The Swap

Summary:

What happens when LS!Wemmbu finds himself in UU!Wemmbu’s body? He remembers being on another server just awhile ago so how was he here? No scratch that, where was he? He’s not supposed to be here, and has unfinished business in his world to attend to.

It's fine, he’ll find a way to leave. And he’ll do anything to go back to his world.

--

LS!Wemmbu is in UU!Wemmbu's body

Notes:

This idea was inspired from 'Possession' by AddXcttion on Ao3.
I thought it was really cool so I decided to put my own twist on it. I hope you all enjoy! (It's also a multiple part story :D)

Chapter 1: The Swap

Chapter Text

A castle that was built like a haunted house. Or you could call it a haunted kingdom.

Spider webs haunt every edge of the kingdom while the dim air falls. Creating a film protection, preventing any light source from entering their domain. It was horrifyingly dim.

On the top of one the largest castle in the kingdom, stands a spider, one that was wearing full netherite. Before making an announcement to his people that are standing right below him.

“Today, I bring you here for an announcement. Recently, the newest fighter rank has surpassed all others.” He took a breath before continuing, “and his name is, Wemmbu.”

A purple blob emerged from the back of Arachn1d. And stopped just at Arachn1d’s sides. Wemmbu was wearing his usual monarch-like outfit. His hair tied up into a neat ponytail while his gaze seemed sharper than ever.

“Wemmbu has recently secured us an unlimited supply of firework rockets. He then fought the battle for Merchant City and took their entire army.” However, Wemmbu who stood before the large crowd seemed to have no recollection of what Arachn1d was talking about.

But he didn’t try to interfere with his speech.

“And just recently, he assassinated the leader of Highwater, one of the richest cities in Parrot’s kingdom. So now we invade with our allies from Cindercrest. And destroy this so-called king’s grip over our server.”

Understanding almost nothing about the situation, Wemmbu decided to just play along. Smiling and nodding to Arachn1d’s every word.

The leader glanced at Wemmbu before declaring. “Wemmbu, I grant you permission to use all of your items. And I grant you the title of Royalty.”

With that he handed over the Spider Web faction’s shield, and finally made him a part of the same team.

Understanding the cue, Wemmbu put his armor on. Showing off the enchanted netherite glow the armor had.

Yet this didn’t answer his appending questions that he had since he got here. He swore he remembered that just a second ago he was trying to crack some code to rejoin a server he was banned from.

Yet the moment he was able to join lifesteal, he immediately got teleported onto one of the most magnificent builds he had ever laid eyes on.

He didn’t even try to act out because of the shock he had suffered.

But now looking back at it, from the start where he first made his appearance, to this entire set up. It felt as though he was all a part of a movie set he didn’t sign up for.

“I now label Wemmbu as my second-in-command.”

‘Woops. I forgot I’m supposed to be paying attention.’

So Wemmbu smiles.

“Wait, what?” Some basic looking guy tries to disagree with Arachn1d’s choice but Wemmbu didn’t care.

Not the title of ‘Second-In-Command’ nor the guy who seemed to be triggered by Arachn1d’s words. All he wanted to do is get this scuff ceremony over with so that he could go back…

Wait. Where exactly is he trying to go back to?

Lifesteal.

Right.

But this place and lifesteal looked no different. He’s on hardcore so that’s practically the same. His inventory is completely different from the one he had in his other world.

But he also died there. So technically he should have nothing…

‘I swear I saw grass before-’

“Wemmbu. If Yungyx doesn’t get off this stage in the next 30 seconds.” His thoughts were cut off by Arachn1d’s voice.

“Ban him.”

He was intrigued by Arachn1d’s commands. Seeing that Yungyx was looking at him like he was foreign, he concluded that they probably aren’t acquaintances. This means that he was of no value. Plus, this could be the perfect chance to test out whether the heart system acts like he remembered.

There was no bad intention behind his bloodlust. In fact, it was beneficial to both of them – or at least that’s how Wemmbu would word it.

Yungyx can rest peacefully knowing he was a confident soldier that stood up for his pride and Wemmbu would do the honours to take his life.

1… 2… 3…

Internally he was counting, waiting for the second it hit 30 so that he could hunt. Excitement pumps through his blood, curious to see Yungyx next move.

