Sheer black curtains hung down over the canopy bed, keeping it somewhat enclosed, making it feel mysterious and almost royal. It made whoever laid there feel like a princess, a princess who could lay there as long as they wanted and they'd be cared for even as they napped the day away. Even if it wasn’t exactly so, it would still make the fantasy appear in one's head.
Shifting lazily in the bed and stirring awake as a gentle hand caressed the mortician’s cheek, Mortis batted his eyelashes as he opened his lethargic eyes, watching the figure that soothingly caressed him awake. The vampire stretched his arms out to the side before gently resting a hand onto Byron’s own, his eyes still hazy as he adjusted to the light. The vampire let out a soft whine as he fought his own heavy eyelids, at any moment it felt like he’d fall back into the loving and warm embrace of sleep.
“Are you aware of the time, dearest?” The snake oil salesman cooed, combing back his partner’s purple hair as he watched him lie in bed, lazily making slow and sluggish movements. Mortis pulled a thin crimson red blanket back over himself as he scooted away slowly from Byron, pathetic little whines came from the vampire as Byron held onto the blanket and tugged at it, disrupting Mortis from falling back asleep. Every tiny grumble and whine was nothing short of endearing, it captivated him and made him smile as he persisted in his pursuit to wake Mortis. Sitting on the edge of the bed, Byron reached out and grabbed Mortis by the hips, pinching them and circling his thumbs into them. The response from Mortis was a mix of sluggish squirms and sleepy giggling, he let out little squeaks between his laughter and his legs almost started to kick underneath Byron. The vampire grinned and his fangs caught the light that peeked through the window as he tried to twist and turn to no avail, he just giggled pathetically as the tickling continued to attack his hips.
“Mooorrrtimmeerrrr” Byron purred the beloved nicholas name for his darling Mortis as long as he could, finishing it right before he decided to slide his hands under the crimson red blanket and scratch and tease at Mortis' waist, which in turn, caused the vampire to actually kick his legs and shriek at first. It made Byron chuckle.
“No! Nohoho! Y-You're evil!” The poor grave digger couldn’t wiggle away, Byron leaned over him and had a tight grip on his waist, making it tickle all the more as the dastardly attacks continued, the salesman's fingers still dancing on Mortis’ waist. His futile squirms and little leg kicks made Byron almost enchanted by his silly and strange husband who always managed to charm him one way or another, Be it his darling laugh or his pathetic squirming. Even if it was incredibly unintentional at times….
Pulling his hands away from Mortis' waist, he watched the vampire giggle and chortle softly as he held his sides, Byron let out a soft hum.
“You think that was evil?” The snake oil salesman almost scoffed, he then watched Mortis sit up, still holding his own waist and attempting to calm himself as he snickered.
“Yes! Utterly so!” The mortician giggled as Byron quirked an eyebrow at him, Mortis fell on his back and rested against the bed, giggling all the while as he thought about the tickle attack and Byron’s expression. All Byron wanted was to stay with Mortis all day, but he knew he couldn't, both of them had things to do. He knew Mortis had to make a brief stop by the graveyard to ensure the plants didn't require further care, and if they did he'd prune, pluck weeds, water, and care for them as much as he could. And Byron wanted to drop by his shop for a bit of simple cleaning to ensure his shop was in tip-top condition (even if he had the day off.)
But for just now, he would continue to coax Mortis out of bed and convince him to stay awake through the sweetest means possible. Which did include tickling and pinching Mortis’ sides.
Just as Mortis was about to slither back under the blankets and drift off to his dreams of warmth and comfort, he watched as the blankets were pulled away from him once more and felt Byron’s fingers prickling into his sides as he was flipped over into his back by the salesman.
“Oh for the love of-” Mortis was quickly cut off by his own giggling and he felt kisses rapidly pressed against his stomach. There wasn't much he could do this time either, he just giggled, delightedly so, as the kisses soon drew up to his ribs.
“H-Ha-have mercy on me-ehe, my darling!” The vampire finally managed to say before once again being consumed by his own giggles. After some more squirming and ceaseless tickling accompanied by laughter, Mortis felt Byron’s fingers trail away from his sides and looked down at his sides to see Byron’s hands resting, pressed against the bed.
“I believe that should be enough to keep you awake, hm?”
Cooing over Mortis as he smiled, Byron leaned in and nestled his face against Mortis’, still smiling as he watched Mortis’ own face turn into a petty pout.
In Mortis’ lack of response, Byron rubbed one of his hands against the vampire's stomach and watched him tense up under him as a panicked smile quickly appeared.
“Fine! Fine! You and your charms have convinced me..”
Mortis said as he managed to push Byron off of him and get up, walking towards the closet to get himself properly dressed.
“I’ll see you this afternoon, darling.”
The snake oil salesman chuckled out as he straightened himself out and made his way to the door of the room, coming to a surprised stop as he heard quick footsteps behind him and felt a pair of arms around his waist, holding him.
Turning his head over his shoulder he looked at Mortis as he felt his own cheeks redden a little.
“Not so fast.”
Mortis smiled and the tips of his fingers pressed into Byron's waist.
“I haven't even gotten to have my turn yet!”
