Chapter Text
Leigh noticed the rat child being fed by Sam in the corner of the room. He was feeding it his blood. She could do that. Better capitalize on that now before Sam realizes how bad of an idea it is.
She saw how he very slightly dragged its claw across his skin. Rookie. She’d done that a hundred times. He’s barely feeding the damn thing anything.
She walked over and wordlessly extended her arms. She wanted to see the thing. Rat. Whatever. Sam was.. reluctant, but handed it over. She took it into her arms roughly, but still trying not to hurt it.
“Well well... heh heh... look at these little things... quite sharp, eh?” She grinned.
She took one of its claws and raked it roughly across her skin, slicing pretty deep. Sam looked horrified. She chuckled. Fuck, she forgot how good this felt. One of her sisters had been all, ‘you shouldn’t do that, you could really hurt yourself’, so she stopped. Until right now.
She felt the warm blood ooze across her skin and quietly sighed of relief. It felt really good. And she even had an excuse. Feed the rat-baby-child-thing. She angled the rats head towards her arm, smiling at it.
“Good... very good... now drink.”
The Rat, recognizing this as food, began to lap it up. Slow at first, but eventually eating it hungrily as if this was liquid gold. Red gold, I suppose.
“Drink up, little Rat... we want you nice and strong... heh heh..” She chuckled, before handing the Rat back to Sam, mouth agape, who.. really didn’t have anything to say.

The next day, Leigh called over the Tat. Sam couldn’t cut his wrist to save his life. Or to feed the rat, for that matter.
“Rat... come here... heh heh...” she muttered, barely audible.
The Rat scampered and slid its way to Leigh, very uncoordinated. It was a baby. She took it into her arms, and with a nod of approval, it bit her. Blood popped out in droplets on her arm, and the Rat are it hungrily until there was none left. It looked at her with a whine, but she didn’t fancy giving it much more. Tomorrow.
Sam approached her and took the Rat back. He looked worried. Why was he worried, of all emotions? He should be.. something else. Not worried. Nothing to worry about, no.
“Are you alright? You lost.. a good bit of blood there.” Sam said, cradling and rocking the Rat to sleep.
Leigh just blankly stared for a moment, then her grin turned into a real crazed smile.
“Bloods nothing, heh heh heh.. I got plenty.. you can’t feed the thing to save its life!” She replied, pointing dramatically at him, then the Rat. She giggled again.
Sam frowned, looking at the fresh bites and 1/8 healed slices on her arm from yesterday. She had a little bit of blood trickling down her arm, but she didn’t mind.
“You want some.. gauze or a band-aid for that? It looks.. pretty bad.” Sam said, reaching out, before she snapped her arm away.
“I’m fine. Blood means NOTHING! Heh!” She snapped, half angry, half whatever-emotion-she-felt-close-to-joy, before going to sit on the couch and play something. Or watch something. Or stare at nothing. Hard to tell.
Sam just looked at her in concern for his “friend”.
