The Moon had never been brighter.

Senku Ishigami.
A 5 year old kid and an ambitious achiever in the world, who always saw the light of science.
Byakuya Ishigami
The father of the child who dreamt of the ways science was made and used
every second.
The date was January 1st 2014, the fireworks had just been set and were dancing in the air showing all their magnificent glory in the night sky. Below that same sky were the Ishigamis.
“Ugh why in the heck do you keep following me, moon!” -s
Byakuya who had just been admiring the sky lights turned to see his son looking up except trying to run away from something.
“The moon just got a big old crush on you that's why!” -b
“Aye, I don’t need that crap right now old man.” -s
“I’m talking about serious science” -s
What kind of preschooler are you? - Byakuya thought as a somewhat curious tease
“The real reason why the moon looks like it is following you is because it's super-duper far away.” -b
“It's especially far away from me since I failed the astronaut exam!” - Byakuya said as a soft joke as he cried silently.
“I don’t care about your wistful poetry right now, old man.” - s
“I messed up prettyyy baaaad on that swimming exam” - b
“How long until the next astronaut tryouts” -s
“Not until another decade or so.” -b
“One day I will go to space, as soon as possible.” -s

The date was now 2026, June 7th at midnight.
It was raining relentlessly outside, not that any one in particular noticed since most people were already in their homes all cuddled up with their loved ones. Summer was a time for a break for most people his age. Senku saw his classmates right before they left for summer break. He saw them plan their hangouts, vacations, jobs, etcetera.
Taiju and Yuzuriha were one of them.
They wanted to have a nice getaway for just the two of them since they had just officially started dating just the week before after years and years of yearning for the other.
Not that Senku wasn’t happy for them, he was very happy for the two of them. But seeing them two finally together made him feel almost bittersweet for a reason he couldn’t name. Or maybe he just didn’t want to name it.
Taiju and Yuzuriha said their goodbyes already and were sure to return by the end of the month. They wanted to visit the United States together to meet up with some friends of theirs while also touring there. At least that's what they told him but he was 10 billion percent sure it was specifically made for the new lillian weinberg concert show happening there.
Yuzuriha was more cautious of leaving Senku alone than anyone, after hearing the news about his late father Byakuya, senku started to fall rapidly into a rabbit hole he barely knew how to escape. Senku was just barely able to convince her to go without too much worry as his current state had progressively started to grow for the better. Senku made sure of that. He hated the fact that he could be barging into his two most closest friend’s well deserved time together. He made sure to let only the good side show and hide all the mistakes he had already made.
What Yuzuriah and no one else knew was that Senku was already in a huge debt to loads of people. And with every new day passing it only seems to grow larger. He blew up most of his funds experimenting non-stop for weeks with each experiment failing which caused him to try again and again and again. Without his father in his life, he felt empty. He had no one to come and flush him with loads of support and love like how his father did. Byakuya was gone now and he had to accept it but in his heart he just couldn’t accept this new reality of his. So he focused on the one thing he thought could never fail him. SCIENCE!
Unfortunately science did evidently fail him as he soon noticed when the banks and people were starting to demand back their money.
I really fucked up big time old man, could barley sustain myself not even a year without you. - Senku thought to himself.
Here he was, all alone in the middle of the night with a home which only brought back painful memories that he once considered warm and happy.
With nowhere left to go he decided to take a walk while getting lost in thought.
He knew the mob sharks would come back to collect their money one way or another. In total he owed 10.3 million to everyone who ever loaned him money for his projects. He had already used up his own money and refused to touch his father’s inheritance money for his own sick shit he got himself in. But even with the inheritance money he would still owe over 7 million he didn’t have. Who knew science equipment could be so expensive, oh wait he did.
Senku just didn't have any idea how he could repay such an enormous amount before they came knocking in his window, he thought about trying to experiment some more and sell what he made but that would only wind up backfiring since almost all his experiments have been constantly failing. It was like he had lost his spark, his flame for science. Sure the passion was there but it was broken and without all the pieces, the experiments wouldn't work right.
“Excuse me sir, would you lend a minute of your time?” - said an unknown voice behind.
Immediately he jumped to see who was behind him, what he did expect was someone looking to collect money but what he was not expecting was someone with a tall and slight figure with a neatly ironed black tux complete with the black tie and pants.
He was holding some sort of black case.
“ I’ll ask again sir, would you lend me a minute of your time?”
“Aren’t you a little late to be selling whatever business tactics you got there”- asked Senku with a bit of a rude bit.
“I have a great opportunity for you.” - the man said as he was opening his case
“Ughhh Look I don't want to take part of what ever bullshi–”
“Would you care to play a game with me?” - the man quickly interrupted, showing Senku his case.
Inside was a game of ddakji with hundred bills next to it.
“Play ddakji with me. Each time you win, I will give you a hundred, however if I win you will pay the same.”
“ I’ll even let you play first.” - the man stated.
Senku stood there processing what he had just heard was correct, a hundred for a game he could easily win but what was the catch?
If he lost he would owe more money that he didn’t have but if he won then he would have enough to at least buy food for the whole week instead of starving himself for the next opportunity to come. Seeing his choices he opted for the latter.
“I’ll play your childish game but I gotta go first.” - Senku stated.
“Fine with me” - said the man as he laid out the game before him.
“Which color?”