However, that died as quickly as it came. Since Yungyx immediately decided to jump down even before 10 seconds was up.

After that, Arachn1d continued speech of terror – or something but Wemmbu wasn’t paying attention. And soon the ceremony came to an end.

.

.

With his mace in hand he can’t help but feel the missing sensation he once felt on lifesteal. Where he was considered one of the most powerful people on the server, and was known to be a complete wildcard.

He can’t help but sigh out loud from the sweet-sweet thoughts of the past. In the end, his teammates betrayed him and got him banned.

“Wemmbu!” An iron player called out.

Looking over to the noise he saw someone call Jaden_MAN running over to him.

‘Now. Who the fuck is he?’

‘Do I know him? Or is he some random person that called on me just because? I mean, do I care if he knows me? Well, he's an iron player anyways, definitely a quick drop.’

Jaden definitely saw Wemmbu sizing him up because he unintentionally stumbled back.

“What?” Wemmbu answers blatantly, as his grip on the mace loosen.

“You’re Royalty now.”

“Yea. I guess.”

“You're closer to obtaining your goal now.” Jaden nudges Wemmbu's arm.

‘Okay so he does know ‘me’. My goal? ‘I’ had a goal?’

Ls!Wemmbu had always been good at hiding his intentions. So when he smiled and placed his arms behind his head showing a more sluggish demeanor. He knew for a fact that Jaden felt calmer.

And maybe it would look more like the Wemmbu he remembered.

“Yeah…”

“We will be able to leave.” Jaden whispered before chuckling awkwardly about the statement.

‘Leave huh?’

“Wemmbu.” Yungyx approaches them, scaring Jaden a little. His tone carried a sternness rather than the hostility that was shown a while ago.

“Arachn1d needs us to gear up. So come with me and gear up.”

It was more of an order than a suggestion.

Instinctively, Wemmbu looks over to Jaden for something– anything. But Yungyx shut down Wemmbu’s concern almost immediately.

“Jaden won't be coming. I'll take you straight to Eggchan after gearing up.”

‘More names mentioned. Sweet.’

Not that he gave a damn.

But gearing up does sound like a good idea. Looking at his inventory right now, it was almost completely empty. With only a mace and shield in hand, this was the perfect opportunity if he were to ever want to attack.

“Lead the way.” He didn't even try to hide his smile, which made Yungyx give him an odd look before leading him to the armory.

.

.

After filling both his inventory and ender chest with everything he could have possibly wanted he was taken to the player name Egghan.

The walk was so complex that only a genius would have figured it out. In simple words, it was annoying.

Wemmbu was looking everywhere but the main path. While Yungyx was constantly trying to catch glances at him. On multiple occasions during the stroll, he saw Wemmbu just straight up yawning.

Yet just three hours ago he heard that Wemmbu tried to sneak into the main castle to find Eggchan on his own.

He doesn’t know if Wemmbu had serious mood swings or he might actually be bipolar.

Either way it wasn’t something Yungyx wanted to focus on.

Both of them soon reached a door that was heavily guarded hidden behind a corridor of a retractable bookshelf.

“Guards. We’re going to enter now. Would you mind opening the door for me?” Yungyx turned to the guards as an intoxicating warmth filled their system.

Wemmbu instantly realised that the feeling was caused by mining fatigue that entered his system but didn’t question it.

When he entered he saw something that resembles more like a bedroom chamber than a prison, which he thought was quite unexpected since the person ‘Eggchan’ seemed to be under surveillance by the amount of guards that were in the room.

One, two, three, four, five–

“The guards are mostly a formality. I know you can take them, but you’d be really stupid to try something right now.”

Well, Yungyx's words were not wrong. But that only applied when Wemmbu cared.

“This is true. Heh. I can take them.” The guy who was sitting on the only chair in the room spoke up. And that was none other than Eggchan.

He’s Eggchan?’

It’s almost baffling to Wemmbu, that the person in ‘jail’ was some random eyeball who was dressed in a suit. He can’t help but laugh maniacally.

“You’re the person?” He continues laughing uncontrollably.

Yungyx, taken back by Wemmbu’s sudden outburst, decided to wait outside instead.

