Wisdom and Strategy

Summary:

Unbeknownst to the team, Lance is the son of Athena. They're about to find out.

Notes:

Day 16 - Greek God.

Short and sweet, wasn't hugely inspired but I like how this one turned out :) Purpose of this exercise is to push out of my bubble and try new things right?

Work Text:

Being in space had its ups and downs. The biggest up was that he was in space, the biggest down – he was in a war. But Lance did not give up. He was not the sort to start now. He’d been trained from a young age to fight.

He looked over the plans with a frown. “That won’t work.”

Pidge threw up their hands, glaring at Lance. This was their plan, trying to rescue their brother. Of course, Lance’s words were upsetting. “How would you do it then?”

Lance looked down at the schematics, formulating a plan. “Well, I wouldn’t have the team’s sharpshooter off the mission, for a start.” He dared anyone to say he just wanted the glory. Dared them. “And, Pidge, your skills only mean so much if you can get to the controls. I’d have Keith with you, myself in this alcove, with Hunk in the lions. Allura would provide cover.”

Pidge looked down at the map, then sighed, looking to Keith. “How’s that?”

Keith nodded, moving to stand beside Lance. He put a hand in his, the action so simple, it made Lance smile. He lived for these casual moments. “We go with Lance’s plan.”

Of course, the plan went off without a hitch. The data was useless, but that wasn’t the point. As they sat in the lounge area, they began to talk.

“How did you know? how do you always know?” Keith asked, pulling Lance onto his lap. Lance really loved how comfortable his boyfriend was with touching now, he’d come so far. He loved his boyfriend, period.

“It’s a gift,” he said, smiling to himself.

“You’re good at it,” Pidge said. “Scarily good, actually.”

Lance nodded. “I know, and it really is a gift, from my mother.”

All heads turned to him. He just shrugged. “You guys heard of the Greek Gods, yeah?” some nods. “My mother is Athena, goddess of-”

“Goddess of wisdom, strategic warfare. She’s your mother?” Pidge asked, jaw dropped.

Lance shrugged again. “Yeah, I mean. She’s my mother. I have many half siblings actually.”

“Did you know?” Hunk demanded of Keith.

Their leader nodded. “He’s my boyfriend, there’s little I don’t know.”

Lance grinned, giving Keith a quick peck on the cheek. “I learnt how to shoot a bow as a child, and aim.”

“We never stood a chance.” Pidge groaned.

“Keith here’s the only one able to beat me in one on one,” Lance agreed. But he would always have him beat with a gun. “I’m ok with that, Mr Galra.”

Keith smiled, pulling Lance in close. “My little Demi God.”
