Despite operating alongside heroes known for strict no-gun policies, she remains confident in her own methods and is not easily intimidated by authority.
History
Born and raised in Gotham City, Irene Smith attended Gotham Academy on scholarship. During her school years she shared classes with both Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon, becoming a familiar face in their social circles.
Following the events that granted countless individuals powers through Exobyte exposure, Irene developed potent psychic abilities. Her emergence as a metahuman created an unusual dilemma. Not only did she possess powers, but she also favored firearms, two characteristics that traditionally placed her far outside Batman's preferred recruiting pool.
However, persistent lobbying from both Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon eventually convinced Bruce Wayne to take a chance on her. Against his better judgment, Batman agreed to mentor the newly empowered vigilante.
The arrangement proved more successful than anyone expected.
