Dino loves monitoring Seventeen performances at home , it was a known fact . He studies , makes notes and works on them in their succeeding concerts. It wasn't just the performances , he enjoyed all their In-House production contents and personally his solo appearances in other shows.
It was one such night where he was watching his episode with 2 Super Junior members , he remembered having fun with them.
" Which older member do you feel the most comfortable with ? "
" For me , it's Hoshi and Mingyu "
" Isn't Hoshi so easy to boss around ? He's so cute , don't you find him cute too ? "
" Absolutely . He is a hyung who feels like a maknae to me , he's very cute "
Dino chuckled at his own statement , it was the truth . Whenever he gets asked " Who's your favourite hyung ? " The answer has always been Hoshi . It hasn't really changed over 10 years. Carats know how much Hoshi dotes on Dino , he is always his one pick . Hoshi has always been loud about his adoration for Dino. Dino's cutesy side appeared more when he's with Hoshi , it was a well known fact. The adoration and respect went both ways.
Dino's concentration was not on the show anymore , it drifted towards the hyung he misses now . The enlistment hasn't been easy on them , especially Hoshi and Woozi . He got to see Jeonghan and Wonwoo at least thrice a month , it's been months since he saw Hoshi and Woozi.
Their absence created a huge void in their room , no matter how the members tried to stay positive about it . This phase of them will only grow harder with the other half enlisting soon . There might not be open talks , but it shows in their smallest habits - When they play with their rings every time they sit in solace , when the longing resurfaces hearing their voices in the songs , when their jokes aren't received by the loudest laughs of the ones missing . It stays , painfully reminding of reality.
And Hoshi , how long has it been since he met the fond eyes of him ?
Dino's chest ached in the memories which they created together . His hand reached to his phone , instinctively looking for the name in his contacts . He glanced at the time , 2.14 a.m . Hoshi would be in the dreamland with his tigers , a cruel time to disturb his sweet time. Since it was Tuesday , leaving a message would be the most appropriate method , so he could get a reply on the weekend.

You said you had a mild pain on your shoulder , how is it now ?
Can you leave a voice message? I just want to hear your voice ..
Dino wanted to delete the last message , he was almost regretting sending it now . But his heart was saying otherwise , so he decided to listen to it and leave the message as it is.
" I should go to sleep "

Dino didn't mean to overthink , but his mind has no history of listening to him . It has been 4 days since he sent that message , 3 days since Hoshi left him on read receipt .
Strange , very strange . Hoshi isn't the type to leave the message on read , especially from the members . Also , it wasn't a casual or business message . Dino felt contradicted , his members would very much agree . But Dino hasn't shared it with anyone , he simply couldn't.
" Dino , are you not planning to leave ? It's been 15 mins since we are done with today's practice and you haven't moved your ass from that floor " Seungkwan asked, visibly getting ready to leave the room . Only Seungkwan , Dokyeom and he remained in the room along with a few dancers.
" Are you tired ? Wanna go get some coffee with us ? " Dokyeom asked, ruffling the younger's hair . " No hyung , I'll leave in some time . Don't you guys have a DxS schedule in the morning ? " Dino asked tiredly, tilting his head up to look at them. " Yep , we'll be done with it in the morning and then enjoy the weekend ! " Seungkwan stretched his arms up with a squeal , Dokyeom hugged him from the side laughing.
" You guys work so hard , Fighting ! " Dino cheered , the two elders found him cute . " Thank you nodi , get some rest on the weekend alright ? No drinking " Dokyeom warned , Dino sulked. " You guys need to stop spreading this image seriously "
" We will stop when you stop , go home now . It's gonna be 1 a.m soon " Seungkwan and Dokyeom bid him farewell and left the room shortly . Dino was worried for the few hours of sleep they'll get before their next schedule , his members were amazing. Back to back schedules took a heavy toll on their health , most of the members have a hiatus history . He still remembers how Hoshi's lips turned blue after their practices and even on stage , he would still smile and continue while the rest of them were scared to death.
Again , Hoshi . He needs to stop thinking about Hoshi . But it isn't easy to forget the face that has been a part of your life for nearly 13 years right ? When he's a part of all memories , it was impossible to cut him from the image .
