Cosmo was quietly baking some goods in the kitchen, nothing out of the ordinary, though most of the time there was Sprout baking with him.
It was very early in the morning, around 6:00 am, and the pastry was lost in his thoughts. Recently, he started developing a feeling for his best friend-Sprout.
The way he acts, the way he talks, the way he looks, it all made Cosmo flustered.
With each passing day, Cosmo's feelings started to take over him more, and more. He could feel a weird feeling in his stomache, everytime Sprout was around. Even thinking about him made his cheeks turn red. Was it normall best-friends behaviour?
The pastry wondered while mixing butter with flour and milk, when suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his lungs, which made him bend over the cold kitchen floor, dropping the the ingriedients for cookies he was making at the moment.
The bowl fell down with a loud bang. The pain got even worse, and Cosmo started coughing uncontrollably.
He watched in terror, as white flowers came flowing from his mouth with every cough. If not the circumstances everything was happening in, he would proppably adore them, with their elegant shape and colour. When the coughing stopped the pastry got up.
His breath started to accelerate. Terrified, he looked down at the flowers covering the floor next to him. That's not normal, is it…? he thought. Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed in the hallway. He turned his head, to see his cousin, Ginger.
-Hey there Cos- She stopped, looking down at the flowers scattered on the floor surprised.
She looked Cosmo in the eyes, not realizing, what was happening.
-what are you doing, opening a flower shop or something? The cookie asked playfully, but upon seeing his face, she realized this was more serious than she originaly have thought.
Cosmo slowly sat down on the cold kitchen floor, and hid his face in his hands.
-Ginger, i think.. something weird's going on with me. He said, turning his head to face the christmas cookie.
Ginger came closer, and sat beside the pastry.
-Why? come on Cos, you can tell me anything!.She said a bit concerned
The pastry pulled his knees to his chest, and looked at his older cousin.
-i think i'm… sick? He saied in a not-so-steady voice.
-Sick? What do you mean? Does something hurt you? Ginger looked at her younger cousin worried.
-Well, i was just baking as usual, but suddenly, my like, ..lungs? started to hurt REALLY bad, and i started to cough really hard, and for some reason, flowers came out? ..As weird as that sounds. Cosmo stopped talking for a moment, and then continued. That's not normal.. is it?
Cosmo made an effort to smile gently towards his cousin, but the only thing he could see was the terror on her face. Suprised Cosmo tilted his head slightly, what could possibly scare her so much?
-Cosmo.. you don't know what this means, do you..? Ginger's voice started to shake.
-No..? The pastry answered, still confused.
Ginger took his hands, and looked him in the eyes.
-It's hanahaki disease Cosmo.
