Work Text:
I swear to God, I almost drowned
I coughed as I jolted awake. Damnit why did that man save me from the water, ugh. If he hadn’t done that, I would have been back to the future.
Even so, did I truly go back in time? No, no, no. That’s too unrealistic.
But it’s happening to you, Nakhun!
“Master Klao, art thou well now, khorap?” I jolted in shock as one of them asked me, sitting on the floor while doing a wai.
“Ha?”
“Hath thou recovered thy senses, khorap?”
“No, no I’m fine. Just, bewildered.” He said unto the man before him with a confused face. “I “I am well.” He added awkwardly for the man to understand him better.
“Ah, what’s your name again?” He asked with an awkward smile.
“Master Klao! Even me, thou dost not recall? Hast thou truly lost thy wits, khorap?”
“Hehe,” Khun answered as a reply, still with that awkward smile plastered onto his face.
“I am Chuay, khorap.”
“Okay, Chuay. Can you, uhm. Help me get out of here?”
“It lies not in my power, khorap. We were forbidden to let thee out of ye manor.”
“Aou, Chuay. Just this once!?”
“Forgive me, khorap. We truly were forbidden.”
“You call me master, why not do what I say?”
“Ye order was given by ye Lord, far higher in position than thou, khorap.”
“Arghhh.”
I laid back down in my bed, defeated. How am I to know what truly happened if I’m locked in this damn room? So annoying. And who was this Klao? Why were they calling me Klao? How did I get here?
What is happening with my life??
Then the door opened and came that man from before.
“How art thou, Klao? Hast thou been resting well?” He asked as he sat in the corner of the bed looking at Khun. Or Klao? Who am I?
You asked me how I've been,
“I’m fine, thank you, and you?”
“Ha?” The gentleman asked with pure wonder in his face.
“I am doing well, I’ve rested when you were gone,” Khun said as he looked at the gentleman indirectly asking for his name.
It seems he didn’t understand what I meant.
“What’s your name? I forgot, sorry.”
“Thou hast forgotten me, Klao.” He answered as his gaze dropped.
“I don’t remember anything at all, if that makes you feel better.”
“I shan’t be at ease when thou art still unwell.” He said his gaze back at me. “I am Phop. Thou hast been mine’s friend since we were mere babes.”
“Ahh.” Khun mumbled nodding to Phop’s words.
“May I ask about the events when thou hast gone missing?”
but how could I begin?
“Oh that..” I mumbled looking for words to describe events I didn’t even know.
I wasn’t even Klao.
“If thou dost not feel comfortable in telling me at this moment, they can tell me another time.”
“Hmm.” I answered to break the awkward silence that filled the room.
“I must tend to mine’s work now. Pray, rest well, Klao.”
“Mmm. But, can I get out at least?”
“Do so, but pray, don’t cause chaos.”
“Hmm.”
—
I get out of my room here and there but I can’t help but wonder, how did I get here? Who was Klao? How am I tied to him in any way?
Is he connected to the dream I had earlier?
Ugh, so frustrating.
“Klao!” Someone called out. Khun went out of his room and saw Thi next to Phop.
“Thi!!! Ai you sutt! This is all a prank of yours, is it not? What kind of friend are you? You know I almost drowned, right? What? Speak? I’ll tell this to Pun, if you dare.” I rambled out
of relief but also hatred for this dear friend of mine. He was also dressed like how they dressed me. Totally committed to the role, hmm?
“Klao!”
“Ai Thi! No need to act. I’m not convinced, now bring me back to my house. I miss my mom.”
“It seems the news truly is true. Thou hast truly lost thy wits.”
“Ai Thi!? I’m not falling for this!!”
“Klao,” Phop started, “Ye physician’s name is Jom. He too has been thine’s friend since young. And thee’s mother has died long ago.” He said slowly as if I have forgotten a crucial part of my life.
Goddamnit, I’m not even Klao!
“Ai shia Thi! Stop this already, I’m not joking! Why? You wanna tease me for getting a low score on history? Then do so, you didn’t have to do all this man!”
“Klao-”
“I am not Klao!! I am Nakhun! And you Thi, you sutt, know that damn well!! We’ve been friends for so long and you do this to me?”
“Thee, my friend has gone berserk. Pray, drink this medicine. Thou shall feel better.”
“You think I’m gonna drink what you give me? You sutt.”
“Klao. Do as ye physician tells thee.”
“Physician? You don’t even know basic medical stuff, Thi!!”
“Just drink thine’s medicine, Klao. Pray, don’t cause trouble.”
