Work Text:
It was the end of May, and it was nearing Graduation season. Most students said that the end of the year wouldn't come that fast, that they'd have more time with their friends. But within a blink of an eye, the final day of school came. Most students were just crying. But there were a few (a lot) full on sobbing.
Take the Diasomnia boys for example, Sebek and Silver were both in heavy sobs while Lilia and Malleus were both teary eyed as well. "Oh my boys, stay strong while we're gone okay?" Lilia said to the younger boys.
Sebek tried his best to hold back his tears, while Silver was more open about his sobs. "You will do well to bring honor to Diasomnia house, it has been an honor to be your liege."
Silver gave a bow, "And it was an honor to serve you, Malleus-sama..." Sebek followed in suit.
"Thank you for– f-for allowing me to serve you M-My liege..."
Both boys kept their distance from their housewarden but was proven useless when their father pulled them into a hug together. Quickly, all pretense of keeping space was dissolved as the three men held each other and sobbed.
Lilia sobbed the hardest, because he knew his boys were growing up. And one day he'd see them succeed. From this life or the next.
Meanwhile in Ignihyde, two housewardens and a cyborg sat in the nearly empty common room. Ignihyde was a more introverted dorm, so most of their students were on a call to say goodbye to their limited friends. However, one of the most introverted students, their own dorm leader, Idia Shroud was out in the open with his brother and the Octavinelle leader.
Ortho was very much upset and sad yet he wasn't crying. Meanwhile, Azul was more reserved physically, his glasses were fogged. Idia looked a little awkward but he eyes were steamy. "Thanks for being a good club member, Azul... you weren't as much as a normie as everyone else." The boy mumbled and the shorter boy adjusted his glasses.
"Thank you, Idia. It was a very pleasant experience being your underclassman." Azul said, and extended his hand out for a handshake. Except Idia had also put his hand out for a high five and the two did a bit of an awkward dance with their hands. Then, luckily, Ortho had decided to then their misery and pulled them both into a group hug.
"Thanks for being my friend, Azul..." Idia whispered into the silver haired boy's shoulder.
"You as well Idia..."
When they both pulled back they both had tear streaked faces. "Ah... look at that..." Azul said.
Shortly after Azul had left, the two brothers were alone. Ortho had pulled Idia into another hug, Idia was crying again and Ortho was getting emotional, yet no tears came out.
"Are you sure you'll be fine wihout me, big brother?" The robot said into Idia's chest.
"Yeah... I'll be good Ortho.. you were a big help. You're a real SSR pull of a brother..." Idia had choked out. The two stayed like that for a while, in bubble of comfort and emotions.
Over in the Pomefiore dorm, the housewarden and vice housewarden were both sitting in the common room. They were just spending their last time together at their school. Both were emotional and had tears down their face.
They both had stayed in a peaceful, until a certain first year had burst into their space.
"NOW YOU LISTEN HERE–" Epel had come in hot and both of the third years prepared for an argument and got defensive. But then they saw this face...
Teary eyed and red faced.
"D-Don't you forget about me..." His voice was thick with his accent and sadness. For once Vil, didn't scold him, he simply pulled him into a hug and put him between them.
"Don't be silly, Epel... with how much you inconvenienced me this year, I could never forget you." Vil said half jokingly.
"Monsieur Pommette, you have grown so much this year. You have blossomed into the most delicious and red apple!" Rook cooed at the boy.
All three of them spent their time sitting together, crying together.
In the Pop Music Club, Lilia and Cater were talking and reminiscing about the past three years. Laughing about some dumb things that had happened in freshman and sophomore year. But then Kalim came in, he had his drum sticks clutching with a vice grip. He had a frown on his face, a rare sight.
"Hey Lilia... Hey Cater." Kalim said with a sad tone. "It's kinda sad to think this is our last time playing together..."
"Cmon Kalim! Don't be sad! We gotta rock for the last time!" Cater said already pulling the younger boy into a hug. "Cater is right, Kalim. We mustn't think of the bad of this day, only the part that we have the privilege to play together," Lilia agreed and joined the hug.
When they parted, they proceeded to play their favorite song they had ever played together. The song had ended and they sat in silence.
