Chapter Text

Taehyung spent most of his life in his hometown, Daegu. He has always been passionate for art in general, but especially in fine art. His free time is dedicated to painting and drawing. He was determined to enter an art high school, but the ones in his town were specialized in dancing and acting. His parents did their best to earn and save enough money for their son to live in Seoul. Financially, he wasn’t poor, but he also wasn’t rich.

He had enough. Taehyung is very grateful to his parents, but as a fellow capricorn, he never knew how to show it. His way to send the support back to his parents is to work hard for them.

As the university staff said, his room was the 605. And his roommate moved a long time ago. The staff said he didn’t share his room with anyone. Regardless, he opened the door, but an empty place welcomed him. The room was averagely great.

It wasn’t very spacious, but enough for two people, even though there were two bunk beds, one on the left and the other one on the right. Taehyung was confused : « Why are there four beds ? This place can not fit 4 people there ».

Leaving that thought behind, he chose the left bunk bed since there wasn’t any stuff there. Actually, there wasn’t stuff at all in the room. It looked very empty. But Taehyung could sense that someone lived there. He opened his suitcases, and decorated his personal space :

He wanted it to feel like home. He didn’t unpack everything though, because he didn’t want to spread his stuff everywhere and make a mess.

Suddenly, the door opened brutally. Taehyung, startled from the sudden loud noise, looked at the newcomer which he presumed was his roommate. The guy analysed the room, then looked at Taehyung. At the view of a new person in his room, he furrowed his eyebrows, as if he was pissed off. He connected the dots though, since he was informed by the staff of the university.

“This is my bunk bed. Remove your shit out of here,”. Jungkook said strictly while heading straight to the kitchen to wash his hands. Meanwhile, Taehyung was taken by surprise.

He was very embarrassed, and mumbled a few excuses : “o-oh I’m very sorry! I’ll remove them right now. I-I am Taehyung by the way, y-your new roommate,” He pronounced the last sentence more shyly, since he knew his roommate was mad.

“Jungkook,” was the answer he earned from the other. Taehyung nodded his head, and quickly removed the decorations and personal objects he put previously near the bed, and sadly went toward his bunk bed.

His first day didn’t start great at all: his roommate was a meanie, he mistook the bed, and didn’t make a friend. His heart was empty and hurt, but he reminded himself of the effort his parents did for him, so he tried to put a smile on his face.

Even if it’s a fake one, at the end of the day, it will always be a smile.

Since this incident, Taehyung has been more careful on his behaviour around Jungkook, he didn’t want to make him angry. He was definitely intimidated and he was scared to make a mistake /again/.

A Tuesday night, he made a video call with his best friend Jimin, who stayed in Daegu. They missed each other a lot, but they talked about their day every night before going to sleep. But that day, Taehyung needed more support. So Jimin accepted to video call.

His best friend was currently at Taehyung’s home, with Taehyung’s parents. At the same time, he could see his loved ones : his parents and his best friend. But most importantly, Jimin showed him Yeontan. It has been weeks since he hasn’t seen him, and god knows how much he missed him, oh lord he missed Yeontan so much. Yeontan has always been there for him when nobody was. He brought comfort to him. Yeontan tilted his head, wondering why his owner was on a small screen, and not 179 cm tall in front of him.

Taehyung cooed at it, and smiled widely. But a rude voice cut his little moment of happiness: “Shut the fuck up with your ‘anww’, it’s very annoying and noisy. Shut up, for real”. Taehyung’s smile never faded that quickly.

His eyes widened at the words, he didn’t move. Immobile like a statue. He was shocked at the harsh words his roommate just said. Of course, his family wasn’t able to hear it. Couldn’t handle more, he said bye to his family and faked a smile, he didn’t want them to worry for him, and hung up. Since the words were said, Taehyung was… lifeless. There wasn’t any emotion on his face, nor on his body. He really became like a statue. He could feel his eyes getting watery, and his throat tightens more and more as time passes. But he ignored it.

He ignored it and went to sleep. Or at least, he tried.

The next day, he was emotionless, and still shocked from the day before. He didn’t sleep at all, he kept crying silently. Taehyung has never been that quiet before. He didn’t say a word anymore.

Jungkook sewed his lips together. As if Jungkook shut him down. His heart started to hurt more of course. It was in constant pain. Taehyung received nothing but hateful remarks since he moved in.

But Taehyung was very precious and kind. He never cursed someone, he’s been joyful and cheerful. He always had a positive mind-set. When he could help people, he did. When he could make people smile, he did. When he could comfort someone, he did.

He was someone to protect at all cost from this rude world we all live in.

So, Taehyung has been way more distant than before. He wouldn’t say a word, or he would avoid being in the same room as Jungkook. When Jungkook was in the kitchen, Taehyung would wait for him to leave.

But at some point, Jungkook took his time in the kitchen and Taehyung’s classes started in 10 mins. So Taehyung had to sacrifice his food to not be late. Taehyung left the room with an empty stomach. He was very sad, because he likes to eat. His cheeks are full of bread.

Jimin loves to pinch them. And he knows if he keeps avoiding Jungkook that way, he won’t even be able to eat even once. The same goes for the bathroom.

One day, Taehyung came back to the dorm late. There was that art piece he wanted to finish so bad, but the moon was already up and the sun went to sleep. Taehyung liked to stay awake for hours, he preferred the night rather than the day. He’s a Moonchild after all.

He opens the door quietly : he didn’t want to wake up his roommate. But when he finally enters, he sees a hurtful vision : Jungkook was crying on his bed. He was heavily crying, his face full of sadness and pain.

Like any human-being, Taehyung went directly to comfort Jungkook. He picked a tissue and gave it to Jungkook. But when Taehyung was about to rub Jungkook’s back, Jungkook flinched violently and pushed him away : “D-do not even touch me. Leave.”, Jungkook said, cold voice breaking Taehyung’s heart. But that didn’t stop him.

“Jungkook, i-I want to-,” Taehyung tried to approach him, in vain.

“ I said LEAVE !!,” Jungkook yelled at him.

Taehyung took a step back, and went to the bathroom. He was trembling. He also was about to cry. But he took a deep breath, and rinsed his face. After washing up, he went straight to sleep, head full of confusing thoughts.
