, Someone barged into the room, and the door slammed open. “Izumi! What happened?!” The figure who entered her room was a woman with a rather curvy body, long spiky purple hair, and sky-blue eyes. She wore a simple cream colored top and shorts. She was none other than Pro Hero Midnight, or as known by her civilian form, Nemuri Kayama. “I- I’m fine, Mom; just a bad dream.”
Doubtful blue eyes stared into milky-white greens. Nemuri walked over to her daughter’s bed and sat down. “It’s fine now, Izumi. Why? Because I’m here.” She hugged the greenette whilst gently stroking her hair. “If you want, I could stay here for the night.” Izumi held onto her mother for a moment longer. ”I-I’d like that.”
The mother-daughter duo held on to each other until Nemuri heard the snores of her daughter. She tucked her and her daughter into bed. Not before planting a kiss on the top of her head. “I’m so glad I found you when I did.”

Izumi Kayama was different from others; she’d watched as her father killed her late mother, Inko Midoriya. The man that Izumi once thought of as a father no longer existed in her mind. Her father kept her in an unknown place to experiment with her. After all, who better to experiment with quirks than a quirkless girl?
The man forced quite a few quirks into her just to see how well she would respond to them. After she’d served her use, she was discarded to the doctor, as All For One called him to enhance her capabilities so that he could use her as a vessel if he were to die.
It was only after the battle with All Might that Izumi truly felt free. All Might initially wanted to help the girl, but Sir Nighteye had forced a mindset onto him that she was dangerous. Even if it meant cutting ties with Gran Torino, Marai felt it was the best choice.
Izumi’s quirk was strong. Her quirk allowed her to use the elements to her will. It was weak at first, but once Nemuri provided her a place to call home and a parental figure, she truly thrived. The only handicap she had was her lack of vision.

It was late in February that the entrance exams took place. When Izumi’s mom asked why she didn’t want to do the recommendation exams, her answer lit the raging fire that Nemuri saw “Because I want to prove that I belong here, with my own merits.”
Izumi walked through the gates of U.A. She had her head down. Since she didn’t have her sight, her other senses were improved. That and she relied on an ability she called seismic sense. It allowed her to “see” the world around her with vibrations.
She knew why she wanted to be a hero; it was to help people, and she didn’t have a selfish goal. No, she was the opposite of her father. This, however, didn’t help as she tripped through a crack. ‘Or I die, yeah, that works.’
Suddenly, she stopped falling; she felt gravity being taken away. “Sorry! I didn’t mean to use my quirk on you by accident.” When Izumi turned around, she “saw” what she presumed was a girl.
“It’s no problem… ” The girl who had saved her pressed onto her fingertips, muttering a small “release” as Izumi felt her gravity come back. “Oh, right, my name’s Ochako Uraraka!”
The greenette looked toward Ochako’s general direction. “I’m Izumi Kayama. Um, should we head inside before we’re late?”
Uraraka let out a small ‘eep’ before rushing toward the entrance. “I’ll see you later!” she waved before turning her head forward. ‘She’s nice… Aw crap, I forgot to thank her!’

