Chapter Text
In Robloxian High, nothing really ever happened. Especially for someone like me.
I knew nobody, and that’s what I was. A nobody.
I was here just to tally down the days until the end of school so I could hang out with people I actually enjoyed the presence of.
Unluckily for me, it was about the middle of the school year.
Right in the middle of all the tests, quizzes, and everything else. And I had to balance homework on top of that.
Telamon, if you’re out there, please just let this end.
But it’s not like my grades were the most awful thing ever, I had a few As and Cs, and that’s it.
I was about a few hours in my school day, and right after I had squeezed through a crowd of faces I had no care for, I realized my next class was one I could care less about, but my grades were alright in it. Math. I thought to myself, what’s the harm in a little rule-bending? I nearly grinned at the thought, but didn’t. I had to wait for my time to strike.
[TIMESKIP]
I had sat down in my seat, right in the corner of the classroom. Nobody ever sat there.
As the teacher began the lesson, I went fishing for my phone, retrieving it out of my pocket. I also grabbed my earbuds, putting one in and brushing my hair out to hide it. I never had enjoyed having long hair, but in times like these, it wasn’t so bad. I felt the sweat drip down my face as I entered a familiar domain on my phone.
Archiveofourown.org
Enter.
I was brought to a very, very familiar white and red website, my thumb nervously tapping the search bar.
“F/F, telamon/builderman, roblox, girls kissing, internalized homophobia, yuri, RRF, doomed yuri, slowburn”
I scrolled for a while, finding the exact fanfic I was looking for.
I had only gotten a quarter of the way through but that’s fine, because I was gonna finish it.
Today.
In class.
I was pretty sure bookmarking was a feature, but I never really remembered to. Eh, didn't matter to me.
Now who in their right mind would write a 50,000 word fanfiction for a god and his co-worker?
Nobody, but nobody on this website was in their right mind.
Was that a good idea?
Probably not.
But I didn’t care.
I wanted this.
I needed this.
I scrolled down and skipped a couple chapters, picking up where I had last left off— chapter 10.
Apparently there were 20 more chapters, but an hour should be enough to read at least half of those.
I looked around, before putting my eyes to the screen. I tried my best to read as fast as I could.
I barely even comprehended the words on my phone. I felt blood rush to my face, it was so obvious what I was doing.
I took one hand off my phone and tilted my black hat with its red brim downwards, hiding my tomato-red face. About 10 minutes after I had started, I heard a familiar name pierce through my train of thought.
“Guest, you seem awfully quiet back there. Mind answering question number 5?” I heard my math teacher call out.
I scrambled to shove my phone away in my pocket, barely even having enough time to pull out a sheet of paper from my folder, scribbling down the answer and holding it up.
“… Correct.”
Sweat dripped down my whole body. Holy shit, I cannot play around like that, I need to be more careful.
Eh, fuck it, you only live once, and my yuri’s more important than geometry anyway.
I pulled my phone out again, entering my passcode, and going right back to reading.
As I kept reading, I felt my hands get shaky, trying (again) to read quickly so I could get to the next chapter
My clawed hands gently brushed against his calloused ones, the rough texture like heaven. I glanced down at him, my mind racing a thousand miles an hour. For the Heights sake, I was a god, falling for a foolish mortal.
By the Heights, just kiss already!!! I wanted to yell.
My thumb pressed the “Next Chapter” button.
Right as I did, I heard an insult, addressing me. Yet a different voice this time.
“Hey, nerd, d’ya know the answer to question 9?” It was someone in front of me.
Sarah.
The girl that was now halfway turned around to talk to me.
Her long, silky dark hair, her paper-hat, her holiday crown that honestly reminded me of salad, those neon-pink shutter shades, pretty was an understatement.
I nod slowly.
Beautiful, breathtaking even. Telamon, stop admiring her! She asked you a basic question!
I slowly pulled out my workbook, shoving my phone in my pocket for later, and taking out my earbud too. I looked at the question, a difficult one, yeah, but it wasn’t impossible, I think.
I noticed her slowly turn around to face me entirely, but I didn’t wanna stare, that was rude. And I didn’t want to be rude to her.
After I finished solving the problem, I didn’t even realize I was holding my breath. I turned my workbook around, watching her copy down my work and answer.
I smiled at her.
Holy crap. She smiled back.
I didn’t even register she said “thank you.” I was head over heels for a girl that didn’t even know my name and that I had just met. Well, not really just met, but we were acquaintances.
Maybe we could be friends someday.
”Oh yeah, also, I know that you were on your phone. Be a bit more sneaky next time, uh..”
”Guest,” I signed. ”Also, glad to help.”
