Chapter Text
"Hey, Red Herring, it's me, Flora! Wanna go out on a date with me? We can go to that new milkshake place that recently opened." Flora Stevie was pining after Red Herring, who stood there with anger boiling all over his body, hating that brunette-haired girl who had been pining after him, and he wasn't going to take it anymore.
Red Herring took a deep breath, saying to Flora, "Listen, Flora, I'm not interested in you! Why do you keep pining after me!?"
Flora looked spoiled at Red Herring. "Come on! Why can't you ever love me!? I've been in love with you for so long."
"Sorry, I'm taken," Red Herring lied; he couldn't believe those words came out of his mouth.
"Who's the girl?" Flora asked.
Red Herring stammered nervously; he lied again to Flora, "I'm not into girls! I like... um... boys! Yeah! I like boys!"
"Boys!? Why!? You're into boys!?" Flora questioned with skepticism, not fully convinced by Red's words. "Who's the boy?" she asked skeptically toward the redheaded boy.
Red Herring looked around for a random boy to pretend to be his boyfriend; he quickly found someone. It was Fred Jones, who was seen playing with a yo-yo, and he quickly grabbed the blonde-haired boy. Red pulled him closer, saying to Flora, "He's my boyfriend." Fred looked surprised at Red Herring, raising an eyebrow in shock when Red Herring whispered in his ear, "Just pretend you're my boyfriend, you chowderhead."
"Fine," Fred answered. He looked at the girl in front of him and said to the brunette-haired girl, "Hi, I'm Red Herring's boyfriend. Nice to meet you." Flora suddenly ran away, crying with disgust.
Fred looked at Red Herring with anger, asking, "What was that all about!?"
"That girl has been pining after me for months. I need you to pretend to be my boyfriend. I'll pay you every time if you do so," Red explained. Fred rolled his eyes and sighed. Red Herring added, "If you don't, I'll tell everyone in town about your lousy behavior and how you keep accusing me of everything."
"Fine. Whatever," Fred agreed with annoyance, hating the idea already. Red Herring smiled, saying to Fred, "Thanks."
Fred hated this idea.
