Scott glared at the customer, before pushing the button. Carter let out a sigh of relief, dropping the fake smile. “Thank you, he was-”
“I don’t have money, but I do have a knife.”
Carter stopped talking. Scott stopped breathing in general.
“Please tell me you heard that…?” Carter whispered, getting off his stool. Scott nodded, crossing the kiosk to rummage through the crossbody bag he had brought that day. From out of it he pulled pepper spray. Carter grabbed the butcher knife they had been using to cut the meat.
Both men jumped as they heard the back door open.
“Hey..”
Carter backed into the counter on the other side of the kiosk, holding out the knife. Scott stepped in front of Carter, holding up his pepper spray. “BACK OFF!!” He yelled, finger on the top of the spray thing.
The man only stalked closer, holding something in his right hand. The window was still closed, and if there was a customer out there that could help them, they wouldn’t know.
“You’re feisty.. I like that…”
“I TOLD YOU TO BACK OFF!!” Scott screamed, threatening to press the spray. Carter pointed the knife forward with shaky hands, heart pounding in his ears.
“Why should I? You’re ho-”
BANG!!!!
Both men flinched again, Scott’s hand finding Carter’s. Carter squeezed his hand, the both of them preparing for the blow.
But it didn’t come.
Instead, when they looked up, the man was lying on the ground, unconscious as a bit of blood trickled down onto the floor. Someone was standing behind him, someone wearing all black and holding the fire extinguisher.
Asher.
“ASHER!!” Scott yelled, running over and hugging the taller man. Carter set the knife down, running over as well and giving him a hug as well. Neither had realized that either had started crying. Asher just hugged the both of them.
Scott buried his head into Asher’s chest, wrapping his arms around the taller man’s shoulders as he cried softly. Scott buried his face into Asher shoulder, full sobs wracking through his body. Asher just hooked an arm around each of their waists, gently cooing to them.
This was the kindest either of them had seen Asher.
“Asher-?” Scott mumbled, looking up at the taller man. He hummed in response, holding both men just a tad tighter. “Yeah?”
“How did you know where we were..?”
Asher was silent for a moment, before shaking his head. “I didn’t. I came here because neither of you were answering your phone.”
Scott nodded, burying his face back into Asher’s chest. He could feel the taller man place his chin on his head, and he relaxed slightly.
Sure, Carter wasn’t doing as well. Full sobs shook his whole form as Asher held the two of them. Scott untucked one of his hands from around Asher, instead pulling Carter closer to him as well.
Everything would be alright…
Surely…