He sat there for another 15 mins , and now the room was empty . He picked up his bag and adjusted his hoodie , pulled his hair back and wore a cap to hide his tired face . He took one last glance around the practice room and turned the lights off . Just when he was about to open the door , a figure overtook him and entered the room . When Dino tried to turn the lights on , the figure pulled the younger one closer to him . They were face to face now .
" Wha–what who – " A hand hovered over his mouth , allowing no more words to escape . He knew those hands , he knew that warmth around him . Even in the darkness , he knew those eyes which resembled crescent moons.
" Hoshi hyung " Dino muttered , he could feel the grin under the mask .
" Did you miss me baby ? " Hoshi asked, cupping the younger's face . Dino was flabbergasted.
" What are you doing here at this hour ? When did you come here ? You have a leave ? " Dino lined up the questions , Hoshi shook his head playfully . " I just asked my Senior if I could spend this Saturday outside since my loved one messaged me at 2 in the night that he wants to hear my voice . He allowed me , and here I am " Hoshi said casually , Dino's lips parted in shock.
" I–just asked you for a voice message .. never mind . Wait, did you come here again in your uniform ? " Dino held his shoulders and checked , Hoshi laughed in dismissal . " Ofcourse not , I dropped by home and changed before coming here . Today is a day I didn't want to attract anyone's attention , I sneaked in here "
Dino tilted his head , confused . " Wait , no one knows you are here ? "
" Ofcourse not , you are the only one who knows . I came just for you Dino , you know I can't escape if anyone catches a glimpse of me " Hoshi ruffled his hair with a soft chuckle . Dino's heart skipped a beat , he couldn't even recall the last time he felt this.
" Okay we have no time , we gotta leave now " Hoshi held his hand and rushed outside , Dino didn't have the time to process as he was practically dragged by the elder to the parking lot. They quickly got in the car , which happened to belong to Hoshi . Dino panted heavily as he settled in the passenger seat , he turned to Hoshi who took his mask off now . He looked just the same as when he left , the soft squishy cheeks and short hair that exposed his forehead .
" Hyung , you drove here ? Wh-ere are we going ? " Dino fastened his seatbelt since the elder was doing so. " As much as I want us to cuddle and chill at home , there's somewhere I want us to go tonight . No more questions , we have no time " Hoshi started the engine , driving off the Hybe building.
Dino didn't know what they were even doing , he was just happy to see Hoshi again.

The drive took almost 1.5 hours , they were in the outskirts of Seoul. " Did you really kidnap me from the practice room for a night drive ? " Dino asked, enjoying the chill night breeze from the lowered windows .
" Kidnapped you ? I gave you all the time to run away , you didn't " Hoshi reminded , Dino suppressed his smile, refusing to look at him . " I can't run away when I'm the reason you are here Hoshi hyung " Dino replied , it was Hoshi's turn to mimic the smile.
Their long car drive came to a halt near a small building . Dino followed Hoshi out , glancing at the silent neighbourhood wearily . Hoshi interlaced their fingers , catching the younger's attention . " Hyung is here with you , let's go " Hoshi reassured , proceeding to walk towards the door . What Dino didn't expect was the flashy lights and loud music filling his ears on the other end of the door . He didn't expect it to be a club . The place was quite crowded , it was pretty much only men.
" Hyung , is it okay for us to be here ? " Dino asked , quite doubtful . " It is . This is a Soldiers only club , it is not for commoners . There are only 5 units allowed here , my Taekwondo team happens to be one of them . I've already informed my friend I'm taking you with me , we have the permission . This is a safe space , no one knows us Dino . You don't have to worry " Hoshi reassured Dino, who was amused.
They found themselves in the middle of soldiers enjoying themselves , no one seemed to mind them . Dino wondered if he was in a dream - Flashy lights , Music and Hoshi .
