A blue day, some onigiri, a cheesy rom com, and a boyfriend

Summary:

Osamu started crying again, this time in his boyfriend’s arms. It felt safe, he thought, as suna ran a hand through his hair, whispering things that Osamu couldn’t quite take in, but his boyfriend’s comforting voice was always nice.

Notes:

Guess what? Graduation ceremonies are hella boring and you can write a fic through it.

Also, I’m sorry if i got anything wrong about depression, let me know in the comments if there is.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

When he first woke up, he knew it was going to be a blue day. It was hard to speak, hard to turn his head, hard to do everything.
Even volleyball seemed unappealing. His brain was foggy, it was hard to focus. He knew better than to go to school, the last time he did that ended up being a disaster. He hated these days.

“Osamu?” He heard the warm voice of his mother, but decided not to answer.

“Is it a blue day?” He nodded into his pillow. “Oh dear. I can’t stay with you today, the office wants me there. I’ll tell your teachers though, Atsumu can bring your work back.”

Osamu wondered if he could beg her to stay. He decided against it, since he knew how important his mother’s job is. “I’m sorry honey. I’ll be home as soon as I can.”

Osamu heard the bedroom door close, signaling he was alone. His brother probably left for school already, but he didn’t have energy to check the clock on the wall. He felt pathetic, he couldn’t do the tiniest things on some days, he didn’t even have the energy to get out of bed. ‘tsumu really is the better twin, huh?

Without noticing, he started crying into his pillow, eventually turning into sobs wracking his body. He didn’t hear the front door open, didn’t see his bedroom door slip open, a figure sliding into the room.

As two strong, familiar arms wrapped around him, osamu stopped for a moment, shocked. A voice, a soothing voice he’d longed to hear, spoke. “You can cry, you know.” He turned around, looking into the hazel eyes of Suna Rintarō. His boyfriend. His boyfriend was here, with him.
He wasn’t wearing his usual smirk, instead a crooked smile he only had when it was genuine took its place. Osamu buried his face into his chest, breathing in his scent. Suna always smelt good, like his coffee he drank every morning.

Osamu started crying again, this time in his boyfriend’s arms. It felt safe, he thought, as suna ran a hand through his hair, whispering things that Osamu couldn’t quite take in, but his boyfriend’s comforting voice was always nice.

After a while, he calmed down, sobs turning into small hiccups here and there. “Rin.” Osamu said, without moving from his spot.

“Hey, princess. Feel better?” Suna asked, tilting osamu’s head up to look at him.

After a tiny nod, he laughed and pressed a kiss on his forehead. “That’s good. Wanna get up and eat some onigiri?”

Normally, the sound of his favorite food would have lit up osamu’s eyes. But this wasn’t, unfortunately, a normal day.

“C’mon princess, you have to eat something. I bet you didn’t eat anything for breakfast.” Osamu considered for a moment, nodding his head later. “Alright, to the kitchen then.”

Getting up himself, he pulled osamu up on his feet. He swayed for a bit, before suna steadied him. “Woah there. Easy.” He murmured, voice soft. Osamu felt the urge to cry for the millionth time that day, as his boyfriend put his arms around him, lifting him up. “Gosh! Rin!” Suna ignored him. He carried him all the way to the couch, depositing him there.

“Wait.” Was all he told him, before disappearing into the kitchen. Osamu sat there, confused. After a few minutes, suna walked in with a plate of onigiri. It wasn’t bad onigiri, per se, but osamu simply didn’t have the appetite. After three bites, he pushed the plate away, unable to continue. “Finished?” A nod. “Good. Wanna watch a cheesy rom-com?” Another nod. “Sure. I’ll clean this up then.” A little whine came from the couch. All thoughts of dishes were now ignored.

Suna snuggled up beside his boyfriend, a movie thrown up on his laptop. “Hey, rin?” “Yeah?” “Who told you it was a blue day today?” “Your brother. He said your mom texted him. He wanted to come himself, but the idiot failed a test two days ago.” “Ah.” A hum of confirmation. ”Didn’t you have a test today?” Suna snorted. “Do you think I care about a stupid test which has nothing but bullshit on it?” That got a laugh from osamu. It was a tiny one, barely audible, but a laugh nonetheless. “Thanks for coming. You didn’t have to.” “I wanted to.”

It was quiet for a while, the only sound being the voices of the actors in the movie. “Thank you.” “It’s nothing, really.” “I love you, rin.” Suna was a bit surprised, they both didn’t say it that often, preferring showcases of love with actions.

“I love you too. So, so much.” Suna himself was just as surprised as osamu looked, though he snapped out of it fast. “Now why don’t you go to sleep. I’m not going anywhere anyway.” Osamu nodded, tuning out the sounds from the laptop.

Before slipping out of consciousness, he heard rin, his rin, whisper in his ear: ”In case you didn’t know, i meant every single word.” He slept, then, with a small smile on his face, cuddled up by his boyfriend.

Atsumu walked in his house, coming back from school. His teacher was being a bitch today,(as if she wasn’t already), it wasn’t really his fault that the periodic table was so messed up. He walked in the living room, only to see his twin brother cuddled up to his friend. He didn’t want to disturb them, so decided to go to his room and text sakusa, making a mental note to tease his brother because “rom-coms? Seriously?”
