Chapter Text
Xena woke up slowly, she thought about the only nitable vision she had in her dreams that night. A framed picture of her brother, Caleb fell onto a wooden floor and the glass covering the picture shattered, before the picture became just the background without Caleb, as if he just faded out of existence. Xena took her cat designed black sleep mask off of her head and threw it haphazardly to the side, wiping her eyes and yawning afterwards. "That was a dissopointing vision, I've seen that one before. And by the way, it won't happen, no matter how many times you tell me to" Xena muttered, tiredness in her voice, talking to vaguely to the air around her.
Xena got out of bed and walked one room over into the living room, crashing onto the couch as heavily as her small frame and weight would be able to. After a moment of sitting there she had an epiphany, "Oh, I need to start on a new drawing, that vision will be good to draw, why haven't I thought of that before?" suddenly she heard her phone ringing from her room, a basic ringtone that came with her phone. When she went back to her room to see who was calling her she saw the caller ID displayed Caleb. "Hey Sis, I was going with some friends to the Museum of Contemporary Art downtown, do you want to come along?" Caleb invited. Xena responded as she yawned, "I'm busy, I just woke up anyways I'm still tired..." "You don't do stuff without me dragging you out of your apartment. Unless you've found someone else to drag you places, you're just trying to get out of leaving your apartment." Caleb Stated. Xena sat there silent, still too tired to think of a good excuse and eventually conceded, "Fiiinnee... I'll go." "Perfect, I'll drop by to pick you up in twenty minutes, get changed into street clothes before I arrive this time, please." Caleb teased before hanging up.
Xena had just exited the bedroom when Caleb entered the apartment, holding the key to Xena's apartment that she gave him when she moved in. Xena greeted him with a wave, "I got dressed before you arrived, just as you said." Caleb raised his eyebrows and said in retort, "You closed the door to your bedroom just a second after I opened the door to your apartment, so either you got something out of your room, or you just got dressed." "Fine, I just got dressed, at least I didn't keep you waiting this time." Xena grumped, giving Caleb a light punch to the shoulder as she walked towards the door.
Xena got into Caleb's silver Corolla and sat in the passenger side seat and looked at her brother, "Whats the plan?" "We'll meet with Jackson and Hugo at the Farmer's Market, then walk to the museum and meet Gavin there, he lives within walking distance of the museum" Caleb told Xena.
After the visit to the museum, Celeb and Xena went to a café to get a real breakfast, Xena eating after 2 days, "I don't need to eat today, I'll have something tomorrow" Xena protested as she was standing with her brother as he was ordering her the sweetest thing to eat on the menu. Caleb replied, "I know, but its not like you'll have anything in your fridge to put together a proper meal" Xena stood there annoyed her brother was right and didn't say anything to counter. "By the way, Sis, have you ever wondered what in your body causes you to only need to eat once every 3 days?" Caleb asked. Xena sat there, thinking back to any time she might have questioned the nature of how her biology works, "I guess not, I've never really questioned it. I've never even questioned not knowing how the internal biology of my body works, as far as I know my insides are just an empty void, what enters it doesn't leave, it just disappears" Xena answered after a few moments of thinking.
That day Xena didn't start on a new painting, she was busy looking into ways to start learning about herself.