" We can't drink here Dino , let's save that for tomorrow at home " Hoshi reminded , Dino giggled bumping his fists in the elder's chest . " I know , I don't need it either "
" You sure ? Since when did our maknae say no to alcohol ? "
" I know to say no when I have to , not my problem if y'all are idiots "
" Ohhh~~~ , I missed this back talking " Hoshi pinched the younger's cheeks . " How is the practice for Caratland coming up ? " Dino swayed his head with the music giving him a nod . " Pretty good , digging our old songs is always fun . Carats are gonna have a blast for sure , will you come to watch ? "
Hoshi shrugged his shoulders . " I really want to , I've been talking with Woozi as well . We are trying our best to make ourselves available for Caratland , let's hope we get to " . Dino knew that tone of Hoshi , when he wasn't sure about things . From being incredibly sick of seeing each other for more than a decade to being sick of not being able to be together even on an important day , how unfortunate.
Dino flinched when Hoshi caressed his face , slowly wiping away a tear falling from his eyes which he wasn't aware of . " I know , it's tough . We can't do anything about it baby " Hoshi smiled tiredly , thumb softly caressing the younger's cheeks. Dino jumped into the elder's arms , wrapping his arms tight around those firm shoulders. Hoshi buried his face into the younger's neck , holding him close in a way he didn't wanna let go. Hearing Dino sniffle , Hoshi gently caressed the back of his head.
" I'm proud of you baby , you are doing amazing without me "
Dino shook his head , burying his face deep into the elder's neck. " No , you aren't there to appreciate me when I do well . You aren't there to learn the dance quickly with me and go over the details all night . You aren't there to hug me when I think I messed up things . You aren't there , you simply aren't there hyung ! "
A single tear escaped from Hoshi's eyes , no longer being able to stay nonchalant . He recalled the day of his enlistment , when this younger one simply wouldn't let go of his hand. It took him days to forget those yearning eyes of Dino . Now he wonders if he actually got over it or simply pretended to.
Hoshi turned Dino and hugged him from the back , resting his chin on the younger's head. " Close your eyes , focus on us now " Dino closed his eyes as instructed , hands interlocking with Hoshi.
" I am always here baby , in your dance . In your mind . In your heart . I've never let you go "
Dino smiled , leaning back into Hoshi's chest as the elder swayed them to the jazz music behind . " I miss Coups hyung's pouts , I miss Hannie hyung's teases , I miss Shua hyung's fond eyes , I miss Jun's cute jokes , I miss being in the studio with Woozi , I miss Wonwoo clinging to me , I miss clinging to Kyeomie , I miss teasing Mingyu , I miss Myungho nagging at me , I miss bickering with Kwannie , I miss Nonie's chin tickles and I miss you being around me , I miss every small thing about us which looked normal earlier and precious now "
Dino chuckled at their memories , he couldn't imagine how his life would have turned if he hadn't met the members who he spent half of his life with . There was even a time he thought of leaving them , but he crossed that stage with the help of the members . Their relationship had changed tremendously over years , somewhere between found family and soulmates.
" Thank you for being with us Hoshi hyung , I love you " Hoshi was taken back at the sudden confession , he rubbed his cheeks against the younger one in response . " I love you a lot too , now let's dance shall we ? " Hoshi let go of Dino , who turned to him with an excited nod .
The DJ just had to play Eyes on you , talk about timing in life . They broke out into laughter , jumping to the music . They only knew music , dance and each other for the next few hours.

It was 7.00 a.m by the time they drove back home . They did stop by the river for the sunrise , capturing them with those sleep deprived swollen eyes .
Hoshi laid on the bed after changing into the younger's loose fitted clothes which fit him just right , scrolling his phone for some unread messages . Dino came out of the shower , and didn't hesitate a second before jumping on top of Hoshi .
" Hey hey baby giant , you forget you are huge these days " Hoshi managed to put his phone aside while Dino was almost strangling him . " Doing this so you know how I felt when you jumped on me when I was younger " Dino moved to the elder's side , using his hyung's arm as a pillow.
" In my defence , you and Seungkwan loved cuddling with me " Hoshi defended.
