AITA? My sensei wants me to open up to my team to facilitate ‘bonding’ but I’m just not interested
I'll get straight to the point. I recently graduated from the academy in my village and was assigned to a genin team. Despite being top of the class, I somehow was grouped with two of the biggest losers in the class. One of them is obsessed with me, which is incredibly off-putting, and the other barely passed the Graduation Exam. Whatever, not my concern. Their ineptitude shouldn't affect my progress.
The issue arose when our new sensei (who arrived to our meeting LATE, like a degenerate) asked us all to share a little about ourselves. While my teammates blathered on inanely, I kept my answer succinct. While I have plenty of things that I hate, but I don't particularly like anything. Thus, I was unable to share my "interests." I have a single dream, if you can call it that, which I did share with my teammates. I found this to be more than sufficient; it is more than I've ever shared with anyone alive. However, my sensei did not agree.
He seemed to think we need to work on our teamwork, and has assigned us survivalist training starting tomorrow morning. I find this extremely hypocritical, as he did not share anything about himself with us. I understand this is in the name of teamwork, but to me it seems unnecessary. Why should I be forced to collaborate with teammates who are so far below my skill level? I fail to see how this will help me improve, especially if our training is geared towards the lowest common denominator. I would like to add that it is crucial that I improve as quickly as possible for my personal mission, the importance of which is lost on my plebian compatriots.
So, AITA for not wanting to bond with my team? I just feel like there are better uses of my time.
Verdict: YTA

YTA. Just because someone doesn't graduate top of their class, that doesn't mean theyre a bad ninja. They can be just as strong as you, even if they're not good at school. You should give your teammates a chance!
dark_avenger
If my teammates had any skills, I would have seen them when we sparred. You sound like a loser.
FutureHokage_BelieveIt!
Well you SMELL like a loser.
dark_avenger
You can't smell me over this platform. Your insult is baseless and thus meaningless. Idiot.
FutureHokage_BelieveIt!
Whatever, you just think you're soooo much better than everyone else. I know a guy like you in my village and he's a jerk. Bet everyone in your village thinks you're a jerk too, jerk
dark_avenger
I don't care what people think of me
FutureHokage_BelieveIt!
You cared enough to write this post
FutureHokage_BelieveIt!
Nothing to say, huh? What are you a coward?
FutureHokage_BelieveIt!
Come fight me coward!
dark_avenger
Get out of my DMs, I don't want to fight someone as annoying as you. I get enough of that from my team already, thanks
FutureHokage_BelieveIt!
That means I win :p

NAH. True skill comes from rigorous training, not innate skill. With enough practice, anyone can be a splendid shinobi! Perhaps you should challenge your teammates to improve? With the power of youth on your side, anything is possible!

Now THIS GUY knows YOUTH! I like your attitude kid, you're gonna go far!
dark_avenger
it's not my job to help them improve. I have my own goals, which neither of them could possibly understand. Slowing down for them would only hold me back.

You clearly have a lot to learn, young shinobi! Training with others is always beneficial, regardless of skill level. Simply increase your personal challenge! For every push-up they do, challenge yourself to do 100. For every lap around the training ground, do 200 laps on your hands! You'll be stronger than an ox in no time, trust me *thumbs up*
dark_avenger
…… I'm not sure it's always so simple, but I'll keep this in mind
HandsomeDevil_!!!
I do not know who you are kind stranger, but you have inspired me! I will do 2000 pushups right now to celebrate this bold encouragement of youthful power!

YTA. Those who abandon their friends are worse than scum. In the field, a ninja who cannot work well with others is a liability regardless of their individual skill. Sounds like you have a lot to learn. You should listen to your sensei, he sounds wise and very attractive.
dark_avenger
attractive? I do not understand
Reddit_is_a_drag
YTA to yourself. Stop setting such high standards, it only gives people the opportunity to expect more from you. Have you considered not caring so much about this?
dark_avenger
You've clearly never lost anything important to you. Don't comment on my mindset until you've suffered as much as I have.
Reddit_is_a_drag
You sound like a drag, glad you're not on my team.

NTA I like your ambition, young shinobi. Keep in mind, not all paths to power are linear. Sometimes the crooked path lead to the most succulent fruit. Have you considered body modification?
dark_avenger
no? wtf
dark_avenger
should I?
