Arthur gazed out of the crystal window, watching the rain as it pattered on the glass, it had grown heavy in seconds "its chucking it down out there!" the Englishman exclaimed watching as people scrambled to find shelter or a place under someone’s umbrella. Arthur gave a gentle chuckle picking up his teacup and taking a soft sip from the cup. Kiku glanced up at Arthur's statement "i suppose your use to this weather, hm?" he gave a small smile, gauging the Englishman's reaction. Arthur rolled his eyes, but didn’t take much offence, taking another sip of the tea, he glanced around the coffee shop, the scenery was cosy and homely, locals joining them to have a refreshing cuppa and to shelter from the rain pelting it down outside. Kiku glanced up from his teacup "the shop is closing soon for the day, were gonna have to leave soon..." he looked out the window in distaint, it was still having a heavy down pour. Arthur groaned as he followed suit, watching the clouds swirl in the sky in dark hues of grey and silver. "it looks grim out there..." he whined, looking around the shop as people slowly dispersed from the cafe, taking an umbrella with them, the Englishman turned back to the Japanese man. "i don’t suppose you brought a-" he was cut off by a soft shake of the other personified countries head, making Arthurs face fall "oh...".
the cafe owner started to walk their way to their table, the cafe owner had , long, lustrous hair tied back into a messy ponytail, and wore a understanding expression, making her way over, she gave a gentle smile, talking to Kiku in soft Japanese. Arthur tried to listen in to the conversation but the language barrier was significant, all he could catch from the Woman and his friend's conversation was thank you and sorry. Arthur frowned though he didn’t complain about it though, instead he watched kiku, his soft spoken voice made his heart flutter, he gave a small smile, day dreaming about his "friend" this little crush kind of thing was slowly growing on him, though he'd never tell this to Kiku not wanting to ruin their close relationship from over the years, or loose when Kiku talks to him with that gentle voice or looks at him with those hazelnut eyes. "Arthur?" that gentle voice he'd been thinking about sliced through his thoughts like a kitchen knife through butter, Arthur's eyes widened as he realised that his crush had caught him day dreaming. his face flushed with embarrassment. "ah! sorry were you saying something?" he cleared his throat. Kiku gave him a slight look of confusion before continuing what he had been saying before Arthur went into dream land. "we're going to have to leave now, im sure you’ve had a long day travelling this far to see me from the other side of the world" he gave a gentle smile, putting their teacups onto a tray, cleaning up behind them. the cafe owner had long gone left making Arthur try and think just how long he had been day dreaming for, Arthur's face blushed further at his rudeness, hoping kiku wouldn’t take it to heart that Arthur hadn’t been listening to what he was being told. Once Kiku had finished cleaning up the table he grabbed his coat, momentarily forgetting about the rain outside, the pair waved away to the cafe owner who in turn gave back a soft smile at their departure. Arthur stepped out of the oak doorway first, holding open the door in a gentlemanly manner, watching as Kiku gently stepped through, giving a soft smile in thanks, Arthur gave a wink back, turning around with a smug expression before his jaw flew open, the rain was heavier than before! Hail stones and rain pelted down, lacerating through the air. the pair slowly look at each other, before looking back at the rain… they were both silent for a while before Arthur started to shrug off his olive green jacket, Kiku looked over in confusion “what are you doing? Your gonna get soaked even more if you take that off!” Kiku gently took Arthur’s arm as he spoke, giving the Englishman goosebumps, his breath catching quietly under the sound of the aggressive rain. Arthur continued to remove his jacket, showing the other what he was doing. “We could use it as a cover from the rain” Arthur held the coat over the top his head, his arms holding it up like a canopy to shelter them from the down pour. “We could quickly get to the underground like this?” He asked slightly awkwardly, worried that Kiku would think his idea was stupid or something, though the Japanese man just responded with a gentle smile “hmmm are you sure about this? Your gonna look like a drowned rat by the time we get on the train!” He chuckled softly, making Arthur pull a smile. “It’ll be fine, let’s just get going!” Arthur replied. The Japanese man without warning put his arm around Arthur’s waist, pulling himself underneath their makeshift shelter, making England jump out of his skin before going beet red, he quickly turned his face to hide the red dusting over his face. Stepping out into the rain, the duo started to walk under their “shelter”. Arthur immediately started to shiver at the cold water running down his back, all the while feeling the blood rush to his cheeks when Kiku pulled closer. They both hurried to get out of the storm, accidentally splashing each other as they speed walked through puddles, making the other laugh. Arthur chuckled softly after getting splashed with a puddle, though his shoes weren’t as ecstatic, now full of water, he could feel his socks sticking to his feet and arms aching from holding up the coat which just made trying to get out of the rain even worse. Japan noticed, turning his head he looked up at England, giving a shiver he tentatively walked a little closer, their sides touching. The warmth of Kiku’s side made the heat travel up his body like a fire in a wooden house, making him not be able to help but smile to himself, enjoying the close contact even though he knew it didn’t mean anything coming from Kiku. it gave Arthur a minuscule amount of hope that Kiku felt the same way he did, which made his heart pump faster than ever before. After a couple of minutes dashing through the rain like lunatics they made it the underground station, it was late so not many people were on the train, allowing the pair to be able to sit for the ride. They sat together in silence, occasionally glancing at each other. The other people on the train seemed just as tired as the pair did, Arthur noticed a person starting to nod off, which made him smile slightly. After 20 minutes of riding the train together they both got off, not that the rain had stopped, Arthur carried his damp coat under his arm, as they both walked in unison out of the train station and to Kiku’s home, their shoulders brushed together as they walked, finally making it back home to rest after a long day of travelling.