" We still do , you are the one with a problem now "
" Hey , when did I ever push you guys away ? Even if Seungkwan and I pulled each other's hair a few seconds earlier , I know better than to push him away and get beaten later "
" Maybe I should call Seungkwan and show him who gets the cuddles now " Dino tried to get up , Hoshi pulled him down in an instant . " No please , I wanna sleep . I can't deal with the Boo Youmi now " Hoshi pleaded , Dino laughed. " Seungkwan won't pick up anyways , he has a schedule with Kyeomie hyung " Hoshi let out a sigh , wrapping his arm around Dino's waist . " My Boo and Seok are working so hard , while Soon gets to sleep . I miss them so much "
" Someone wants to see his Boo and Seok , didn't you say you aren't gonna see anyone else ? " Dino teased , Hoshi looked at him with a pout . " We gotta stop talking about them , otherwise my urge to see them rises "
" You know we can see them right ? They are most likely to crash at Seungkwan's apt once their schedule is done " Dino suggested , Hoshi considered it . " I'm surprised those two are always on good terms after spending a lot of time together these days even outside schedules , how did they not even fight once and wreck our group chat ? Crazy character development " Hoshi stated in amusement .
" Yeah , that one time you three fought over dinner choice and got heavily scolded by Coups hyung . Maybe you were the problem , those two are peaceful while being all lovey dovey " Dino inserted in a teasing tone , Hoshi threw him a side eye.
" You need to stop spending too much time with Myungho " Hoshi punched the younger's cheeks playfully .
" I'm just telling the truth Hoshi hyung "
" Exactly , you are banned from hanging out with Myungho for a week "
" Say something practical , in fact Myungho hyung and I are going out this Tuesday for a Lunch date " Dino added , Hoshi sighed closing his eyes. " C'mon stop sulking , I won't tease you anymore " Dino pinched the elder's cheeks , who sulked even more .
Dino pressed a kiss to the elder's cheeks , a trick which always works with him . Surprisingly , it didn't work . Dino went for another kiss on cheeks , he observed Hoshi's cheeks turning pink. Dino thought of something , he wasn't gonna miss the chance to make Hoshi flustered.
So Dino leaned forward and pecked the elder's lips , which got the immediate response he wanted. He pulled back quickly , while Hoshi's eyes fluttered open in surprise . " Wh-what was that ? " Hoshi touched his own lips , cheeks turning redder than earlier.
" Don't act like we haven't done it before , especially you . You have a 12/12 record in Seventeen , simply excluding yourself " Dino reminded . " I know , it's just .. it's been a long time . Usually it's me and Booseok playing around with kisses . At times , Coups & Hannie hyungs , Mingyu as well . I thought you didn't like it , I mean you don't push us away but you don't initiate it either . What's with this change ? " Hoshi asked , quite flustered.
" Well , I think I just missed you very much . If you don't like it it's ok — " Dino couldn't complete his sentence when Hoshi pressed his lips on him , stealing a couple of pecks before moving back with a grin. " I love it , very much " Hoshi smirked , Dino's lips parted with no words left to escape.
" Just sleep " Dino hid his face under the blanket , Hoshi laughed cuddling the younger . " Good morning , sweet dreams "

After a full stretched 10 hour sleep , they both woke up in the evening with much effort . " Dino yah , let's order some delivery . I think I'm gonna faint in hunger " Hoshi grumbled on bed . " Go and freshen up , I have some Kimchi jjigae in the refrigerator . I'll heat it up and make some rice " Dino washed his face and went to the kitchen to make their first meal of the day.
Hoshi came out dressed , his lips curving into a smile when the aroma reached his nose . " Thank you for the meal " Hoshi and Dino dug in , the growls in their stomach calming down slowly. " Mmmmmmmmm ~~ baby , you've gotten so much better at cooking . I think you can compete with Mingyu now " Hoshi stated proudly , Dino blushed shaking his head.
" Please never say this in front of others , I'll be the one to suffer while you fly in the air in your base " Dino commented , Hoshi laughed ruffling the younger's hair with his other hand. Once done with the meal , Hoshi helped him do the dishes . They comfortably settled on the couch , Hoshi's arms wrapped around Dino's waist naturally for the cuddles. They tuned into Going Seventeen , the Boodo special featuring Pi Cheolin.
" Tchh seriously those two , do they think they are scary ? All I see is two cuties wannabe devils . Did you participate in this for free ? " Hoshi asked curiously. " On the plans of having those two feature in my comeback special , Nothing in this world is free " Dino shrugged his shoulders , Hoshi chuckled agreeing with the younger one.
" You wanna see them , don't you ? Let's just go , it's better than rotting in the couch until night " Dino suggested , Hoshi leaned back with hesitation. " Hyungg , c'mon . I know you fought with Seungkwan , you can make up in 2 mins . You're coming with me " Dino stood up and pulled the elder's hand , Hoshi whined and let himself get pulled away.
