Astro’s day was going well enough, He had gotten to sleep through Ms. Hurley’s class thanks to Sprout. Meanwhile Sprout wanted to find an excuse to talk to that sleepyhead more; even if it meant taking the consequences of his childhood friend's drowsiness. But the only problem Sprout had was Vee and Dandy, Astro mainly hangs out with them.. and they don’t let him out of their sight. Vee always invites Astro to their town’s rollerskating rink when Veronica gets her upset; it’s either that or the arcade, she’d never ask Astro to the beach.. They both hate the water anyway. On the other hand, Dandy still clings on to Astro with the need to be best friends and Astro can’t seem to say no to him, he's still not so stable so Sprout sorta gets it. Even with how backed up Astro’s schedule always is, how could he find an excuse to hang out one on one with Astro out of the blue? On top of that he only had one class with him.. “..hm? Go to the diner today? I’m sorry. I promised Vee I’d go to the rollerskating rink with her in the afternoon.” Sprout just looked at his deskmate with a nervous smile. “Oh. Haha! Well you know how she gets.” Astro smiled at him a bit before putting his head down into his two sets of crossed arms, Sprout loomed over his shoulder. “I know I know.. I can’t sleep today.” Sprout tapped his pencil on his paper before saying something back. “Why do you even go with Vee to the rollerskating rink. Don’t you have your skateboard?” He caught the moon boy dozing off before tugging at his collared uniform to catch his attention. “Sorry.. uh. I do prefer my skateboard but Vee sometimes gets upset when I don’t go with her. So I just.. yawn ..go with her to not make her even more sad. I’d say it's better to be there.” That's what Astro said earlier that day. Sprout went to his baking club after the period ended, him and Cosmo have their free periods at the same time. He also went because he wanted to ask Cosmo if he wanted to do something hes despised since Gardenview. “Roller skating?.. thats.. different.” Cosmo had a suspicious look on his face. Sprout kneaded dough in his hands while sweating bullets trying to avoid explaining his situation to Cosmo. “Is it wrong to try and give something another shot?.. I mean it has been awhile.” Sprout couldn’t help but notice the tray of cookies Cosmo had taken out of the oven to cool, they had Astro’s face on them. “..Are those Astro cookies?” Cosmo looked at him with a blank expression “Well do they NOT look like him?, we used to bake these everyday when Gardenview was still open. Don’t think I can ever forget how to make them now, Haha.” Sprout was obviously staring at the cookies on the tray in front of him. “Hello?? …Cosmo to Sprout.. By the way, didn't I tell you to wear a bandana? Your leaves are going to fall into the dough.” He definitely screwed up now, he proved he had his mind somewhere else. Between looking at the cookies with Astro’s lovely face on them and forgetting to put a bandana to cover his leaves, Cosmo could tell. “Sprout. Tell me why you’re so distracted or you’re not getting ANY Astro cookies and I mean not even a crumb.” He stared at his best friend with a glare as Sprout put his bandana on. “OKAY OKAY. Fine! Sure I want to go to the rollerskating rink to hang out with Astro. I mean he has his schedule all done up already because Vee wants to be around him all the time AND DANDY HE-“ Cosmo stopped him. “Huh. Okay.. I think I understand, thats why you’ve been so crazy over going… But you don’t even know how to rollerskate, Vee’s going to laugh and before you know it everyones going to laugh at you.” He set down the tray of cookies and took off his baking gloves before looking over to Sprout again, whos on the verge of tears. “I can’t make a fool of myself infront of Astro..!” Sprout reached for a cookie, but Cosmo swatted his hand away quickly. Sprout put a rolling pin to the dough he was previously kneading, Cosmo put a hand over the rolling pin. “Sprout, we’re going to go to that rollerskating rink and even though I know Vee’s going to make fun of you.. I’ll try and help you learn how to skate. Listen even if I didn’t offer to teach you, Astro isn’t going to make fun of you y’know..” He took his hand off the rolling pin and offered Sprout the tray of cookies. “Take one for yourself, offer the rest to Astro to butter him up?” Cosmo smiled and Sprout hugged him before taking the tray and immediately running off to find Astro. “HEY! I DIDN’T MEAN RIGHT NOW?!” It was too late. Before Cosmo knew it Sprout fled out the door. Astro was outside switching the songs on his headphones, unknowingly blasting them so he couldn’t hear. Next to him was his skateboard, Brusha took creative liberty when she saw it outside of Astro’s locker, which he had only left it outside of his locker ONCE. It looked pretty nice anyway; nobody could complain about Brusha’s handiwork. Slowly, Sprout approached him with the cookies in hand. Eventually Astro looked up to see Sprout and quickly turned down his headphones, immediately noticing the cookies in his hand. “Uh.. you and Cosmo still make those?.. So embarrassing to see my baby face all over cookies.” He smiled and continued switching through songs, this time still listening for Sprout. “I think they taste good enough to still make. What's wrong with having a friendly face on a cookie?” He grinned and took one to his mouth then bit down. After, he offered the rest to Astro. “Really? For me?.. Hey thanks. I guess they are pretty friendly.. I was just thinking of getting ice cream but this’ll do.” He put his headphones down to the collar of his uniform and took a cookie for himself. His face lit up, it wasn’t too noticeable since it wasn’t night time but he glowed brighter. “Hey. You’re on your free period too right?” Sprout checked his watch, before looking back at Astro who was sitting on the curb of the planted bushes behind him. “We’ve got 20 minutes left. I could still offer you that ice cream you wanted.” Before he knew it he was smiling at Astro again, what a grinning idiot. “What? I mean you already gave me cookies now you’re offering ice cream? If anything I should be the one repaying you-“ The other boy waved him off. “Dude I offered first. And don’t go trying to repay me, ever. C’mon.” Before he knew it, Astro was being dragged off by Sprout.