"Remember last year when we did our first performance all of us? And I got so nervous I almost cried?" Kalim said, "I don't know if I'll be able to play without you guys..."
"Don't think like that dear Kalim. You'll be able to do wonderful things on stage. And even if we aren't up there with you, we will always be in the audience for you." Lilia spoke in a comforting tone as he placed a hand on the second year's shoulder.
"What Lils said! And we'll cheer the loudest every time!" Cater said cheerfully and put a arm around the two. "Let's get a photo for Magicam! Say Music Club!"
"Music Club!"
"Music Club!"
Within the Heartslabyul dorm, Riddle Rosehearts was crying with tears that shone like rivers down his face. His was his in the arms of his vice housewarden's arms. Trey's glasses were fogged too, and he was trying his best to comfort the short boy.
"It's okay Riddle... I'll be back in the Queendom of Roses and I won't be too far away..." Trey murmured. Riddle cried a little harder at the comforting words.
"Trey... I thought we had more time..." Riddle choked out the words through sobs. "I lost so much time back then... I thought I would've been better about making the most of my time with you all..."
Trey was about to say something else when another pair of arms wrapped around the housewarden. "Cmon Ridds... don't get me all #emotional!" Cater said with a mix of an upbeat and sad tone.
"I'll miss you all so much..."
"We'll miss you too, Riddle... but you're always welcome to come visit." Trey whispered again, the tears leaving his face more freely.
Just then, a tall figure with teal hair and heterochromatic eyes walked in. "Yes, it's so sad to see our third years leaving again, isn't it?"
"Jade? What are you doing here?" Trey asked, with a tilt of his head. Jade simply walked closer to the tallest of the three.
"Why I came by the say goodbye to you of course! We have grown close over the past year, haven't we Trey?" The eel answered with pure calmness. It was sort of eerie how you couldn't tell if he was sad or not.
While the two chefs spoke together, Riddle had been let go. Within seconds, Cater had already been pulled into a hug by the redhead, sobbing lightly into his chest. "Riddleeee! It's so rare to see you cry! It's honestly kinda cammable–"
"If you take a photo of me for Magicam, I will behead you one last time."
Cater immediately put his phone back into his pocket with a awkward chuckle. "Speaking of Magicam," Riddle started, "as a bit of a parting gift, if you will, I have decided to indulge the whims you have been pestering me about for the past two years."
"You mean–?"
"Yes, I will make a Magicam account." Riddle finished his sentence, but followed it up with, "but just know, I'm also making it to keep in touch with everyone over the summer."
Cater squealed with excitement as Riddle pulled out his phone. Together they worked on setting him up with an account; '@Rosiehearts'. Cater had come up with the username obviously, Riddle just wanted to use his name. But as Cater put it;
"Uh Ridds, that's so not cam worthy!"
Towards the day's finale, Azul sat with the Leech twins in the Mostro Lounge. Azul had started to think, they'd spent practically their whole lives together... would the twins still want him around after graduation?
"Jade? Floyd?" Azul said as he cleared his throat.
"Yes, Azul?"
"Whaddya want?"
Azul rolled his eyes at the ladder of the comments but continued anyways. "Do you think we'll still be together after graduation? As a group I mean?"
Floyd scoffed and moved to sit next to him. "Pfft what kind of stupid question is that? 'Course we'll still hang out." Floyd threw an arm around the octopus and Jade followed his brother to sit on the opposite side of Azul.
"Yes, quite silly of you to think that, Azul. After all, you're our best friend. We wouldn't leave you behind. Well... unless you got boring." Jade shrugged and said his words so deadpan. A hint of doubt and sadness flooded Azul's chest. "But we both know that'll never happen." Floyd finished his brother's words and Jade chuckled in amusement.
"Correct Floyd..."
The three of them ended their night quietly and contentedly. The end of the school year finally came. The freshman were now sophomores, the sophomores were now juniors, and the juniors were heading out to start their internships. It would never be the same school year again. But everyone had ended up happy. Well, everyone except Yuu, of course.
They were still in their dorm. Wishing to go home. Knowing a whole year had passed since they left. Waiting for the day they could finally see their family again.
