Chapter Text
Everyone in Makochi town knew who Sakura Haruka is. To the towns folk he was the hot-headed outsider who quickly made their town his home. To Kotoha he was the stubborn, but kind misunderstood kid who learned to open up to people. To everyone at Furin, Sakura was the caring, self sacrificing friend, who can easily blush at the smallest complements. From helping the town from his small acts of kindness, of cleaning up graffiti from buildings of local shops owners, or helping the elderdly carry their shopping ( which he definitely doesn’t do it cause he wants to.)
To saving the town from rival gangs numerous times from shishitorin, keel, gravel and Noroshi. Many knew Sakura didn’t come from the most loving family, I mean, which loving family would leave their kid in some rundown crappy apartment. But that’s all they knew. All they dared to know. As to ask to much would surely cause their not quick to trusting friend to block them out. So that’s where they left. And presides, everything seems fine. Over time Sakura had learnt to let people in. He smiles and even laughs more often, his development from when he first came to their small humble town had drastically improved. So everything must be doing ok. So to say someone in Makochi town didn’t know who a boy called Sakura Haruka was, could be like saying the sky was pink, as it was simply not true.
Everyone in Makochi town knew who Sakura Haruka is.
At least they think they do.
‘ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!’
‘MISRABLE WORTHLESS EXCUSE OF A HUMAN BEING!!!’
‘USELESS! WORTHLESS!! CURSED FREAK!!!’
Shut up
“PEOPLE LIKE YOU SHOULD JUST GO DIE IN A DITCH SOMEWHERE!!!!!”
SHUT UP!!!
“DID YOU HEAR WHAT HAPPENED?”
“TO SOMETHING LIKE THAT”
No
“TO THINK HE COULD DO SUCH A THING TO HIS @>/=÷#”
I didn’t mean t-
“I’M SUPRISED PEOPLE ARE STILL WILLING TO LOOK AFTER HIM”
Yeh well its not like I asked for their shitty help.
“BUT TO SOMEINE SO YOU COULD BE A @,#&÷#÷#”
Cold sweat trickled down Sakura’s face as he lay on his thin futon panting, as if he ran a marathon. He lay there for a couple of minutes steadying his breathing to a somewhat normal breathing pattern. Lifting up his upper body to a sitting position, he cursed under his breath. Annoyed at being woken up from past memories that definitely no longer bothered him( yeh sure). Looking at his phone, to check the time, as sleep was no longer a viable option. The illuminated light showed it had just turned to 01:00 am. ‘Great I still had 5 minutes before my alarm went off.’ Once again cursing under his breath Sakura made his way around his small apartment building to get ready for the long day no one woukd know he had ahead of him.
The streets of the town were quite, after all there were no small gangs stupid enough to step foot here, especially after the war between Furin and her allies and Noroshi. The town was still shaken up after the fighting, and still some parts of the community are shaken up. However, this is not the main reason they were quite. The sun had not yet made an appearance over the horizon of Makochi, so many of the residence if not all of the residence were fast asleep, especially the boys at furin who had just finished dealing with Endo and Takeshi’s antics.
So the streets where practically silent. Practically silent. As amidst the black blanket that consumed their town, the faint sound of flickering street lights, and the chirps of the odd cricket or two was all their to fill the silence, nothing out of the ordinary, except for the sound of footsteps that could be heard wondering through the streets. Footsteps belonging to none other than Sakura Haruka.
The faint sound of footsteps, meandered through the streets of the town, and even beyond it, crossing over to shishitorin territory. For Sakura to be in their territory, wouldn’t be any issue, as the school year progressed he formed bonds with shishitorin, he even considered them friends and came to lend a helping hand when they were in trouble. So no it wasn’t strange for Sakura to be their, what would be strange was that he was their in the middle of the night. Sakura wearing in his usual outfit, that was not his school uniform, of black jeans, a plain white t shirt and a black zip up hoodie (the only outfit he could actually put together). Made his way through the serene streets. After what felt like a never ending journey through the dark streets, Sakura reached his destination. A grand building that was barely visible at a fist glance due to it being a dark almost black in colour. With a sign at the very top that Sakura had not given even a second of recognition to. Why? Because his eyes had the unfortunate pleasure of already seeing it countless times, so much so he could provably recite all the information on it if you asked him to. Before making his way in to the gloomy building in front of him he pulls out his phone.
