The Muttering Reader Of Heart

Summary:

Twins Izuku Midoriya and Koishi Midoriya, born with a complete mutation from both their parents, quirks that are polar opposites yet so very alike.

Fast forward over a decade later. The family has fallen to peaces. Nothing can fix it now, they all know, but can what remains keep the spark of family alive?

Meanwhile, the dark and unknowable move forwards, foes old and new play where no eyes can see.

Entirely a silly Self indulgent thing to get me back into writing. I just felt like being dramatic with the description. Mind Reader!Izuku ahoy. Touhou references ahead.

Chapter 1: Heartfelt Fancy - Part 1

Chapter Text

Izuku found himself sitting in front of the TV, sitting besides him was his sister, Koishi. Who shared many traits to him, the same green eyes and hair, for instance.

Both also had similar quirks, visually speaking, with their external veins flowing between them, hers purple, and rather cold to the touch. Where as Izuku's are warm, and red. With blood still pulsing through them. Each had an extra eye along the vein, though Koishi's was always closed, and Izuku couldn't see out of his.

Kacchan was in the chair nearby, not one for psyical contact (and because he thinks the twins tendrils are super weird).

On the table between them is a pile of cookies, along with 3 glasses of milk - courtasy of the twins mom, of course. The T.V was playing some herotube video about All Might. The group of 4 year olds barely understand what exactly is happening on the screen, but are entertained regardless. Giggles and cheers at All Might. Truely, a memory born from the purity of childhood.

But alas... The sting of growing up already settles in early for this group.

'Wow... All Might really is amazing... I wanna be a hero as strong as him someday!' Izuku hears a voice in his head, that sounded just like Kacchan, thinking nothing of it, and responding cheerfully "Right! We'll be the greatest heroes ever Kacchan, Koichan!"

Koishi gives a loud humming noise in the affirmative. Too focused on her cookie to really care one way or another.

Unbeknownst to the kids, Inko was watching them hang out. Her face creased in concern.

It's been a few months since the twins birthday and she has some concerns.

Koishi has been spacing out more and more lately. Inko has gotten several calls from school about how she sometimes wonders out of class. She spaces out so much at home. And sometimes when Inko looks away her eyes struggle to find her daughter again.

Then Izuku has this weird habbit of predicting just what those around him are going to say, or just responding to their thoughts...

'I think I need to schedule a quirk specialists appointment for them...'

"Eh? Why would we need a specialist mom?"

"N-nothing, Izuku."

Izuku knew it wasn't nothing, but his sister trying to force a cookie into Kacchan's mouth distracted him before he could ask.

Stretching with a yawn Izuku stirs from the happy memory, from before the world got complicated.

He tiredly stepped through his morning routine.

Feed pets, Breakfast, Brush teeth, Prepare lunch for school, Shower, Grab school clothes (tucking her eye uncomfortibly underneath), Pet pets for 15 minutes, and off to school!

School - first day of the year, actually - is a boring affair as per usual. The whispers that trail around him as drowning as ever.

"That monster again?"

"*A monster?*"

"Yeah, Midoriya."

Of course, most of those rumors are from years ago, he stopped having his quirk out by grade 7, but still they persist.

"Let's stay away, find another hallway."

"He's still so scary"

"The way he just looked at me was so scary..."

The day goes on, career aptitude quizzes introductions to what teacher and classes he has this year.

"Don't look at me."

"Not him..."

"Please, Sensei, anyone but him"

The people sitting near him aren't very good at hiding their whispers and muttered curses. Hell some of them haven't even seen his eye, only heard the rumors.

"Don't get any closer!"

Someone yells as he heads to lunch. A girl, one of the 'popular' group, that both teachers and students alike favour. And sure enough Izuku quickly spots a teacher looking disaproving at him. 'Guess I have to find another way through or I'll get in trouble... again.'

"Mrow." The two tailed, black and red quirked kitty pads up to Izuku as soon as he walks in the door. Sighing, he takes off his shirt - he'll need his eye to be able to speak to his cat.