Hoshi drove them to Seungkwan's Apt , since Dino was certain that Dokyeom would be present as well . That was one of the reasons why he bravely took Hoshi there . If those two cause any trouble , he knows his Dokyeom hyung can handle them.
Hoshi crouched himself to hide behind Dino while he rang the bell . " Seungkwana it's me " Dino said through the intercom . The door opened with an unexpectedly expected face , Dokyeom. " Hey nodi , what brings you here ? Did you call Seungkwan by any chance ? " Dokyeom asked in surprise while stiffening a yawn , he was clearly sleeping . " No I didn't , don't worry . I didn't come alone tho " Dino smiled looking over his shoulder.
" Hey Seok " Hoshi peeked from Dino's shoulder , his eyes disappearing into crescent moons . Dokyeom gasped , a wide smile blooming on his face the next second. " Hey Hoshi hyung , wahh when did you come here ? " Hoshi jumped into Dokyeom's embrace , who held him tight . " Let's say I took a leave today , are you doing well my Kyeomie ? " Hoshi cupped the younger's face , who nodded his head with a grin.
" Let's go in guys , don't want Seungkwan's neighbours complaining once again " Dino reminded walking them in .
" How's your shoulder now ? Did you check with the doctor ? " Dokyeom asked, gently caressing the elder's arm . " I'm good now , the Doctors in the camp took care of it " Hoshi assured . " Still you gotta take it slow hyungie , Seungcheol hyung is in panic every time he sees you doing a backflip " Dokyeom advised , Hoshi chuckled and hugged Dokyeom once again.
" Is Seungkwan sleeping ? How is he not out after hearing our loud voices ? " Dino wondered , walking into the bedroom. He saw Seungkwan sleeping sound on the bed , hugging himself to make up for the missing warmth . He was probably cuddling Dokyeom earlier.
" Hey Kwan , wake up . You have a special guest waiting for you " Dino shook Seungkwan's arms lightly , the elder grumbled leaning into the pillow . " Don't wake me up hyungie , pleaseeeee " Seungkwan whined in sleep , Dino scoffed. " Yah , do I sound like Dokyeomie hyung ? Boo Seungkwan ! " Dino shook the elder's arms aggressively, waking Seungkwan up .
" Dino ? What are you doing here ? " Seungkwan frowned with a yawn . " Hoshi hyung is here , come out " Seungkwan's eyes grew wide . " Not the time to prank me , that guy has no leaves until next month . Do you think I don't check our schedules ? " Seungkwan complained , trying to go back to sleep.
" Come out and see for yourself if you have that many trust issues " Dino moved out of the room , looking over his shoulders if the elder woke up . " Aishhh , seriously Dino " Seungkwan got out of the bed , following him out to the living room.
Seungkwan couldn't believe his own eyes . " Ho-Hoshi ? Are you seriously here ? " Seungkwan gasped , covering his mouth dramatically.
" Yes I am , have you been well Seungkwanie ? " Hoshi stepped forward hesitantly , Seungkwan tilted his head confused . " Are you not going to hug me Hoshi aa ? " Seungkwan asked with a pout , Hoshi took the sign and embraced Seungkwan in his arms.
" I missed you so much Kwannie , I'm sorry for teasing you and making you mad last time " Hoshi apologized burying his face into the younger's neck . " I missed you too hyung , how can I be mad when I miss you more " Seungkwan pouted, rubbing their cheeks together , Hoshi chuckled before pulling back .
" I'm surprised you guys even keep a track of fights , I've lost it long back " Dokyeom added in amusement , throwing his arm around Dino's shoulder . " Same hyung " Dino agreed , giving him a hifi. " Okay explain , how are you here ? " Seungkwan asked the main question , which Dino narrated for them cinematically .
" Wahh Kwon Soonyoung , I'm so happy that you are still into these types of heroic stunts " Seungkwan clapped his hands in awe , meanwhile Dokyeom pinched the elder's ear earning a groan. " So you planned to escape without meeting us , seriously Soon ? " Dokyeom scolded with sulk , Hoshi rubbed his palms together in apology . Dokyeom left him , still shooting a glare.