She stepped onto her bus, quickly finding a seat with little difficulty as she couldn’t “see” as well on metal as she did on the ground. The bus quickly filled up and drove off to their test sites.
After they arrived at the test sites, examines quickly got off to stretch or prepare themselves for the practicals. When Izumi got off, she “saw” the girl who saved her, and she went to go greet her again, but was stopped by someone. “What do you think you’re doing? She’s clearly trying to focus! Are you trying to sabotage her?” His voice was stern, and from what Izumi could tell, he was a prick.
“I know her; she stopped me from tripping. I’m just trying to go thank her.” Before the boy could retaliate, Present Mic’s voice boomed across the speakers, “START!” Izumi wasted no time, quickly making the ground below her rise up, pushing her into the air. Uncle Shouta had engraved his lessons onto her, “Never hesitate, If you do, it could be the death of you or the civilians.”
“WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! THERE AREN'T COUNTDOWNS IN REAL LIFE! GO!GO!GO!” With that, the rest of the examiners stopped mulling around and quickly headed toward the arena, only to stop as they saw Izumi’s hands in fists, hitting the ground as several earth spikes pierced through the robots. She couldn’t help but smirk. “18 points.”
(-->[]<--)
“My, my, quite the year, isn’t it?” Somewhere in a room were teachers monitoring students who were taking the entrance exam to award points fairly. “There are some who prioritize strength to quickly win the battle,” the main monitor flickered to a boy with blonde spiky hair blasting robots with ease, “Those who have the strategy and mind to come up with split-second decisions,” the monitor changed to a boy with blue navy hair using engines from his legs to crush the robots quickly, “and those who strive to help and defend,” the monitor changed to Izumi sending more spikes towards robots and what looked to be utilizing the air to push examinees away from danger.
“What in tar’nation?! The girl with green hair looks like she’s using multiple quirks!” Pro Hero Snipe exclaimed. Pro Hero Thirteen had a quizzical look on her face, though no one could see it. “You don’t remember? That’s Nemuri’s kid. Her quirk used to allow her to barely control the elements, but after what we deduced as late quirk awakening, her body caught up to the stress.”
Nezu, the principal of U.A., hummed, “It’s quite the anomaly, but after knowing what she’d been through, it’d only make sense. Say, Toshinori, have any of the kids caught your eye?” All Might or Toshinori Yagi as he preferred when deflated, had only one student playing on his screen. Izumi Kayama.
“I still don’t understand why you're letting her attend. She’s the daughter of that bastard.” Toshinori had a scowl on his face. Years of trauma don’t go away, and with Nighteye’s convincing, his hatred for the girl burned deep.
Nezu looked at Toshinori with a sad face, ”I may not understand human emotion, but she’s just a child, Toshinori. She wants to become a hero, the exact opposite of what he would want.” As the pros continued to watch the examinees, Nemuri kept glancing at Toshinori. ‘Seriously, how fucked up do you have to be to want to put the kid in prison?’
Nezu glanced at his watch before clapping, “Majima, if you would?” Power Loader or Majima Higari nodded and pressed a big red button. “This is going to get a lot more interesting. After all, People show their true selves when faced with danger.”
(-->[]<--)
“That should be 53 points,” Izumi thought to herself as she sent condensed air sharp enough to cut a three-pointer. She stomped on the ground to get a feel of her surroundings quickly, “seeing” someone in trouble. She ran towards them. She jumped into the air and quickly performed a cartwheel with the heel of her feet lighting on fire, crushing the two-pointer as her foot came down on it. “Hey! Whats your problem I had that!” Izumi had to stop herself from shouting back at the girl since she clearly didn’t have anything to defend herself with. ‘Yeah right.“
Just then the ground beneath her shook. Examinees who looked towards the sound saw the massive 50 meter tall zero-pointer. Everyone began running away from the robot as it began crushing the city around it.
Izumi was about to run when she heard someone. “Ow“. Stomping her foot on the ground to feel the vibrations she “saw” it was the same girl who saved her. Izumi turned her heel back and began running towards the girl.
When she came to her, she pushed the rock that was trapping her into the air by fisting the air and punching the rock away. “Are you hurt anywhere?” the greenette asked. Uraraka nodded “I sprained my ankle I think.”. Izumi crouched down and loop an arm around Uraraka’s shoulders. “Hang on I’ll get you outta here!”
Getting Uraraka to her feet, Izumi stomped the ground again and the earth came up in a slanted position. Once stepping on the rock, the rock began to move looking as if they were surfing on the rock.
The zero-pointer locked onto them as they ran, it brought a hand down down nearly hitting them in the process. “Dammit! I can’t outrun it, Uraraka, I’m going to do something really stupid.”. Izumi let the girl down and began rushing towards the zero-pointer. Uraraka could barely stammer anything out as she ran off.
Izumi stopped when she was near enough to the zero pointer. ‘I don’t have water, but I can pull it from the air!’. She got into a low stance and began pulling the water out of the air. She pulled the water around the zero-pointer, then clasping her fingers. The water went into the robot. She spread the water all across the robot destroying it’s systems putting it to a halt.
“THAT’S TIME LITTLE LISTENERS. PLEASE WAIT FOR OUR NURSE TO HEAL YOU BEFORE LEAVING!” Present Mic’s voice boomed across the arenas. Izumi was panting heavily as she brought her hands to her knees to support herself. “Dammit that took to much energy.”
As Present Mic’s voice started to fade, Recovery girl or Chiyo Shuzenji walked across the arena to find any injured examinees. “Granny Chiyo! Uraraka’s got a twisted ankle!” Izumi said, pointing towards the brunette who was laying down on the ground still. “Oh dear, it’s a good thing U.A. has me to host these barbaric exams.” Recovery Girl shook her head as she went to kiss Uraraka’s leg. “There all better.”