"Hello Orin." He says, smiling down at her, making sure to pet that one spot nice and good.

'That's the spot masterrrr~' Orin purrs mentally. Her thought echoing out of her head, through Izuku's third eye, and finding their ending in his mind.

His quirk. Satori. Forces him to read the mind of anyone he points his eye. For humans, this power unnerves them, no one likes having their secrets laid bare before a stanger. Particularly not one with a freaky mumbling habit.

But animals don't care to bite the hand that feeds them. Their thoughts are much foggier than peoples - simpler minds lead to simpler thoughts - but Izuku ends up spending most of his time taking in and feeding the neighborhood strays.

"Anything happen when I was gone?" Izuku asks his cat, as much as it does probably look weird on the outside.

'Other Master Koishi came with gifts, but she left already.'

"... Koichan came by?" Izuku asks, suddenly his voice felt weak, not that the cat in his lap much minded. Well she did, but thats because the pats briefly stopped.

"Meow" 'Yepyep. Didn't stay for long, just dropped stuff in the food room and left. Said that the pretty baggie is for you.'

Orin is one of the few stray animals that sticks around his house at all times. Her and...

"Where's Okuu? Normally she would've greated me by now..." The satori thinks outloud.

Orin stops pushing thoughts for a moment to mull over 'Hunting, food wasn't enough to feed her power this morning.'

Ah so that was it.

Both Orin and Okuu were animals with quirks, and as such needed additional brainpower to facilitate their use. Their intelligence therefore is higher than most other animals, at least high enough to understand that Izuku is a human who can communicate with them.

The higher intelligence leads to needing more food, the quirk's nutritional requirements just compound this issue.

At times the simple thoughts and wills of the strays were good company. But sometimes... The complexity of human thought, to really be able to dig into someone with a sense of being. That's what he currently craves.

"So we're almost out of food for Okuu..."

'Don't forget my food bowls almost empty! I can see the bottom!'

Standing up (Much to Orins displeasure) he looks at her bowl and it's... Mostly empty. Cats.

"But yes I need to go shopping, follow if you want."

'Merrrp, naptime.'

Izuku smiles fondly, reaching for his phone to text his mom that he's going out. He truely wouldn't trade his pets for the world.

The Satori steps off the train. His third eye is out and taking in all the thoughts around it. Izuku isn't remotely able to parse them all, but feeling people minds pass through his is a high he doesn't get often enough in his day to day life.

It almost makes him want to throw caution to the wind. Go back to having his eye out at all times.

"Kacchan has a crush on Tsuba-" Boom

Never again.

The foul memory makes him bring his hand to his mouth, blocking the sound of his many, many mutters while he grabs a cart to shop with.

So deep into the unconscious autopilot of shopping, he jumps when an older man, thin and frail looking, calls for his attention.

The sickly blond quickly apologizes, "and, uh, I'm new to this area, do you know where the-"

"Third aisle to the left." Izuku winces. "Oh, s-sorry about that Yagi- ah shit." Izuku face becomes reaquainted with his hands. "Sorry sorry I'm usually better at that..."

'What a strange young man...' "I suppose it's not hurting any body." 'now what else did my daughter want...'

"You have a good day shopping for her, Yagi."

As Izuku wandered away the injured hero feels a small headache form. That boy looks familiar... Like that girl who gave him his new daughter... Though the camera footage didn't show her face, and neither Yagi remembered her face with that strange smile

He hopes that girl is okay, wherever she is.

All in all. A fairly average day for Izuku Midoriya. Who proceeded to collaspe in bed after a quiet dinner with his mom, cuddled up with his cat and his crow.

Notes:

Yes I did reference Lyrica lives interpretation of Satori Maiden. Because I can.

Because I can is half of this fic btw. This thing is going to be a graveyard of alot ideas that I can't fit into other fics lol. Though I would still appreciate feedback, and the plot will make sense. Probably.

Tags will change alot. Hell this fic might become porn or a poly ship, I have no clue. I just have a scattering of ideas