" If I meet all of you , I won't be able to leave tonight . It's just Dino who called for me anyways " Hoshi hugged Dino from behind , the main vocalists glanced at each other before piercing the eldest through eyes. " I'm not saving you , no way " Dino pushed Hoshi forward , the elder shot him a look of betrayal .
" Okay okay , I'm sorry . I couldn't stay there anyways knowing you two are here " Hoshi apologized , the two stayed unfazed. " C'mon , smile smile " Hoshi squished their cheeks , shaking their heads left and right . They eventually gave up , not being able to stay mad at their loveable hyung.
" You can't meet the others anyways . Coups and Mingyu left for Busan this morning , while the others are in China . Only we are here to greet you " Seungkwan stated , Hoshi nodded with the thoughts of other members running in the back of his mind. " Btw , how did your schedule go this morning ? " Dino asked , Seungkwan and Dokyeom gave him a thumbs up .
" You have been staying with Seungkwan a lot these days , do you even go home ? " Hoshi asked Dokyeom , who rolled his eyes. " That's an exaggeration . We just crash here twice or thrice a week , his apt is cozy to sleep after a long day " Dokyeom explained himself , Seungkwan agreed with him.
" Just sleeping , sure " Hoshi smirked , Dokyeom and Seungkwan blushed . " What's with that look ? We don't do anything , wipe that smirk away " Seungkwan complained . " I didn't say anything , I know you my loves " Hoshi shot them a teasing smile , Dokyeom kicked his shin . " You and your mind , then what did you and Dino do last night ? " Seungkwan asked .
" Now why am I getting involved in your drama ? " Dino was taken back . " Don't act innocent , I know what you are up to these days " Seungkwan teased , Dino scoffed.
" Okay Boo Youmi , don't come at me now " Dino bowed , Seungkwan rolled his eyes . " Hey Kwannie , your Boo Youmi version is just so pretty . I just couldn't believe it was you , how did you guys even come up with that idea ? Woozi loved it so much too " Hoshi complimented in awe.
" Thank you , but are you saying that only Boo Youmi is pretty ? What about Boo Seungkwan ? Am I not pretty ? " Seungkwan asked, leaning forward . Hoshi glanced at Dokyeom and Dino , who suddenly found the ceiling interesting . " Backstabbers " He cursed under his breath.
" Every version of you is pretty Seungkwan , I just wanna emphasize Boo Youmi now " Hoshi explained , Seungkwan nodded satisfied . Dokyeom and Dino let out a breath in relief. " Okay , how about we celebrate with brownies ? I made some earlier " Dokyeom suggested , the three clapped expressing their love for the dessert.
The next few hours went in military talks and practice room gossip . It was already 8 p.m , time for Hoshi to leave.
" You are having a week-long holiday next month right ? You better spend it with us " Seungkwan warned with a pout , Hoshi chuckled pulling Seungkwan into his embrace. " I will , promise " Seungkwan pressed a kiss to the elder's cheeks .
" Please rest , it hurts my heart to see you being overworked there as well . You're doing okay right ? " Dokyeom asked softly , Hoshi nodded letting himself be pulled into the younger's arms. " I am , don't worry Kyeomie . If anything happens , you will be the first to know " Hoshi assured connecting their foreheads , Dokyeom smiled warmly.
" Nodi , do you wanna stay here with us ? " Dokyeom asked Dino , who he knows will feel lonely at home once Hoshi leaves . " Yeah Dino , just be here . We'll have a movie night " Seungkwan added , Dino agreed loving the idea.
" Can I walk you to the parking lot ? " Dino asked with longing eyes , Hoshi nodded softly .
Reaching the car , Dino was reluctant to leave the elder's hand . Hoshi turned to him , hands naturally wrapping around the younger's waist . " Look at me " Hoshi raised the younger's chin , looking into his eyes.
" Waiting is an important phase of our lives now . This year it is you , next year it will be me . Remember what Jeonghan hyung said , you are supposed to wait endlessly for the people you love . We can do this , right ? " Hoshi watched a small smile finding its place on the younger's face.
" Yes , we can . Take care of yourself , call me once you reach your base " Dino let him go with much reluctance , wanting to send the elder off with a smile.