Toshinori looked at the monitor with his jaw dropped. “When the hell did she get this type of power?! That’s atleast a large pool of water she just manipulated!” Toshinori knew of the extent of Izumi’s quirk, or so he thought. Nemuri couldn’t help but to snort at Yagi’s dilema. “She’s always had that type of power, she just hasn’t had the chance to use it.”
Nezu looked at the antics of his fellow teachers with amusement. ”Kayama, as much as I enjoy your bickering with Yagi, we still have test to grade.” Toshinori stood up as he dialed something onto his phone. “Er, Nezu, if I may, I’d like to make a call to someone.” Nezu nodded as Toshinori went out the door.
“Hello All Might? Why are you calling me?” Mirai questioned.
“Mirai, I-I’ve decided to give your chosen successor a chance. She has gotten so much stronger then the last time we saw her.” Toshinori spoke in a grim voice. The voice on the other line went silent for a minute. “All right, I’ll get it arranged. Meet me at my offie this afternoon.” The line went dead. ‘I need to pass One For all on sooner than I thought if she’s already this strong'. God knows what if she reached her full potential.’

Somewhere located in the outskirts of Osaka, lies the Nighteye agency. Home to well, Nighteye, as well as his many sidekicks and one intern he’d decided to take on in hopes of molding into the perfect vessel for One For All.
Mirai was waiting in his office with his intern for All Might to arrive. He’d told Mirio already that they we’re about to discus something that was the utmost importance which made Mirio nervous. He hoped that Togata would do the decision and accept One For All from All Might.
“I AM HERE!”- speak of the devil.
“ Now then, let's get the show on the road, shall we?” All Might cleared his throat as he looked at Mirai’s protogè. “Young Togata, what I’m about to tell must not leave this room.” The other blonde who was in front of him just nodded, a bit curious about what could be so secretive.
To some, Mirio was someone who was always prepared for anything, while that might be true, He certainly couldn’t predict All Might shrinking down into a skinny skeletal man. “Wha?” The skeletal man looked at Mirio. “This is my true form.”
Mirio was still contemplating the fact that All Might had just deflated right in front of him. He wasn’t able to get a word out; his mouth was closing and opening, but nothing came out of it, replicating a fish in a way. “Young Togata, I know this might be a lot to take in right now, but there is also something else I want to tell you. The origin of my quirk.”
All Might went to sit on one of the chairs beside the still flabbergasted boy. “It all started with two brothers…” Mirio could only listen intently as All Might told him about All For One and One For All. “Now that I’m running out of time, I need a successor, and I decided that I want you to inherit One For All. What do you say, Young Togata?”
Mirio couldn’t believe it. All Might of all people wanted HIM to inherit his power? Who was he to say no? “I accept, sir!” All Might chuckled lightly as he stood up, buffing up again. “That’s the spirit, Young Togata. You know, People say heroes aren’t born, they're made, and I can’t be happier to give this to you, Young Togata. Now, EAT THIS!” All Might plucked a strand of hair, holding it next to the blonde.
