Chapter Text
It’s another day at my new job. It’s supposed to be just another day. Well, security has been hired for a reason, right?
The shut down God AI in Finland still required security. The equipment in its building, similar to omniums, was still worth its weight in all the world’s most valuable metals. As such, it shouldn’t be a surprise when a raid has been launched against it.
They breached multiple points, and they wielded their gunfire and explosives indiscriminately. The end goal was unclear — what was clear was my squad getting cornered in the middle of the first floor.
The enemy had too much firepower, and we were running frighteningly low. One by one, I watched my squad fall. I should’ve known that hiding was no use. What could I have done from there, as I watched a grenade land and roll to the ground right next to me?
An explosion, ringing, the floor collapsing, a maw into the cordoned off basement areas opening wide. I didn’t even know how much of me was left as I fell into darkness. All I could think of was saying sorry to my family back home.