02:23 am
Releasing a breath he didn’t know he was holding, Sakura now juat stepping into the building, only to be meat with a averaged height, lean bold man, who appeared to be in his early 40’s with a sickening and cruel smile, sitting behind a desk with a small card standing on it reading, ‘manager’. Before managing to escape the inevitable the man spoke.
“Ah! look who finally showed up,” he says in an overly dramatic and far to cheery way for 2 am.
“y’know I was getting really worried that my STAR employee wasn’t goanna show up, but you never seem to disappoint do you now, Sakura-kun~~”
He continued in a sing song sort of way, knowing full that he would rather be literally anywhere but here at 2am!!!!!! To tired and to annoyed at this loud and irritating start to the day, Sakura failed to realise that his boss was waiting for an answer.
“Well Sakura” he said in a more serious and harsh tone,
“not even going to greet your boss, even after allowing you to work a job your far to young to be allowed to?” Getting caught out of his daze, and swiftly realising what the situation is he quickly replied.
“.......Um yes Sora-san.” He said in an even voice wanting and hoping that was the right response. “Good! Anywayyyyyy~~~~ today is going to be a bit tricky” ‘by a bit he defiantly means todays goanna be hell’ Sakura thought “ We received a lot of important material you know the usual wood logs, metal bars, concrete, stuff like that but a lot of it, about 3 times the usual import amount butttttt” He didn’t like where this was going. “ You have to do this without the support if your fellow employees and i expect this to be done as soon as possible, let me see say in 4 hours. Yes that should be plenty of time for a strong guy like you.” And their it was, internally Sakura wanted to scream at this guy, and explain, carrying the regular amount was already taxing enough, but for him to carry 3 times the amount of heavy material was both stupid and idiotic but to do it by himself and without the help of anyone else was pure idiocy. But that’s what he thought internally instead, calmly with ought any slight emotion in his voice he replied “Yes, Sora-san,” and quickly went to work. And he did work, for the next 4 hours that seems to last forever. Lifting, carrying, moving , adjusting raw material that weighed more than any weight Sakura has ever lifted. Carefully manoeuvring them so he would not injure himself. But that was just giving him more struggle for his false fantasy as, of coarse a thick bag of concrete ended up falling on his head spilling on the ground. ‘That’s goanna be an issue,’
And after 4 gruelling hellish hours, Sakura finished. To the sheer surprise and slight dismay of his boss’s face. ‘The hell’s he disappointed for?!’ “Well it looks like your actually finished, hmmm I didnt thibk you could actually do it. But oh what this, it seems you spilled quite a lot. What a shame....... guess ill just take it out your pay, which in the desk when you leave.” “Haa!! Wait I didn’t eve-“ but before he could finish what he was saying, Sora cut him off. “I’m sorry, I don’t believe I was clear enough. Take your money. And Get. Out.” Knowing arguing would only cause more harm than good, Sakura did just that took the envelope of him pay check, and right when he was about to leave. “I expect you here same time tomorrow Sakura.” Having his back to him, gritting his teeth together, so hard that they could actually crack. Anger and frustration now painted on his face. But he could only give one reply. “Yes, sir.” And with that he left.
Everyone in Makochi town knows who Sakura is.
But no one in that town knows he secretly, and technically illegally works in moving shipment material on week days.
No one knew he works part time in a dinner on weekends.
No one knew that coming to Makochi town to be the top of Furin was the only reason he’s here.
No one knew the true darkness that is lives with Sakura.
No one knows Sakura is foeced debt to pay off.
No one in Makochi town knows Sakura Haruka is a murderer.
