Work Text:

[In the Quiet Library of Hope’s Peak Academy]
Celestia Ludenberg, The Ultimate Gambler with The Darkest personality in the building, has entered the area with a sharp smile on her face. Deep within the library, Byakuya Togami, The Ultimate Affluent Progeny and probably The Worst Man Alive, was reading a book in peace and quiet.
*Puf*
He closed his book as soon as he saw Celestia, then he asked: “What do you want?”
Celestia: “Oh... Nothing much....”
Then she pulled out some Poker Cards and suggested with a seductive tone: “I just want to play a game.”
Byakuya did not faze, but he humored her proposal and let her join his peace.
Celestia: “Interesting, I was certain you’d reject.”
Byakuya: “I’m only allowing it because I’d win.”
“Ohh.” Celestia showed even more interest.
Later, both of them sat around a table and began a game of poker.
As Celestia started shuffling, Byakuya squinted and concentrated on her hands.
“I know what you’re thinking.” Celestia’s remark made her opponent look up, “You’re thinking I’d cheat my way to victory, but that’s not fun now isn’t it?”
Byakuya: “If that’s the case, why not let me shuffle?”
Celestia: “Because you’re a liar.”
Byakuya was silenced and started gazing.
Celestia: “You are someone who will do anything to win, even cheating; I can’t let your desire ruin a good game of cards.”
Byakuya smirked after hearing that, retaliating after relaxing: “Just hand me the cards, I can take you with or without cheap tactics.”
Celestia then started dealing, and Byakuya focused on the cards he was given.
“Game on.” Celestia declared and sat down.
With them both buried in their cards, Celestia’s face remained with a smile and Byakuya’s showed decisive confidence.
“Eager?” Celestia asked.
Byakuya: “You’re just as confident yourself, got any kings?”
Celestia shook her head then replied: “This is a game where only of us walks alive.”
Byakuya: “You are not even trying.”
Celestia: “That’s the plan, I won every gamble I entered.”
Byakuya: “This is no gamble, a good game gives result based on Skill and Tactics.”
Celestia: “A Good Game is one where anything happens.”
Byakuya: “Something you can’t account for doesn’t count.”
Celestia: “Yet here we are, stuck together playing poker.”
Byakuya: “Every card has its place.”
He looked into Celestia’s eyes and continued: “Even those held by the enemy.”
Celestia: “But to win, you also need to account for what you have.”
Byakuya: “Cut the charade, this is not about Paperwork.”
Celestia: “Look around you, you’ve already lost.”
Byakuya, however, looked at his cards and saw 4 Kings, so he felt very confident.
“Don't count your chickens before they hatch.” He declared proudly, and yet, Celestia’s face remained the same.
Blinded by his sense of victory, Byakuya declared to Celestia’s face: “Four Knights! Read them and weep.”
Celestia put her hand on her mouth, suddenly changing her expression.
“Heh, you lost.” Byakuya declared proudly.
Celestia: “No, I’m just surprised you’ve been dealt such a good hand, but...”
She revealed her deck and Byakuya’s confidence washed away.
“Straight Flush”
Celestia’s mocking smile was engraved in Byakuya’s memory, he realized he never had a chance.
Celestia: “You wanted to win so badly, you forgot who you were dealing with.”
Byakuya: “But... You cheated! You only won because you--.”
“Dealt those cards?” Celestia interrupted. “Give me a break; I only won because Fate Favoured Me.”
Byakuya: “How dare you lie to my face?!”
Celestia: “Oh? I didn’t know you had a lie detector in those glasses.”
Byakuya clenched his teeth in that moment and suppressed his frustration.
Celestia: “I just got lucky. Plain. And. Simple. Even the swimming bimbo can understand this concept.”
Right then, her gaze got intense followed by a threat: “You should feel lucky you only lost at poker, otherwise you wouldn’t be standing right now.”
Byakuya stayed on his feet for a while, but then his shock broke with a soft laughter.
“You are a dangerous bitch.” Byakuya did not hold back, “Was this your attempt to display power? If it was, I assure you all you did was make me more careful around you.” He laughed it off.
Celestia: “Exactly my point.”
*Fwerp*
She reverted the cards back to her hand.
“Cross me, and you will lose.” Her message was fully sent and Byakuya stood in his place.
“Please have a good day.” Celestia moved out with an innocent smile, leaving behind a single card.
Byakuya picked the card and saw The Joker, and it pissed him off so much he crushed the card in his hand.
“She will pay for this.”
{The End}

Notes:

When Celestia came out of the Library, she was greeted by Hifumi who was looking up to her like a puppy. Celestia scoffed and walked then he followed her.
When Byakuya walked out, he was greeted with Toko who asked him many questions including: “Is master alright? Do you want me to hurt her?”
Byakuya: “Shut your mouth.”
Toko: “Meep How dare she make Master angry! She will--.”
Byakuya: “I said silence!”
Toko zipped her mouth, then left along with Byakuya.
After they were gone, Yasuhiro, Aoi, and Makoto emerged from behind the Library Walls and Yasuhiro asked an important question: “What was that game about?”
Aoi’s Face was red with anticipation that she said excitedly: “OTP.”
