Leon and Chris are set to be married in a year, but it seems Leon is already stressed. Looking through the pamphlets he found on the kitchen table, he and Chris have a small chat before heading out to get something for breakfast.

Work Text:

Leon looked through the wedding-planning pamphlets for venues and catering. He didn’t know who had brought the pamphlets to his and Chris’ house, but at the moment, he didn’t care. He didn’t find anything that interested him and the pricing had him raising his brows in shock.

At this moment, Leon thinks they should just do the whole thing by themselves and save some money. The wedding party wasn’t that big to begin with, and Leon thinks it would be homier to have everyone bring something to the wedding.

At the same time, he didn’t want to force anyone to bring something if they couldn’t afford it. Weddings were expensive as is, and not everyone had good financial stability.

There’s a creak of the door opening and the sound of padded footsteps on the hardwood floors. Leon turns his head and finds Chris shuffling into the kitchen, clearly having just woken up.

“Morning, Sunshine,” Leon says as his fiancé walks over and plants a kiss on his forehead, “There’s coffee in the pot for you.”

“Thank you,” Chris mumbles, “Find anything?”

“Nope,” Leon pops the p, tossing the pamphlets onto the table. “Nothing but expensive, expensive, and expensive. Everything's unreasonably expensive.”

“Maybe we can have someone we know cook? The invite list is small, I’m sure we can come up with a small menu with something everyone likes.” Chris picks up a pamphlet and wrinkles his nose. Damn, his fiancé was right, “How do people get away with charging such prices?”

“No idea,” Leon shrugged, “Do you think Jake would like to cook? I know he does some mean barbecue, and Sherry loves to bake when she can.”

Chris lets out a hum while he ponders what Leon said. Titling his head, Chris says, “I don’t mind. I know everyone likes the barbecue Jake makes, and Sherry’s an excellent baker.”

“You have your sister to thank for that,” Leon hums, “And maybe Jake? Not completely sure,”

Chris puts the pamphlet down and shuffles his way to the coffee maker. Grabbing a cup and pouring himself some coffee, Chris makes his way to the table and takes a seat. He flips through a few different pamphlets and snorts.

“Hmm…”

Leon turns his head to his finance, “Something up?”

“No,” Chris sips his coffee, “Just looking these over. Not really wanting an extravagant wedding.”

“Same,” Leon nods, his coffee cup empty and abandoned. He likes his idea of having Jake and Sherry make food for the wedding, “Oh! What about we have the food be more potluck-like?”

Chris looked at his fiancé with a raised brow, “As in, everyone brings something to the reception?”

“Yeah! It’d be cheaper than using a catering service.” Leon says, “We can provide the bulk of the food, while Jake does the barbecue. Sherry and anyone else can bring anything if they want to. The invite list is just those who are very close to us. I think it’ll work out well.”

Chris sips his coffee with a hum, “If that is what you want, Love. I don’t mind,”

“It’s our wedding, Chris. You have a say in this as well.” Leon lets out a snort, emphasizing the word ‘our’ with a pout on his face, “I know you're not a big wedding guy, but give me some of your options.”

“I have been giving input on the wedding, Love. I’m the one who brought the pamphlets home.” Chris snorted out a laugh, “We have a year to plan this, slow yourself.”

“I guess I’m feeling overwhelmed,” Leon sighs, "I'm not used to doing anything like this, and I guess I’m panicking?”

“Not panicking,” Chris gets up from his chair and walks over to his so-to-be husband, leaning down and wrapping his arms around the other. He feels Leon leaning into him and taking a deep sigh, “Just moving a little too fast. We have time, you can relax a little.”

“Maybe we should get some breakfast,” Leon hums, “A break might help.”

“I think that’s a good idea,” Chris agrees, “There’s a nice diner close by that has some mean pancakes and bacon. I think you’ll like it.”

“Oh?” Leon raised a brow, “Well, I suppose getting out of the house might be a good thing. I’m feeling a little… restless.”

“Let's get breakfast, and we’ll see how you feel afterwards.”

Both set their mugs on the table and make their way to the living room to get ready. The pamphlet debacle was left on the wayside for another time.