“Trapped behind so many closed doors that it felt like I was getting played. And YOU were the person I was trying to get to?”

Something was off.

Maybe it’s the way he stood, or maybe the way he had his mace out the entire time.

Wemmbu felt different…

So Egg took a closer look at him. His eyeball-like head peeled into a human head. One with fluffy white hair and wings covering most parts of his face.

He squinted his eyes, closing the gap between them.

Once Wemmbu calmed down, he opened his eyes to find Eggchan standing a tad bit too close. But he wasn’t fazed by it, and expressed a confused face almost instantly.

This isn’t the Wemmbu he knew.

The one he knows would have punched him on the shoulder asking what’s wrong with him.

In contrast, this person stood with confidence. He didn’t bark or dismiss Egg because he grew. Instead he carried a demeanor where you didn’t want to mess with.

“Dude, who are you?”

His eyes widened. That question completely caught Wemmbu off guard.

He didn’t expect that out of everyone that he saw so far, the person that would call him out was the one person he underestimated.

“Maybe you are special after all.” This time it was Wemmbu who leaned in, prompting Egg to stumble back.

“So who are you?” He squinted his eyes, carefully analyzing the man who stood in front of him.

Wemmbu smiled. And somehow that was a more terrifying response than any other he could have given.

Or so Egg thought.

“Let me cut to the chase. My name is Wemmbu. Not the Wemmbu you know but still called Wemmbu. Everything I have experienced here for the last 20 minutes does not feel familiar at all. The place I came from is different, it was raw and chaotic.” He thought about his words then continued.

“Not that this place isn’t chaotic. But the server I come from is dangerously so. This place… it all feels so structured.”

Egg hush this Wemmbu to keep his voice down. But to no avail so he just gave up.

“In simple words you’re in a different alternative.”

Star struck by Egg’s simplicity, he nods enthusiastically.

“Maybe you are special.”

“This is like the second time you have said that. But thanks. I’ve been knowing I’m special… since the day I was trapped.” He answered almost bluntly.

“Then oh so special one,” he humoured. “How do I get back home?”

Egg thought about it for a while. “Oh! I may have something written about this in a book.”

He immediately stumbles back to his writing table to find a book that may have some sort of answers to this casualty, even Wemmbu was starting to have hope that he didn’t have to kill half the population to get some answers.

Yet all good things must come to an end.

“Wemmbu, your time is up. Get out of there.” The prison opens and Yungyx could be seen standing by the entrance.

“I’m going to fucking kill you.” Wemmbu didn’t even hesitate to threaten Yungyx, taking a snapshot out on one hand and having his elytra on the other. And was ready to attack.

Before Yungyx could remind Wemmbu who he’ll be sacrificing, Eggchan stepped in.

“Yo! Just go with him–”

“Don’t tell me what to do. You’re not an exception.” His laughter only caused Egg's stomach to churn. Wearing a face so identical to his friend, yet their treatment towards him was miles apart.

Egg gritted his teeth, trying to get this conversation to end as quickly as he could. So he could have his friend back.

“Listen man! I had 16 pearls thrown. Even if you kill them you won’t gain anything. You’ll lose your only source to get home!” He took a breath to compose himself and continued, “just do as you’re told and I promise that you’ll get the information.”

Egg was only half certain this might work.

While he didn’t necessarily care about this particular Wemmbu, he didn’t want to die either. Especially by the hands of his best friend– partial friend.

Wemmbu visibly looked more relaxed, after keeping both his snapshot and elytra he walked towards the exit door. Right as he was about to leave, he turned back to look at Eggchan.

A grin formed as he spoke, “If you break your promise I’ll break your neck.”

His gaze was horrifying. It looked like old Wemmbu, the one who didn’t care about anything other than his pride. Even then he never crossed a line with Egg. He cared about Egg, to an extent that he changed for him.

They had a similar crimson glint to his vivid purple iris. This Wemmbu’s glint was just bigger… and he probably didn’t care about Eggchan at all.

Egg rubbed his neck; it felt like there was a constant reminder that his life was on the line.

“Well I guess this would keep me entertained for a while.” He mumbled under his breath. He took another breath as he walked right back to seat by his desk. I guess today he was searching for a book that may not exist.
