Work Text:
Robby was so excited for handover, until he realized that they were ten minutes into night shift's start and Jack still wasn't there. It was unlike him to be even a millisecond late, so Robby checked the roof, waiting room, and staff room before spotting Shen getting settled in and deciding to saddle up to him.
"Didn't know you were scheduled tonight," Robby hummed, watching him drink his iced coffee at an alarming pace.
"Abbot called out," he shrugged.
"Yeah? That's weird."
"Quit trying to 'subtly' get info out of me, I don't know why."
Robby smiled and walked away. He collected his things from his locker and walked outside to call Jack. He listened to the dial tone just long enough to get a little nervous.
"Hey," Jack said on the other line.
Robby smiled a little at the sound of his voice, turning his back at people waking out so they wouldn't see him cheesing. "Hey."
"I was wondering how long it would take for you to call."
"Ass. Where are you?"
"Home."
"Are you gonna keep being vague?"
Jack chuckled. "Phantom pain bullshit. Couldn't be fucked to put my leg on, so."
Robby scrunched his nose. Jack was so tough about everything, always putting on a brave face. Hearing him openly admit physical discomfort was a privilege reserved for Robby, and he did not take his responsibilities as holder of this information lightly.
"Is that all?" Jack hummed as they sat in silence.
"I'm waiting for your line."
Jack somehow managed to audibly roll his eyes. "Are you coming over or not?"
"Yeah, yeah. I'm coming. Need anything from the store?"
"Bring Advil and my heart is yours."
"Is it not already?"
Jack hung up, but Robby heard him chuckle on the other end. He picked up two packages of Advil and made his way to his boyfriend's place.

The lights were low when Robby got in using his spare key. Jack's prosthetic was abandoned by the couch, indicating an earlier struggle. Robby moved through the house like a crime scene investigator.
He found the bedroom door slightly open, and nudged it further.
Moonlight shone in through the curtains. It was dark enough for him to need to squint to see. The closet was open, but Jack's scrubs were on the floor and the man himself was curled up in bed.
Jack smiled at him from the bed. He turned off his phone and sat it aside, motioning for Robby to come closer.
He sat on the edge of the bed, putting his hand on Jack's thigh. "You okay?"
"Yeah? Why wouldn't I be?"
"You said your leg was hurting."
"Or lack thereof," Jack chuckled. "And yeah, it was."
Robby let him tug him down into a slow kiss.
Their lips pressed together softly. Robby wasn't always used to this kind of kiss from Jack at first. Jack always seemed to prefer things a little rougher. However, Robby was learning that Jack liked having his soft moments too, if not more.
"Was?" He hummed against Jack's lips.
Jack grinned. "It's been better for a while. I just wanted you to come home early."
Robby rolled his eyes, but smiled.
"You could've just asked.
"It really was hurting earlier."
"Sure."
"Maybe if you came over more, I wouldn't have to lie."
Robby chuckled and stripped down to his boxers, ignoring Jack's wolf whistles as he did so.
He slipped on a shirt he had left last time he was over and climbed in beside Jack, rubbing his hand on his right thigh the way he knew Jack liked when the nerves were acting up.
Jack wrapped around him comfortably, surrounding him like an octopus. He liked to play stoic back when they first got together. However, a few years in and Jack was happy to cling to him like ivy on a fence.
"I missed you," Jack hummed into his chest.
"You make it seem like I neglect you."
"You leave your poor, disabled boyfriend alone-"
"Oh my god. So dramatic."
Jack chuckled, but Robby got the impression that Jack wasn't kidding as much as he was.
Jack leaned his head on Robby's chest, holding himself up with his chin. "Feels like I haven't seen you in a month." He looked up at Robby knowingly. He always got this look about him when he was trying to hint at things. He wasn't very subtle.
Robby stroked his curls, watching him relax. He sighed and closed his eyes. Robby thought about the last time he just cuddled with Jack like this and…yeah, it had been a while.
"I'm sorry, hun. I didn't realize how much time I was spending at work."
Jack chuckled. "You only call me that when you feel really bad."
Robby made a big show of making a sad expression at him, taking both his hands in his own and holding them in front of their faces. "How can I ever make up for my transgressions?"
Jack pretended to think. Robby already knew what he wanted, but he decided to play along as Jack pantomimed getting an idea.
"Come cuddle me, and let me be big spoon," Jack smiled.
Robby rolled his eyes and pretended like he was going to argue, but he rolled over onto his side of the bed and let Jack curl up, face pressed into his back and strong arms wrapped around him. Jack stayed conscious just long enough to help Robby pick a movie before popping two Advil and passing out.
Robby allowed himself to be cuddled long enough to satiate Jack. He rolled back onto his other side and massaged gentle circles into his right thigh, watching his sleeping face relax as his hands worked.
Jack always hated to admit it, but his stump hurt more often than not after work. It was a good thing they knew one another so well, because they sure liked to hide their aches and pains.
